Chapter 57
Lucy immediately told Chanse that Eric had gotten into a fight for Abigail.
“That Abigail is so unseemly. Eric should’ve been more careful too. If the media had filmed that, it would have been a scandal. Does he like her that
much? You have to find a way to get rid of that bitch. Otherwise, Eric would fall into her clutches sooner or later.”
Chanse told the butler to take his luggage upstairs and nodded perfunctorily. “I’ll deal with it.”
Then, he turned to leave. Lucy’s face darkened. “You just came back. Where are you going now?”
She knew he had several mistresses in the country.
Chanse stopped and said, “You asked me to take care of it, didn’t you? I’ll go talk to her right now.”
Lucy was taken aback. She didn’t expect him to take this so seriously.
That meant he still cared about this son of his to some extent, right?
She felt slightly relieved.
Chanse headed straight to Gomez Villa. Peter rushed out to welcome him.
“Mr. Gomez, what brings you here? Are you here to see Mr. Eric? He’s still at the office and hasn’t come back yet-”
Chanse cut him off. “I’m not here for him. I’m here to see Abigail. She’s inside, right?”
Peter was stunned. “She is. But, why are you looking for her, Mr. Gomez?”
“There are some things I have to discuss with her.” Chanse walked right in and asked, “Which floor is she on?“.
“The second floor.” There was a complicated look on Peter’s face. He wanted to stop Chanse, but he couldn’t come up with a valid reason. There was nothing he could do but call Eric immediately.
Abigail was listening to an audiobook in her room when she heard some unfamiliar footsteps. Who was it this time?
The footsteps drew closer before stopping by her bed.
Chanse lowered his head to scrutinize Abigail. Her beautiful eyes were empty and without focus, making her seem like a string puppet.
“Abigail, I’m Chanse Gomez,” he said.
Abigail was stunned for a moment. The fact that it was him surprised her.
Although Chanse was Eric’s father, Abigail had little interaction with him. Moreover, since he spent most of the year working abroad, Abigail had only seen him twice or thrice over the years.
Every time they met, he treated her courteously. Unlike Lucy, who showed her disgust on her face. To him, Abigail seemed to be someone inconsequential.
“You’re back.” There was distance in Abigail’s politeness. “Do you need something from me?”
Chanse said, “There is something I want to talk to you about.”
He turned to glance at Peter, who was standing at the doorway. Then, he walked over and told him, “I need to speak with Abigail in private. I’m closing the door so that you won’t hear our conversation.”
Before Peter could speak, Chanse shut the door.
For some reason, Abigail grew anxious.
“What do you want to talk to me about?”
“Eric caused you to end up like this. As his father, I’m truly sorry,” Chanse said calmly.
Abigail fell silent, not knowing what to say.
“Eric’s mother told me that he’s confined you here, so I came to see you. Regarding this matter, he has crossed the line.”
Abigail finally understood. So, it was Lucy who had told him. Then, she would’ve also told him that she wanted Abigail to divorce Eric and stop holding
Eric back.
“You can ask me for anything I’ll fulfill your requests,” said Chanse.
“Anything? Can you promise that you won’t be influenced by Eric? Are you sure that you can fulfill any request I make?” Abigail asked.
