Chapter 29
RAYA’S POV
I was still snuggled under Asher’s warm embrace when I heard the sound of footsteps approaching us. I looked up to see Caden, Asher’s Beta, dragging a rogue wolf behind him. He looked surprised to see us hugging and stopped for a moment, dropping the rogue wolf on the floor.
Asher quickly stood up, still holding onto me tightly, and I could see the shock on Caden’s face as he watched his Alpha carrying me. Asher didn’t waste any time and started leading me through a series of twists and turns, going through various hallways and rooms until we arrived at a big door
I couldn’t help but wonder what was behind that door. It looked old and sturdy, like it had been there for centuries. Asher let go of me for a moment to open the door, and I could see the muscles in his arms flexing as he pushed it open.
The room behind the door was unlike anything I had ever seen before. It was a large circular chamber with a high ceiling and torches lining the walls, casting flickering shadows across the stone floor. In the center of the room was a massive stone table, surrounded by wooden chairs.
As we walked into the room, Caden followed close behind us, still looking slightly shocked. Asher led me to one of the chairs and motioned for me to sit down. I sank into the wooden seat, still feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything that had happened.
Caden stood behind Asher, his arms crossed over his chest. “Alpha, the threats have been cleared. We caught more rogues trying to gain acc
access into
the dungeon. They won’t be bothering us again”
Asher nodded, his expression serious, “Good work, Caden. Keep an eye on things for the rest of the night, just in case”
Caden nodded and turned to leave, but not before giving me a curious glance. I couldn’t blame him. The situation must have looked strange to him.
“Is everything okay. Alpha?” he asked, eyeing me carefully
Asher nodded solemnly. “We had an incident in the dungeon. Raya was in danger, but she’s safe now.”
Caden’s eyes widened in surprise as he took a step closer. “Is she hurt?”
was just a scare.
I shook my head, feeling a little embarrassed by the attention. I’m fine, really. It was
Asher seemned to relax a bit at my words, and he turned to face the metal door once again. “We need to speak with the Council immediately,” he
said, his voice firm
Caden nodded, his expression serious. “Of course, Alpha. Illi
I’ll make sur
sure they’re ready for you.”
With that, he disappeared down the hallway, leaving Asher and I alone once again. I couldn’t help but feel a little overwhelmed by everything that had happened, and I leaned back against the cold metal door for support
Asher noticed my unease and stepped closer, his hand reaching out to touch my shoulder. “Are you sure you’re okay?” he asked softly.
I nodded, but the tremble in my voice betrayed my emotions. “I just…I can’t believe how close I came to…to…
To what he prompted gently.
“To dying” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. “If it weren’t for you. I don’t know what would have happened.”
1 fel a lump form in my throat at his words, and I couldn’t help but wonder why he was being so kind to me. We had always been at odds, and I didn’t understand why he was suddenly treating me like I mattered.
As Asher clears his throat, his voice becomes hard and malevolent, and I can feel the change in the air around us. It’s like the warm and kind Alpha Asher I had been hugging seconds ago had disappeared, and in his place stood a cold and distant stranger.
“You’ll be safe here,” he says in an authoritative tone, making me wonder if there’s still danger out there. “Make sure you don’t make a damn sound.”
I feel my breath catch in my throat as I take in his words. I can’t believe that the same person who had just held me close and comforted me now sounds so harsh and distant. It’s as if he’s a completely different person.
Flook
up at him, trying to make sense of his sudden change in behavior. His eyes are colder now, and his jaw is set in a firm line. It’s almost as if he’s preparing himself for a battle.
For a moment, I wonder if I’m in danger. But then I remember that he had just saved me from the rogue wolf, and I push the thought aside. Still, the way his demeanor has changed so quickly and so drastically is disconcerting
I nod my head in understanding, feeling a lump form in my throat. I want to ask him if he’s okay, but I can tell that he’s not in the mood for idle

chit–chat. Instead. I take a deep breath and try to focus on the present.
As Asher turns to leave. I can’t help but feel a sense of unease wash over me. I watch as he disappears through the door, leaving me alone in the room. The silence is deafening, and I can’t help but feel a sense of isolation.
I try to shake off the feeling and focus on my surroundings. The room is dimly lit, and the air is musty. The walls are made of stone, and there’s a musty smell that lingers in the air.
1 can hear the sound of footsteps echoing in the distance, and I wonder if there are other people in the dungeon. I feel a shiver run down my spine as I think about the possibility of encountering another rogue wolf.
I try to calm myself down by taking deep breaths and reminding myself that I’m safe for now. But the memory of the beast’s claws digging into my skin and the fear in Asher’s eyes as he fought it off lingers in my mind.
I can’t help but wonder what else lies ahead in this dark and foreboding place.
