Chapter 20
Eric could no longer see the warmth that once was there in Abigail’s eyes; now, all he saw was indifference.
He stood Impris
Samething between them had indeed changed, silently and irreparably.
Just then, his phone rang. He took it out, and Abigail saw that it was a call from Nicole. She sneered, forcefully pulling her arm away from him, and walked off quickly.
He frowned at her retreating figure but eventually answered the call.
“Hello, Eric, where are you? Can you come to the hospital to visit me? My eyes hurt so much, I can’t see anything, and I’m scared..” Nicole’s voice came through, trembling with sobs.
“Don’t be scared. Il come right away,” he replied.
As he drove, he saw Abigail walking on the sidewalk in the distance. Suddenly, a car stopped beside her. She got into the car after exchanging a few words with the person inside.
Eric frowned, his lips pressed into a thin line. Just as he was about to follow her, his phone rang again.
“Mr. Gomez, please come quickly. Ma. Hopkins is causing a scene in her ward..
He took a deep breath. “I’ll be right there.”
“Are you here to visit Mr. Gomez Senior? Ryan asked, glancing at her as he drove.
“Yes.” Abigail nodded. “What about you? Why are you here?”
This area was a villa district, a wealthy neighborhood, and it was difficult for ordinary people to get in.
“I’m visiting a friend,” he replied. His profile was clean–cut, and in the dim car light, his presence was sharp.
Abigail keenly noticed that he seemed slightly displeased; his mood was oft. She wisely stayed silent.
“Where are you headed?” he asked.
She gave him the address to Jacinta’s place.
“You’re not staying with Eric?” Ryan asked, surprised.
He recognized the address. It was just a regular neighborhood, not the sort of place Eric would live.
“Yes.” She carefully chose her words. “Eric and I are about to get divorced.
He was taken aback
“He doesn’t love me.” Abigail’s expression became bitter. “He has someone else in his heart. I won’t stand in their way.”
Ryan’s gaze darkened slowly. “He’s not worthy of you. It’s better this way. You deserve better.”
Abigail shook her head with a way simile. After the divorce, she wouldn’t dwell on these matters. Right now, all she wanted was to heal her eyes.
The car stopped at the neighborhood entrance, and he suddenly turned to face her. “Abby, don’t worry. Your eyes will be fine. I’ll help you find a new

She looked at him in surprise.
“You helped me back then, so I’ll consider this a way to repay the favor. Stay positive. If you need anything, you can always call me.”
Ryan smiled and ruffled her hair. “Alright. Go back now.”
She felt a complex, indescribable feeling in her heart, a bit dazed as she exited the car.
It wasn’t until Ryan’s car had driven away that she snapped back to reality. She touched her head and turned to enter the neighborhood.
As soon as she got back, she received a call from Derrick, and she quickly answered it.
“Abby, it’s me, Grandpa”
“Grandpa, is there something you need?”
