Alpha Mate Chapter 36

Chapter 36

RAYA’S POV

I woke up to the sight of smoke rising in the sky outside my window. The night before had been chaotic, and I couldn’t help but wonder what had happened. I sat up in bed and stretched, letting out a yawn as 1 rubbed the sleep from my eyes. As I stood up, I walked over to the window to take a better look at the view outside

I stared out the window, taking in the sea of people below me. There were so many of them, bustling around and living their lives as if nothing had happened last night. Every now and then, I could make out a few conversations, but it was mostly an unending hum of voices. The sun shone down on the busy street below, casting a warm glow over everyone walking or sitting by the roadside. I watched as they went about their business buying groceries, going to work, taking a leisurely stroll all seemingly unaware of what had transpired the night before. It brought a strange comfort to my heart, knowing that life still went on despite it all

The guards stationed outside were stoic and alert, their expressions set in a rigid determination. They wore the standard black uniform of the pack. complete with matching boots and gloves

Each guard carried a sleek and deadlylooking weapon at their side, their hands hovering near the hilt as they kept a watchful eye on their surroundings

Smoke still billowed up into the sky, casting an eerie haze over the surrounding landscape. The acrid scent of burnt wood and grass lingered in the air, stinging her nostrils. The sun had just risen, casting a golden glow over the trees and fields, but it did little to dispel the uneasy feeling that hung in the atmosphere

I saw only a few guards outside, their faces drawn and tired from the long night’s watch. They scanned the area vigilantly, their eyes darting back and forth as they searched for any signs of danger. The buildings in the distance were scorched and damaged, evidence of the violent clash that had occurred. I wondered how many lives had been lost or affected by the chaos

Despite the destruction, there was a sense of stillness in the air, as if the world was holding its breath, waiting for the next shoe to drop. The silence was only broken by the distant sound of birds chirping, their sweet melodies a sharp contrast to the violence of the night before

It was only then that I realized that I was alone in the room. I wondered where Asher was, but I didn’t want to go out looking for him. Instead, i decided to go to the door and find out what was going on..

I had barely settled into my thoughts when I heard a soft knock on my door, I glanced at the window again and saw a few guards outside, and then back at the door. The guards turned to the door, and one of them opened it. Standing in the doorway were a group of women, their faces solemn and determined

We’ve been sent to take care of you, the woman at the forefront said in a gentle voice. The Beta has ordered it. He said orders are from Alpha

Asher.”

I hesitated for a moment, feeling a twinge of apprehension at the thought of being in the care of strangers. But then I realized that there was little else I could do, and besides, it was probably better to be with people who knew their way around the Pack

Okay,I said, standing up from the bed. Til come with you.”

se of relief wash

The women nodded in unison, and then they turned and started walking down the hall. I followed closely behind, feeling a sense over me as I realized that I wouldn’t be alone in this strange place

We walked in silence for a few minutes, passing by other rooms and hallways, until we arrived back at my room. The women entered first, and then I followed behind. I saw that they had brought a few extra clothes with them, and they quickly set about unpacking and arranging them in the

closet

We’ll take care of everything, one of the women said as she worked. Just relax and make yourself at home.”

I nodded and then took a seat on the bed, feeling a mix of gratitude and trepidation. I had never been in a situation like this before, and I had no idea what to expect. But at least for now, I was safe and under the care of people who seemed to genuinely want to help me

As the women worked, I continued to look around the room, It was sparsely furnished, with just a bed, a dresser, and a small table by the window. The walls were bare, and it didn’t quite look like my room

As soon as I nodded my agreement, the women in the room immediately got to work. They began by helping me out of my clothes and into the bath. The water was warn and soothing, and I felt my muscles relax as I sank into it

However, I couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy with the women scrubbing and washing me. I had never been one in feel comfortable with strangers seeing me in such a vulnerable state. But they were professional and efficient, so I didn’t have much to complain about

As they bathed me, they began to gossip about the events of the previous night, I listened silently, not wanting to reveal that I was not in the loop about what had happened

Chapter 36

They say there were rogue wolves lurking around the pack last night,” one of them said

I heard that they attacked some of our guards,” another added

Alesha wast

“They were lucky that our Alpha was there to take charge. I heard he killed every single one of them,” a third woman chimed in

What were the guards doing then. The other said, cackling loudly

I listened intently to their words, trying to piece together what had happened and if any other thing had happened during the time. But as they moved on to other topics, I realized that I still had no clear idea of what had taken place..

Once they had finished bathing me, they helped me out of the tub and dried me off. They then dressed me in new clothes, which were simple but comfortable. They gave me a bowl of warm porridge to eat, and I savored the taste of the oats as I spooned them into my mouth

As I ate, the women continued to fuss over me, making sure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed. They were kind and gentle, and I felt grateful for their help

When I had finished eating, they informed me that I would need to wait for the Beta’s commands before I could leave the room. I nodded my understanding, feeling a little trapped but also somewhat relieved that I didn’t have to face the outside world just yet

As they left the room, I sat down on the bed and gazed out of the window once more. The smoke had dissipated somewhat but there was still lingering smell of burning in the air

I had been waiting for what felt like an eternity, watching the sun slowly make its way across the sky when I heard a soft knock on the door. I turned to see Caden enter the room, his eyes looking tired and worn out

How are you feeling? He asked, walking towards me

“I’m fine.I said, sitting up straighter. What’s happening outside? Is everything okay now

Caden sighed and shook his head. The guards are still searching for any signs of the enemy. We need to be patient.”

hoped that the chaos of the night before was over, but it seemed like the danger

I nodded, feeling a sense of disappointment wash over me. I had he was still lurking

I have some questions,” I said, turning to look at him. About the rogues who attacked us.”

Caden’s expression grew serious, and he took a seat on the edge of the bed. What do you want to know?”

Why did they attack us? 1 asked, feeling a sense of confusion and frustration. Is it because of me?I felt a deep sense of guilt and regret. Could it be true, that my own actions had led to the attack on my Pack! Had I brought this danger upon them! I had no way of knowing for certain, but the possibility weighed heavily on me, and I was consumed with guilt and regret

Caden chuckled. Of course not, dear. Those were rogues bit werewolves.”

Then what happened

We’re not sure yet,” Caden admitted, his voice low. But we have some of them in the dungeon, and we’re going to interrogate them to find out

at of the rogues being held captive. Is that safe?I asked hesitantly. What if they try to

I couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease at the thought escape?”

Caden shook his head. We have the dungeon secure. There’s no way they’ll be able to escape.”

but what about the rest of us? Are we safe?”

I sighed, feeling a sense of relief at his word. Okay, but

Caden hesitated for a moment before answering. We have to be cautious. We don’t know if they’ll try to attack again”

1 nodded, understanding his point. I just don’t want to live in fear,” Ladmitted, feeling a sense of frustration. It’s not a way to live.”

Caden placed a hand on my shoulder, his touch gentle. “I know, Raya. But we’ll get through this. I promise.”

I nodded, feeling a sense of comfort at his words. Despite everything that had happened, I knew that Caden was doing everything in his power to keep us safe

As he approached me, I saw the exhaustion etched onto his face. The bags under his eyes and the lines on his forehead spoke volumes of the battles he fought and the struggles he’s endured. He’s clearly been through a lot, and the weight of his responsibilities is taking a toll on him
