Chapter 75
Abigail was terrified. Her knuckles had turned white from clenching her hands tightly together. Desperate, she called out, “Peter?”
She could tell something was off but she had no idea what was going on.
What happened to the driver? What happened to Peter?
She heard what seemed to be a thud, as if something had fallen to the ground.
She wrapped her hand tightly around her white cane. If something was to go wrong, she would immediately use her cane as her weapon.
Suddenly, the door on her side swung open.
She was so startled that she immediately swung her cane over but it was caught by the person.
“There’s no need to be nervous, Ms. Reed. Our boss has instructed us to come and get you,” a stranger said. It was the voice of a man.
“Boss? Who’s your boss?” Abigail asked calmly.
“It’s me.” Chanse got out of his car. He took a glimpse at the driver and Peter, who were laying on the ground, before saying, “Everything’s been arranged. Today’s a good day. Let’s go, I’m sending you overseas.”
Abigail’s body tensed up. She didn’t expect Chanse would choose this day to send her abroad. And she most certainly did not think that he would use such a method.
She actually had no intention of going overseas. The fact that Chanse would actually feed her those kinds of drugs meant that he had the motive to actually kill her. She just did not know why he would want her dead.
Given the current situation, if she were to obediently go along with his arrangements and leave the country, would she even get to live?
Once she was out of the country, she would be exposed to all sorts of dangerous things without anyone to protect her. No one would be able to stop him from doing the worst. On top of that, she could not see.
There was no telling when she would be found dead in some foreign land.
“N–Now?” Abigail stammered. “Isn’t it too sudden? I haven’t had the time to pack all of my stuff…”
Chanse cut her off, “What else do you need? Is it accessories or clothes? I can give you the money and you can buy them once you’re there.”
“You must know that this is a rare opportunity. If Eric were to find out, you would not be able to leave. Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted?
“You were the one who begged me.”
Abigail pursed her lips.
If she were to reject him now, Chanse would be able to sense that something was off.
She had no choice but to agree, “Alright. Let’s go now.”
Chanse nodded his head happily and pulled her by the hand. He led her into his car.
As if sensing that Abigail was nervous, he reassured her, “Don’t worry. Everything you’ll need overseas, I’ve got it all arranged.”
Abigail seemed to have thought of something. She immediately said, “Today, Eric told me that he has found a donor. The surgery is scheduled for the day after tomorrow.
“I’d like to undergo the surgery before I leave the country, is that okay?”
The smile on Chanse’s face started to fade.
“It’s just a pair of corneas. I’ve also found a donor for you overseas. Once you arrive, they can immediately schedule the surgery for you.”
“It’s not that I’m stopping you from getting the surgery. I just think that this is a rare opportunity. We don’t have much time left.
“You can get the same transplant surgery overseas. What do you think?”
Abigail bit her lip, “You’re right.”
She was trying to drag things out to buy herself some time, but it seemed bleak now.
Chanse seemed set on getting her out of the country today.
What other options did she have? All Abigail could do now was pray in her heart that Eric would quickly find out about what was happening to her.
At the hospital, Bruce was still in a deadlock with Gavin’s bodyguard.
Even the hospital’s director was shocked. He tried to de–escalate the situation, “Mr. Tucker, please don’t create a scene… If rumors start spreading, your family’s reputation is going to be affected!
“If your parents find out about this, you might get punished…”
