Angell wouldn’t believe a word Eric said.
He frowned, and without a second thought, he picked her up and shoved her into the car before instructing the driver to start the ow
The two were silent throughout the whole car ride. When they arrived at the Gomez residence, he helped her light hand in hand.
Meanwhile, Derrick had long waited for them outside When he saw the code, he cond’t come his smile, “Exe, libry, you’re finally here.”
He held Abigail’s hand and asked, “How have you been doing lately, Mary? Is Harry’s coming suited to your taste!”
She smiled. “Nancy’s great, Grandpa. Her cooking is good that I think I’ve gained some went.”
“Is that so?” Derrick laughed. “You should eat more to replenish yourself. Anyway, come on in”
He was worried Abigail would get a cold from the night’s breeze
The family dinner was held once every month. It wasn’t a crowded occasion because Derrick only had two sons.
After they entered the living room and chatted for a while, Sebastian informed them that Eric’s uncle and his family had arrived.
Charles Gomez entered with his wife and two children, a broad smile on his face as he said, “Dad, we’re here. We’re not late, are we?
Derrick smiled, saying, “Of course not. Take a seat.”
“Thanks for having us, Derrick.” Charles‘ wife, Miranda Lane, piped up.
“1, Grandpa!”
“Hey, Grandpa!”
Charles‘ eldest son, Keaton Gomez, and daughter, Sally Gomez, greeted Derrick. Subsequently, they greeted Eric and Abigail. “Great to see you guys, Eric and Abigail.”
“Hey, what happened to Abigail?” Sally pretended to be surprised. “Her eyes aren’t focused. Is she blind?”
Charles and Miranda looked in Abigail’s direction. “Is that so, Abigail?”
Neither Abigail’s expression nor voice showed any emotion. “Yeah, I can’t see anymore.”
Eric explained, “She can’t see for now, but once she’s had the surgery, she’ll be fine.”
“Oh, my. How did it get to this?” Miranda regretfully remarked, “Abigail has such a beautiful pair of eyes. Thankfully, she can recover from an operation. Otherwise, it’d be such a pity,”
Out of nowhere, Sally blurted sarcastically, “Right? Thankfully, she has that kind of privilege. I can’t say the same for the victims who had died after consuming her father’s medicine! Wait–is this her punishment?”
“Sally!” Charles became grim. “What was that for? Apologize to Abigail now!”
She pouted and said, “Sorry, Abigail.”
It was a blatantly insincere apology.
Abigail’s countenance grew increasingly cold, but she remained quiet, pursing her lips.
An embarrassed Miranda smiled, apologizing, “Don’t take it to heart, Abigail. Sally is still a kid and doesn’t know better.”
“That’s because you didn’t teach her well as a mother!” Derrick scolded, “If I hear another rude remark from you, don’t bother coming here in the future. I don’t want anyone to ruin the family’s reputation.”
Miranda’s face dropped at those words. Charles quickly chimed in to salvage the situation. “You’re right, Dad. We’ll definitely give Sally a lesson when we’re home. Sally, sit down.”
Sally took her seat, looking aggrieved. Right then, Miranda changed the topic. “I wonder when Chanse and Lucy are corning,”
“They said they’re on the way,” Derrick stated dryly.
“What shitty luck,” Abigail thought.
