Chapter 426
“Who gave you the illusion that you actually have any power? If it weren’t for the Lark familly, you’d be nothing. A fraud, and yet here you are, acting all arrogant Odalys sneered, her voice cold and merciless
Finnian’s eyes rolled back, his breath coming in labored gasps. It was only now that he realized Odalys wasn’t just threatening him—she truly intended to kill him.
Memories flooded his mind–of the past when Odalys had been the obedient, submissive woman in his grasp, a toy he could control and manipulate. When had he begun to look down on her? When had he decided to team up with Sophia to toy with her!
The images tormented him, and he struggled in desperation
A guttural scream escaped his throat as Odalys’s fist slammed into his chest, and blood began to pour from the corner of his mouth. His eyes widened in shock.
The sound echoed through the room as Odalys swung him with ease, throwing him to the ground.
He crashed roughly, flying a good 15 feet, and when he landed, his arm snapped under the force, the sickening crack of bone resounding in the air. Pain shot through him, and he cradled his broken arm, unable to rise.
As Odalys’s footstep echoed closer, a sense of true terror gripped him. He scrambled backward, his eyes frantic, his lips trembling as blood dripped from his mouth, staining the smooth floor beneath him.
Your mother pretended to be pregnant with the Lark family’s child and raised you for all these years, only to return you to them. But you were never really born of them, were you! After all, Orson’s father was drugged, wasn’t her Odalys’s voice was sharp as a blade.
“How did you become the Lark family’s allegitimate child, and did your mother never tell you the truth?” Odalys’s words were a bitter sting. Finnian stared at her, caught off guard, unable to comprehend
“Why do you think you and Sophia click so easily? Why is it that you’re bound to her fate, that she controls you with her Love Spell and feeds off your luck, causing you to spiral into misfortune? Haven’t you ever wondered why, out of all the people in the world, she specifically targeted you?” Odalys’s voice was chilling as she pressed forward, each word a cold accusation.
Finnian was frozen, lost in confusion. These were things he had never considered, never dared to think about.
“Why is Windsor involving you again? Bringing you to the hospital to threaten Sophia! Why does everything in your life seem to be tangled with hers?” Odalys continued, her eyes never leaving him.
Finnian had no answers. He was trapped in a web of confusion and fear.
“Till show you something,” Odalys said with an almost casual tone.
She reached forward, her fingers brushing against Finnian’s eyelids, pressing lightly on his wrist. “See this? Odalys’s voice dropped to a whisper. “A death line, bound to your wrist. The other end It’s tied to Sophia.
“You and she are intertwined, bound to each other’s fate. The worse you fare, the better she does. She’s been stealing your luck, sucking the life out of you.
“Before the cast her Love Spell on you, your luck and hers were both flourishing. But once she started draining your energy, your life began to go downhill,” Odalys explained, her voice calm but chilling
Finnian’s body trembled as he tried to shake the invisible line from his wrist. No matter what he did, it wouldn’t break free. Desperation clawed at him as he reached for it, but his hand could never touch the line, never sever its hold
“What… what is this death liner Finian’s voice shook with fear.
The terror in his voice only deepened as Odalys’s words came crashing down on him.
“You were raised to provide her with luck, to feed her energy, and that death line only affects you. But there’s a way to fight back. If you can steal her luck, the death line will turn back on her. Only then will you be saved; Odalys explained, her voice strangely gentle despite the deadly nature of her
words.
Finian’s eyes flickered with something akin to hope, as if a sliver of light had pierced through his despair.
“I can still be saved? How do I steal her luck back?” His voice trembled with excitement, his broken body still reeling from the pain.

Odalys remained silent, turning away without another word.
“Wait” Finnan shouted, scrambling to his feet despite the agony in his arm. “Odalys, you haven’t told me how to steal her luck back! How do I turn this death line against her?”
But Odalys had already walked away, her footsteps echoing coldly down the hallway. He tried to chase after her, but his injury was too severe. With a sickening thaid, he collapsed again, his body unable to keep up with his frantic desperation.
Odalys didn’t look back as she left. As she rounded the corner, she saw Orson leaning against the wall, his posture relaxed but his eyes sharp with
attention
He had just finished a call with the Lark family. Their people had already begun moving, and they had quickly pinpointed Orson’s location. He had been on his way to meet Odalys when their paths had crossed.
Is what you said true? Orson asked his voice a mix of disbelief and curiosity.
The concept of a death line was new to him.
“Half–true. half–false, Odalys replied cryptically. “Finnian’s mother is probably connected to the Bennett family. You should have someone keep an eye on her–see if she makes contact with anyone from the Bennett family”
She paused, a hint of intrigue in her voice. “The Bennett family’s waters run deep. Even Edie had to marry Henry in a flash just to get close
them
Her words carried an unspoken warning–sometimes the most insignificant places could hide the greatest dangers.
“What about Finnian!”
n!” Orson asked, his tone uncertain. “Should I have him killed or locked up?
to
Odalys’s gaze was unwavering. “No. What I said to him earlier is enough to stir up the hatred in his heart–both toward his mother and Sophia. What I need from him is that raw, burning hatred, his desire for revenge”
Her voice was tinged with urgency. “I need to push Sophia’s hate to the extreme. That’s my only chance to get the medicine I need. If I don’t take drastic measures, Percival might really die, and I won’t allow that
Orson nodded, understanding her urgency. “Understood.”
Without further w
words, Odalys left, and Orson sent his people to track Finnian’s every move.
Meanwhile, in the hospital, chaos reigned outside the operating roo

Hannah sat with a scowl on her face, her gaze fixed on Edie, who was still groggy and disoriented from the ordeal. Edie’s body ached, and the images of the horror she had witnessed in the bathroom kept replaying in her mind
“Hannah, are you sure I only passed out in the bathroom! I didn’t see anything else?” Edie asked, her voice trembling with uncertainty.
If she could, she would’ve preferred to stay silent, but she needed answers.
Once best friends, their relationship had soured after a falling–out. Now, their bond was fractured, neither truly friends nor enemies.
“Is that what you’re saying” Hannah shot back sarcastically. “Are you trying to pin this on me? Or maybe you’re pretending to be pregnant again? 1 remember when you had that miscarriage–guess you’ll never carry a child again”
Edie’s face darkened instantly. She sat back, closing her eyes slowly, the gruesome image of the bloody bathroom and the hand reaching for her foot haunting her thoughts.
