Chapter 18
Derrick immediately sensed something was wrong “Brat, have you been quarreling with Abigail again?”
Eric remained silent, tacitly admitting it.
“How unfortunate.” Derrick sighed. “I shouldn’t have forced you two together. You two are always fighting, and I feel sorry for Abby. Never mind. Come back tonight, and I’ll have her come too. I need to talk to both of you.”
With that, be hung up.
Abigail was in the kitchen preparing food when she received a call from Derrick.
“Abby, where are you? Has Eric been bullying you again? Tell me, and I’ll teach him a lesson.”
Abigail telt a lump in her throat when she heard his kind voice. She thought about her grievances these past few days and felt like telling him everything
“Grandpa.” Her voice was choked with emotion. “IT I want to divorce Eric, would you support me
He didn’t speak for a long time. Finally, he sighed. “You’ve really reached this point.”
Though he had always said that divorce was an option if things didn’t work out, he still hoped they could make it work. But since she had already mentioned it, their relationship was beyond saving.
“Conse home for dinner tonight, will you? Let’s talk about the divorce,” Derrick said.
“Okay,” Abigail replied.
He didn’t oppose it, which brought her some relief.
Of all the people in the Gomez family, he had been the kindest to her. When she decided to divorce Eric, her first thought was how sorry she felt for
Derrick.
After turning off the stove, Abigail changed into fresh clothes and cleaned herself up a bit. Upon seeing her pale complexion, she put on a light makeup.
It was still early when she arrived at the Gomez residence, and the sun hadn’t yet set. Derrick was sitting in the garden, enjoying the sunset. When he saw Abigail, he smiled and waved at her.
“Abby, come here, sit with ine.”
“Grandpa,” she said, smiling as she walked over
He carefully examined her and said with concem, “You’ve lost weight
The words almost made her tear up. Only those who truly cared would notice whether she had gained or lost weight. His tone was warm and caring, like a kind elder, reminding her of her father.
“It’s clear that things have been hard for you these days.” Derrick sighed. “Eric has wronged you”
Abigail remained silent, acknowledging it without speaking
“Never mind. If you want to divorce, go ahead. But even if you divorce, I’m still your grandfather, you hear me? Don’t let that distance you from me,” Derrick said, his face serious.
She smiled. “Of course, you will always be my grandfather.”
“What are you two talking about?”
A low voice interrupted them, and Abigail saw Eric. She immediately stopped smiling and quietly moved to the other side of Derrick,
Eric noticed the distance she put between them as soon as he arrived, and be frowned slightly
“You’re here,” Derrick said with a cold hull. “What are we talking about? About your divorce, of course! Since you dislike Abby so much, why don’t you just divorce her? She wants it coo
Eric’s face darkened. She actually brought the divorce matter to Derrick. He glared at her coldly. “I haven’t agreed to i
“I don’t care whether you agree,” Derrick replied sharply. “Right now, Abigall wants to divorce you! You’ve made her suffer, and I’m not on your side. Whether you want it or not, you’ll have to divorce!”
Eric coldly retorted, “Grandpa, this is between me and her. As an elder, you shouldn’t get involved.”
