Chapter 15
“Okay, I’m on my way,” Josiah said and hung up the phone, feeling completely overwhelmed.
It’s the middle of the night, and Sienna’s in trouble again! Ever since she got back, there hasn’t been a moment of peace. The police station and assault? New tricks, huh? he sneered, irritated
Grinding his teeth, Josiah left the house and rushed to South Jerity Police Station.
It was late at night, and the roads were clear. Josial arrived in less than half an hour.
At the entrance, Stephen stopped him, “Who are you? You can’t st walk into the station”
“You guys called me,” Josiah replied, his handsome face serious, yes lowered. “Is Sienna inside? Im her… friend
“Sienna? Alright, you can go in.” Stephen allowed him to pass and shouted inside, “Jackson, Sienna’s friend is here!”
“Really? Bring him over.” Jackson replied.
My family? Who? Sienna was startled, sitting there in confusion As she turned around, she saw Josiah’s face, angry but still good–looking. She was even more puzzled–why was it him?
“Sienna, level with me. Did you do this on purpose? Are you trying to stir up trouble, make things tough for met Is this your new way of clinging to me?” Josiah fired off the questions like a barrage.
How familiar this scene is. Four years ago, when Yvette fell downstairs, he was just like this, he was just like this–accusing me without any evidence, Sienna thought.
She opened her mouth, trying to explain, but finally, but in the end, she gave up. Forget it. Let him think what he wants. Soon enough, we’ll go our separate ways. How he sees me does matter at all
Josiah laughed in irritation. “Say something, will you? Did I hit the nail on the head, or what? And to think Grandma said you’ve changed, matured!”
“Even I fell for it once. But it was all a sham, just a mirage!‘ le mettered under his breath, a sneer tugging at his lips as anger simmered inside him.
“Well…” Jackson finally spoke up, pulling Josiah aside. “Calm down. Let me explain the situation to you.”
“Okay.” Josiah held back his anger and nodded, “Go ahead.”
Jackson explained everything in detail and summarized, “We recommend a settlement–pay some money and be done with it. Going to court without evidence is a waste of time and resources, right?”
Josiah fell silent and couldn’t help but look toward Sienna. ‘She was bullied by Mike? Is that why she fought back? So, she wasn’t trying to cause trouble?‘
Reflecting on it, he realized the only reason she had met Mike was because he hadn’t given her a ride. His face darkened, and his mouth set into a grim line as he turned to Jackson. “Okay I agree to settle.”
“No way!” Sienna stood up, her stance firm as she faced Jackson, don’t know him. He has no right to decide for me. -agree to a settlement. I don’t have a single penny!
I don’t
Jackson was at a loss for words, looking visibly troubled.
“Enough, Sienna! Just for a mere 1,500 dollars, you’re going to keep causing a scene?” Josiah snapped before turning to Jackson. “Don’t listen to her. I’ll handle the paperwork.”

“Okay, please this way.” Jackson nodded immediately.
Sienna clenched her teeth, glaring at Josiah angrily, “Stay out of my business, Josiah! I told you, I won’t settle.

‘Not done yet, huh?‘ Josiah’s face darkened as a wry smile crept into his lips. “Oh, really! What’s your plan, then? Because I’m definitely taking care of this my own way.”
“Josiah Flynn!” Sienna yelled, but it was no use. Her eyes welled up, and her heart ached at the thought of losing fifteen hundred bucks.
In the end. Josiah paid the money, signed the papers, and wrapped things up.
“Alright, head over there to collect her stuff, and then you can leave,” Jackson said.
“Okay, thanks.” Josiah turned and found Sienna. “Let’s go get your things.”
Sienna ignored him, getting up and walking straight to Stephen
“Here you go. Check if everything’s there. Stephen handed her the bag.
“Okay.” Sienna looked inside–phone, keychain, pepper spray, a half brick, and more. “It’s all here.”
Josiah’s eyes widened as they fell on the half brick. ‘It’s normal for girls to carry pepper spray for safety, but a half brick?‘ He shook his head, clearly taken aback
“Seriously, you carry this thing around?” Josiah asked, lifting the half brick, noting the dried blood on it.
Sienna didn’t respond. She took the half brick from his hand, preparing to put it in her bag.
“Wait,” Stephen interrupted. “Sienna, bricks are considered dangerous items. You can’t take it with you.”
Sienna paused. “Really?”
“Yep, Stephen chuckled, “Even though it’s not a metal weapon, it can still do some serious damage. Normally, you wouldn’t get through a subway security check with that thing. You got lucky this time, but don’t bring it again.”
“Alright, I get it.” Sienna bit her lip, looking a bit sad. She stuffed the rest of her stuff into her bag and zipped it up. “See you
Officer.
Stephen smiled, “See you.”
With a quick motion, Sienna turned and left the police station, almost gliding out the door. “Hey, Sienna!” Josiah called after her, hurrying to catch up. “Wait for me, I’ll drive you back.” “Don’t touch me. Sienna spun around, her charming eyes flashing with warning. “Stay away.” Josiah paused and raised his hands. “Okay, I won’t touch you or get closer. Just relax.”
He had never seen Sienna like this–like a scared little animal, bring its teeth as if ready to bite. Instinctively, he lowered his voice. “My car’s over there. It’s late; should we head back?”
Sienna gradually calmed down. The night was wearing on, and she was tired. She really didn’t want to have another incident that would land her back at the police station. So, she clutched her backpack tightly and nodded.
“Let’s go,” Josiah sighed in relief, leading her to the car and opening the passenger door for her.
However, Sienna walked around to the back, opened the door, and climbed in

Josiah paused for a moment, then closed the passenger door and got into the driver’s seat. As they drove away, he glanced at the back seat through the rearview mirror,
Sienna was curled up in the corner with her backpack, her eyes tightly shut, clearly not interested in talking to him.
Josiah frowned. The current Sienna didn’t match the one he remembered.
Half an hour later, they arrived back at Silver Beach. He stopped the car and said, “We’re here.”
But there was no response from the back seat.
“Sienna…” Josiah turned around, only to see her half–lying down mouth slightly open–she appeared to have dozed off.
Without giving it much thought, he stepped out of the car, opened the back door, and gently tapped Sienna’s shoulder. “We’re here. Wake up.”
But Sienna remained fast asleep.
Josiah tried to rouse her again but then hesitated. It was his fault for the way the night had gone. With a soft sigh, he made up his mind to do the considerate thing and carry her inside.
He reached out, slipping one arm under Sienna’s neck and resting it on her shoulders while the other arm went under her knees. Just as he was about to lift her, she opened her eyes.
Meeting her bright eyes, Josiah felt a sudden flutter, which threw him off balance and made him stumble towards her. With no time to react, his lips ended up right on hers.
