Alpha Mate Chapter 39

Chapter 39

RAYA’S POV

As the guard led me back to my room, I couldn’t help but feel conflicted. On one hand, I was grateful for the kindness shown to me by the lycans, but on the other hand, I knew I didn’t belong here. My place was with my people, the humans, and I couldn’t wait to return to them

Despite this, I found myself slowly feeling more and more comfortable with the lycans as the day went on. The guard who showed me around was friendly and patient with me, answering all of my questions and showing me the ropes. The lycans themselves seemed to be a closeknit community, and I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy at their bonds with each other

As we arrived at my room, I thanked the guard and entered, shutting the door behind me. It was small and sparsely furnished, with just a bed, dresser, and a small window. It was a far cry from the luxurious palace I was used to, but I couldn’t deny that it had a certain charm to it

But as I looked around, the loneliness started to set in. I was far away from everything I knew and loved, and I didn’t know when I would be able to return. I missed my family, my friends, and the familiar comforts of home

The claustrophobia started to creep in on me, and I found myself pacing around the room, trying to distract myself. I missed the open spaces of my kingdom, the freedom to roam and explore. Here, 1 felt trapped, hemmed in by the walls and the unfamiliar surroundings

I tried to remind myself that this was only temporary, that I would be able to return to my own people soon enough. But the thought brought me little comfort, as I knew that the journey back would be fraught with danger

1 sighed heavily and sat down on the edge of the bed, staring out the small window at the moonlt landscape. It was beautiful in its own way, but it wasn’t home. And for now, that was all I wanted. To be home, safe and sound, surrounded by the people I loved

But for now, all I had was this room, this bed, and my own thoughts. And that was enough to make me feel more alone than I ever had before

1 slowly lay back on the bed, exhausted from the day’s events. Despite my weariness, however, I found it difficult to drift off to sleep. My mind was still racing with thoughts of home and the uncertainty of my future

Eventually, I closed my eyes and tried to focus on my breathing, letting my mind slowly drift away into slumber

That’s when the dream began

I found myself running through the forest, my heart pounding in my chest, I didn’t know what I was running from, but I knew I had to keep moving. The trees whipped by in a blur as I sprinted through the underbrush, my feet pounding the ground in a steady rhythm

But as I continued to run, I began to feel a sense of dread creeping up on me. I knew I was being pursued, and no matter how fast I ran, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was getting closer

Finally, I broke through the trees and found myself standing at the edge of a boundary, the familiar markers of my kingdom looming ahead of me. I let out a sigh of relief, thinking that I was finally safe

But then I felt something hunger

, I saw that the rogue had transformed

He began to approach me, his steps slow and measured. I tried to scramble away, but my legs wouldn’t move. It was as if I was rooted to the ground, trapped in place by some unseen force

As he got closer and closer, I could feel his hot breath on my face. I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the worst

But when I opened them again, I found myself back in my room, panting and sweating with fear. It was just a dream, I reminded myself. But even so, the image of Alpha Asher’s face lingered in my mind, haunting me long after i drifted off to sleep again

I woke up with a start, my heart pounding in my chest. The dreamn had felt so real, so vivid. I sat up in bed, trying to shake the sense of dread that still lingered in my mind

That’s when I saw him

Standing at the end of my bed was Alpha Asher, his eyes narrowed in a menacing glare. My breach caught in my throat as I stared at him, unsure of what to do

What do you want?I asked again, my voice growing more confident as I tried to shake off the fear that still gripped me

As I sat there in bed, staring at Alpha Asher’s menacing scowl, I couldist help but feel a sliver run down my spine. His face was twisted into an expression est pure Lage, hus eyes burning with a fiery intensity that seemed to consume me

It was as if he was daring me to defy him, daring me to resist his will. And despite my fear, I found myself wanting to stand up to him, to show hum that I was not his to comunand

But then, just as quis kly as the anger had appeared, it seemed to fade away. He stood there for a moment longer, his eyes fixed on mine, before turning and leaving the room

As I sat in my room, trying to shake off the fear that still lingered from my encounter with Alpha Asher, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of curiosity. Why had be come to my room in the middle of the night? What did he want from me

Those questions were soon answered when I heard a knock at my door, 1 hesitated for a moment, unsure if I wanted to see him again, but ultimately I couldn’t resist the pull of the unknown

I opened the door to find Alpha Asher standing there, his eyes fixed on mine with a piercing intensity

“Come with me,he said, his voice low and insistent

1 hesitated for a moment, unsure if I wanted to follow him. But there was something about him, something mysterious and alluring, that drew me

The smell of petrichor drifted through the air, and I savored every sweet moment. It was refreshing and calming, washing away all my troubles and worries. I lay in bed, feeling soothed by the sound of the rain and the scent of petrichor that filled my room

A feeling of contentment slowly rose up within me, and I smiled as I curled up in the warmth of my blankets. I had nearly fallen into slumber when I heard him call my name from the doorway. I got up immediately, shaking off the tiredness and the want to sleep more..

Without a word. I followed him out of my room and into the hall. As we walked, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of apprehension. Last night he had hugged me and saved me from the rogue, but tonight his behavior was completely different. He seemed cold and distant, as if he was hiding something

I tried to shake off the feeling as we made our way down the hallway and into a large chamber. It was dimly lit, with flickering torches lining the walls, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease. The walls were adorned with intricate carvings and tapestries, and the air was heavy with the

scent of ancient magic

In the center of the room stood a massive table, made of a dark, polished wood that gleamed in the flickering torchlight

What is this place?I asked, my voice barely above a whisper

It’s our council chamber,he said, his voice echoing through the room

As I sat nervously at the head of the council table, Alpha Asher strode confidently to the other end and took his seat. My eyes flicked to the cup of steaming hot coffee he had placed in front of me, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for this small gesture of kindness

Thank you,I murmured, taking a sip of the hot liquid. The warmth spread through my chest, banishing the chill of the rainy evening outside

For a moment, the only sound in the room was the soft patter of rain against the windows, and the occasional scrape of a chair as he shifted in his seat. I couldn’t help but feel like an interloper in this solemn chamber, surrounded by a being far older and more powerful than myself

I couldn’t help but sense a mysterious air about Alpha Asher. His eyes were fixed on me, his expression inscrutable, and I couldn’t help but wonder

what he was thinking
