Chapter 78
It would not make sense for Abigail to be with Lucy. That meant only one thing.
Eric suddenly raised his head and said, “Hurry! Go to the airport!”
The announcements at the airport never stopped. Abigail had no clue as to where she was being led to. She was very nervous.
“C–Can I use the toilet?” Abigail asked.
Chanse replied, “You can use the toilet on the plane. You’re going to be late if we don’t hurry.”
“But I have to go now.” Abigail continued pleading, “I’ll be fast. I won’t take long, please?”
Chanse scowled. He was starting to get annoyed, but then he remembered that Abigail was blind and that she would not be able to escape even if she wanted to.”
He agreed, “Fine, make it quick.”
“Okay.” Abigail nodded.
After groping her way to the toilet, Abigail hurriedly entered into one of the cubicles, locked the door, and leaned on the wall as she tried to catch her breath.
It was at this moment that someone walked into the cubicle next to hers.
She suddenly thought of something and asked, “Excuse me, miss. Could you help me out with something?”
The lady next door said with a hesitant tone, “Are you talking to me?”
“Yes! I’m actually visually impaired and I lost my phone. I can’t find my way home. Could you help me make a phone call to my family?”
Once the lady heard this, they immediately felt compassionate and said, “Sure, no problem! Hold on a second, I’m coming out.”
Abigail breathed a sigh of relief. Quickly, she unlocked her door and walked out.
“Miss?”
She felt a hand grab onto hers. “I’m over here. You’re really pretty! It’s really unfortunate that you’re visually impaired,” the lady said regretfully.
Abigail grabbed her hand tightly and said, “Please help me make a call, thank you! The number’s…”
She spelled out Eric’s phone number.
All these years, this was the only number she had memorized. She was extremely glad that she had his number memorized. It was coming in handy at such a critical moment.
The lady helped her make the call, but no one was picking up.
She tried calling the number a few times more but still, no one was picking up the phone.
“No one’s picking up,” the lady said helplessly. “Is it because your family doesn’t answer calls from strangers?”
“Then could you help me send a text? Tell him I’m at the airport and have him come pick me up!” Abigail said anxiously.
“Alright. Don’t worry, I’ll help you send the text.” The lady proceeded to help her send the text message. Then, she said, “Or, you could tell me your address.
“I can send you home too. I’ve got nothing on my schedule anyway.”
Before Abigail could say anything, a voice could be heard coming from outside, urging her.
“Abby, you done yet? You’re going to be late for your flight!”
The lady was surprised, “Are they calling you? Isn’t that your family? What’s going on?”
Abigail tried to explain, “I…”
“Abby? If you’re still not coming out, I’m going in!”
Abigail did not manage to say anything and had to rush out.
“I’m coming. I’m sorry it took some time, Grandpa.”
Chanse looked at Jack with a darkened expression and gave him a signal.
Jack immediately walked over to Abigail and picked her up.
“Pardon me, Ms. Reed. It’s faster this way.”
Abigail bit her lower lip, not daring to utter a single word.
She was even more certain now that Chanse’s plan of sending her abroad must be sinister, considering how much of a hurry he was in. “Let’s go quickly,” Chanse said in a low voice.
