Chapter 23
Asher’s Pow
I was enjoying the soiree, surrounded by my pack and a few other alphas who were old friends of mine. Klaus, an alpha from a neighbouring pack, was standing beside me, laughing and joking as we reminisced about old times.
“They Asher,” Klaus shurred, nudging me in the ribs. He was utterly wrecked with wine “What do you think about us matchmaking our kids?”
I chuckled at his words, shaking my head. I nearly asked him what kids he was referring to but I guessed she was only being sarcastic as always“T don’t know, Klaus My luck with finding my own muste hasn’t been great so far.”
We both laughed at my self–deprecating joke, but my smile faded as I thought about the Raya. The one woman who had sparked something inside of me that I couldn’t quite explain.
I absentmindedly glanced down at my hand, where the scar from her touch still lingered. I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts, and took a long drink from my glass of whiskey.
As I was about to pour myself another drink, I noticed a murmur spreading through the crowd. Curious, I excused myself from Klaus and made my
way towards the entrance
That’s when I saw her. A stunning woman, her beauty almost otherworldly. I was struck by her presence, and I couldn’t take my eyes off her. The woman standing at the entrance of the soirce was a vision of beauty. She had long flowing golden hair that cascaded down her back in soft waves. Her skin was fair and flawless, giving her an ethereal glow. Her lips were full and pink, perfectly complementing her high cheekbones and delicate nose. Her eyes were a bright shade of blue, sparkling with an inner light that caught the attention of everyone in the room.
She was dressed in a flowing white gown that accentuated her curves, hugging her body in all the right places. The dress was simple yet elegant, the perfect choice for such a beautiful woman. As she moved, the dress flowed behind her like a river of silk, adding to her already mesmerising presence.
Every head in the room turned to look at her as she walked in, and I could feel my heart skip a beat as she came closer.
“Who is she?” Klaus asked me from behind, his breath fanning my name. He was struck by her beauty and was trying to keep his voice low.
“I don’t know her. She is beautiful” I replied, eyeing him warily. “Why do you ask, Klaus?”
“Don’t think you should try your luck with her. She looks terrific!”
“You never know with women. She might be.” my words were caught off when the scent came wafting in my direction. I blinked rapidly, praying that this wasn’t real.
“What were you saying, go to her Klaus slurred, pushing me slightly towards her.
That’s when I recognized her. For a second, the heavy makeup hadn’t allowed me to see through the whole thing. I was utterly shocked as I stared at her.
Raya!
What the hell was she doing heref
“Don’t waste this chance. Look around her, it’s obvious she’s not with anybody. Look how the men are eye–f*cking her. Klaus continued, his stinking breath continued to waft towards me.
“Can you just shut up for a second, I asked him, patting his chest as 1 glared at her and looked around. Klaus was right. They were already staring at her, about to make their move. I was utterly worried, what if they found out what she was. I wondered what my punishment would be if they discovered I was still harbouring a lauman in my pack.
I had to move immediately when I saw one of the men approach her. The look in my eyes was enough to make him back off instantly. That’s when I saw Caden. He stood eight in front of her and they were talking in low tones.
His eyes flatted upward the moment he sensed me
I gestured for him to walk out of the rou immediately and meet me outside while mind–linking him to ask her to walk towards the exit immediately but he rolled his eyes at my last command and instead began to walk towards ine.
I glared hard at him as I looked around once more. What the f*ck was Caden thinking. Had he lost his fucking mind. Did he know how risky and dangerous this was. The fate of our Pack was balancing on a precarious future with her presence around all these gullible men around who would do anything to have her.

I had to glare at everyone around, coming close enough to her to mark my territory. Thankfully, the unmated Alphas all got the message I was passing across and went back to what they were doing, discussing and balancing wine glasses as they mingled.
I wondered how I couldn’t have recognized her. My sense of caution was way heightened more than anything else at that point.
Caden and I walked out of the room immediately and we made our way out of the small gathering. The aura of the females in heat filled my nose as I made my way out of the banquet with my Beta but I ignored every single one of them and the seductive, coquettish looks they flashed at me.
“Have you lost your fucking mind!!?” I yelled at him.
“Relax, nothing is going to happen. She has been here all night. Caden replied
“I don’t know what your reason is for bringing her here but whatever it is, take her out immediately or else you will hate me, Caden.”
“Asher. I-”
“Shut the f*ck up and do what I said!” I yelled at him and began to walk off immediately. “If anyone discovers what she is. I will kill you with my own hands. And I won’t regret it in the least. Your reasons can come later but take her out of here immediately.”
I began to trudge out immediately, noting the clank of his footsteps as he walked up closely behind me.
