Chapter 16
Ryan opened the bag and spoke gently. Thought you some food. I wasn’t sure what you like, so I just picked something. Do you want to eat a bit?”
Abigail shook her head. “I don’t have an appetite right now.”
“Even if you don’t feel like eating, you should still have something,” he said, his bmw furrowing in concern.
Jacinta seemed to think momentarily before suggesting “Let me feed Abigail”
He nodded and stepped aside. He had bought light food, including a bowl of porridge.
Abigail didn’t feel well and only ate a little before feeling tired and wanting to rest
Jacinta and Ryan left the ward for now,
“Dr. Bennett, Abigail said you’re her attending doctor.” Once outside the room, Ryan turned to face lacinta, his tone serious. “Since you’re her doctor, how could such a mistake happen?“!
Jacinta felt guilty at his questioning tone. “This was my fault. Before the surgery began, I was lured away, and I didn’t expect this to happen.”
She felt deeply sorry for Abigail But all of this was Eric’s doing–he was truly despicable!
“Now the cornea is gone,” Ryan said calmly.
He was angry with Jacinta, but she wasn’t at fault. The real culprit was Eric.
“will use my connections to help find a suitable come. For now, please take good care of Abigail and keep her company.”
His concern for Abigail confused Jacinta “How long have you known Abigail?” she asked. “I never knew she had a friend like you!
She and Abigail were inseparable, and they knew everything about each other. But she knew nothing about this man.
Ryan replied, “I’ve known her for a long time. We lost contact for a while, so it’s normal you didn’t know about me. I’ll just say this–Eric is looking for her. Protect Abigail, and don’t let him but her any longer.”
Jacinta’s expression grew serious when she heard this. “Don’t worry..
- y. I will protect Abigail for sure!”
Two days later, Abigail’s eyesight returned.
In just two days, she had lost a lot of weight, and Jacinta could see it. She felt a deep ache in her heart.
I’ll take you home so you can rest. I’ve already asked people to help find a cornea for you, and I’m sure there will be news soon.” She wrapped her arm around Abigail’s shoulders and led her outside.
Abagail smiled. “Thank you, Jac”
“You’re welcome,” Jacinta replied
As they passed a ward, they saw Eric gently feeding Nicole, whose eyes were covered in bandages. The eye surgery was a success
Seving the sight, Abigail thought she would feel angry, upsar, or heartbroken. But instead, she felt calm, as if her heart had become still.
She lonew she was utterly disappointed in Erie at that moment and had honestly let go.
On the other hand, Jacinta was furious. She was about to rush in to confront the pair of scumbags, but Abigail stopped her.
“Let’s
s go,” Abigail said
Jacinta clenched her teeth but quickly escorted Abigail away.
Eric seemed to sense something and glanced toward the door,
Nicole noticed his pause and asked, “Eric, what’s wrong”
“It’s nothing,” he replied casually, placing the bowl in her hands. “I just remembered something. You eat first, and I’ll have the nurse come over later.” She immediately asked, “Are you leaving already? Don’t you want to stay and loep me company?”
