Unseen regret beyond the grave Chapter 6

06

When Patrick returned to the villa, lost and broken, Betty still had no idea what had

happened

This woman, who had ruined my entire life, was still pretending to be innocent and fragile, trying to curl up into Patrick’s arms

Patrick, if Eliza really is dead, what will happen to me and the child? I don’t really care, but

have to protect our child”

Patrick was always a sucker for this act

He liked how Betty seemed to adore him so much that she almost went mad with love for

him

But today, his gaze towards her was colder than ever

Are you really sick? Are you really pregnant?Patrick stared into her eyes, asking sharply and

slowly

Betty froze for a moment. Patrick, why would you ask that?”

Patrick wasn’t a fool

It was just that before. He didn’t want to doubt Betty

The truth was, Betty’s acting was terrible, so bad that once Patrick started to question her

her real nature quickly showed through

Patrick let out a bitter laugh, closed his eyes for a moment, and then opened them again

It doesn’t matter. You can lie to me. It doesn’t matterBut what really matters is, was it

really you who gave me the money back then, the money that helped me get through the tough

times?”

Betty’s eyes shifted nervously. Yeah, of course, it was me”

Though she tried to hold her ground, her guilty expression betrayed her completely

Patrick suddenly snapped, grabbing her by the neck. Betty! I’ve treated you so well. Why are you lying to me

It’s all because of you! If it weren’t for you, Eliza wouldn’t be dead

You bast**d! I’m going to kill you!”

His grip tightened, and Betty’s breathing immediately became labored

With tears in her eyes, she looked at the man in front of her, the same man who had loved

her so deeply just a few days ago, now driven to madness. She struggled for air. NoYou married Eliza to get the Walter family….

Even without me, you would have destroyed the Walter family, destroyed Eliza…

It has nothing to do with me”

Patrick paused, loosening his grip slightly

Betty collapsed to the floor, coughing loudly

Yeahit was me who killed Eliza. I’m the one to blamePatrick mumbled to himself, looking ike a man gone mad

Betty thought she had escaped death, breathing a sigh of relief

She smiled awkwardly, Patrick, don’t be like this. You never really liked Eliza. Now that she’s

dead, no one can stand in our way.

Didn’t you say that not marrying me would be your lifelong regret

Why don’t we get married quickly and have a child that’s truly ours”

Her voice cut off abruptly

Betty looked down and saw the dagger already plunged into her chest

The Patrick before her looked like a cornered madman, his eyes filled with madness

Patrick spoke coldly, I am the one who killed Eliza, but you won’t escape, either

Die and atone for your sins!”

With a soft thud, a letter fell out

He picked it up and was completely stunned because the letter was addressed to me. Exchanging letters had always been a playful way Patrick and I flirted with each other

It all started during that summer, when Patrick made me angry and couldn’t apologize no matter what. He wrote me a little note

The note read, Ms. Walter, I know I was wrong, and I apologize sincerely. If there’s ever a next time, you can use this note to find me. Punish me as you see fit. I’ll say nothing.”

The note was then slipped into the mailbox at Walter Villa

Patrick had always lived at Walter Villa, and our rooms were very close to each other. Yet, he still chose to apologize to me in this romantic way

I couldn’t help but laugh, and with a flourish, I wrote back a note that read, I’ll reluctantly forgive you, but remember, you need to write me a letter every day!”

From then on, we started exchanging letters from the lush summer to the snowy winter

We wrote about the rising and setting of the sun, the autumn frost and winter snow, and the passionate love we shared during our youth

When did the mailbox start to fade into neglect

It seemed to be when Patrick gradually took control of the Walter family

At first, he approached me with an agenda, his heart only belonging to Betty

So, once he had enough power, he no longer needed to humble himself to please me

And this letter in front of me was the last one I wrote before my death

In my dazed state, I asked Michael to help me slip it into the mailbox

Michael cursed and cried, but he did as I asked

When Patrick opened the letter, his fingers trembled slightly
