Chapter 80
3/1
Chanse’s expression was twisted with rage, and Jack dared not let out his breath.
Eric’s footsteps were swift. Once they were out of the airport’s main entrance, he pulled open the car door and stuffed Abigail into the passenger seat.
Even though Abigail was visually impaired, she could sense the stifling air in the car.
She knew very well that Eric was livid.
She grabbed onto the seat belt, wanting to say something to break the tension in the air, but she did not know what to say.
Once they were back home, Eric opened the door and carried her down from the car. He then walked into the house with big strides.
Peter immediately rushed over, “Mr. Gomez, Mrs. Gomez…”
But Eric completely ignored him. His face was grim as he carried Abigail upstairs.
Peter was hesitant for a moment but eventually decided not to follow them upstairs.
Eric kicked the door open, which startled Abigail. He carried her into the room and kicked the door behind him again. He threw Abigail onto the bed with little care.
Abigail yelped from being startled. She quickly sat up. “Eric…”
“Do you want to leave that badly? To the point of begging Chanse?”
Eric’s voice was as cold as ice, “How could you still have wanted to leave even when you already know that I’ve found a donor for you? Did you think that I was lying to you? Or do you not trust me?”
Abigail shook her head, “It’s not like that! Chanse forcefully took me away. Did you not receive the message I had someone send to you?
“He had people knock Peter and Mike out and abducted me.
“He wanted me to leave the country. I said I wouldn’t go. I have to admit, at first, I’d wanted to leave, but that’s not the case anymore.
“But Chanse still wanted me out of the country, no matter what it took.
“The entire way to the airport, I kept thinking about ways to stall him. I’d even approached a stranger for help and asked her to call you, but you never picked up!”
When he heard this, Eric suddenly remembered the unknown number that had called him.
He did receive the message afterward but did not pay any attention to it.
“You really didn’t want to leave?” Eric asked, his brows knitted.
Abigail answered, “Of course not! Did you not see the bodyguard latching onto me? Chanse wanted to get me out of the country forcefully.
“Although I don’t know the reason for it, I have a feeling that he wanted to send me away.”
As she said these words, she had intended to test him as well.
She was unsure if Eric knew about the matter concerning the prohibited ingredients in the medicine.
After all, he was part of the Gomez family. She was worried that he might be on the same side as Chanse.
When Eric heard this, his brows furrowed deeper.
“I–I really didn’t want to leave. Do you believe me now?” Abigail asked cautiously.
Eric’s face softened slightly. Coldly, he said, “Let’s just say that I believe you this time. If this happens again, I won’t let you off the hook easily!”
Abigail lowered her head without saying anything. She remembered what he said before, that they would get a divorce once she got her eyesight back.
Was the deal still on?
The divorce would only impede her plan to investigate her father’s case.
No longer able to hold back, she asked, “What about the thing you mentioned before, where we would get a divorce once my eyesight gets restored…”
Eric answered swiftly, “I suddenly recall that I have some matters to attend to. Just call for Nancy if you need anything.”
Without giving Abigail a chance to respond, Eric had already made his way out.
The way he evaded her question was an obvious answer to Abigail.
He must really want the divorce. After all, he had never liked her. Helping her get her eyes treated was merely a duty to him.
The person he liked was Nicole. He would surely want to marry her eventually.
Abigail could not help but laugh at herself.
When Lucy found out that Chanse had falled to get Abigail out of the country, a wave of fury took over her features.
