Chapter 319
“Josiah!” Sienna gasped, her mind going blank for a moment as she dropped to one knee. In a hurry, she scooped up Joyce into her arms, then rushed over to check on Josiah,
“Whoah…” Joyce pouted in her embrace, about to burst into tears.
“Hey, Joyce, it’s okay! Mommy’s here. Sienna quickly reassured her, trying to calm the little one down.
What han
“What happened!” Tara, hearing the commotion, stepped out of the room and flicked on the bright overhead light
“Tara! You came just in time!” Sienna hurriedly handed Joyce to her. Just then, Tara noticed Josiah lying on the floor.
“Mr. Flynn! What happened to him?” she exclaimed, panic in her voice.
With no time
p! Can you hear me?”
no time to respond, Sienna dropped down beside Josiah, gently tapping his face and shoulders. “Josiah, wake up!
She immediately checked for his breath and pulse. They were there, but his face was so pale, it seemed almost transparent.
Not knowing how serious his condition was. Sienna hesitated to move him.
Taking a deep breath, she tried to remain calm, grabbed her phone, and dialed 911. “Hi, this is Sunshine Neighborhood…” She quickly reported the address and explained the situation as best she could.
Just as she hung up, she heard a knock at the door. Who could it be? It must be too soon for the ambulance. She rushed to the door and found
Chester and James waiting outside.
“Ms. Shaw, was that you calling out? Did something happen to Mr. Flynn!” Chester asked, concern etched on his face.
“Yes!” Sienna nodded urgently, stepping aside. “He collapsed
At that, Chester and James rushed in, quickly moving to lift Josiah onto Chester’s back.
The instant Josiah was on Chester, Sienna gasped and clamped a hand over her mouth
shock
The overhead light illuminated the scene, casting a stark light on the snow white collar of Josiah’s shirt, now stained with crimson. Blood trickled down from the back of his head and neck.
Sienna paused, her breath hitching. I’ve already called 911; they should be here soon”
“We should go wait downstairs,” Chester said, gently hoisting Josiah over his shoulder and moving ahead.
James shot a glance at Sienna. “Ms. Shaw, why don’t you come with us?”
Sienna furrowed her brow, hesitating for a moment before nodding. “Okay”
At the hospital, outside the operating room, Josiah was rushed inside while Sienna sat on a bench nearby, her eyes downcast, focused on the tips of
her shoes
On the way here. James filled her in. She knew that Josiah had been injured while rushing to Sunshine Neighborhood… because of an agreement with Joyce.
Footsteps echoed on the floor–steady
sharp, no doubt hurried.
Sienna lifted her gaze to see Howard and Yvette walking in
“Sienna.” Howard started, but Yvette cut him off, her eyes burning with anger as she asked Sienna.
“You’re unbelievable! Josiah just got off the plane, and you insisted he come see you, despite him being so badly hurt!”
Tinsisted!
Chapter 319
Sienna’s delicate brows furrowed, a hint of humor tugging at her lips. “Fine. Why would he force himself to come see me when he was injured? It’s honestly quite annoying”
“What?” Yvette’s eyes widened in fury. “How can you say such a thing! Sienna, do you even have a heart!”
Sienna rolled her eyes, turning away to ignore her.
Yvette’s temper flared as she yanked Sienna’s arm. “You need to leave right now! Y
1 You don’t deserve to be here.”
“Let go. Sienna twisted her wrist free, glaring at Yvette like a dagger. “Whether I choose to leave or stay is my own decision
“Get out! I told you to get out!”
“Enough!”
Howard, who had been silent, suddenly erupted, his face dark with anger. “Stop it! This noise is just making it harder for Josiah to rest!”
Howard appeared gentle at first glance but actually emanated a coldness that could push anyone away. When she got angry, there was no one who wouldn’t feel intimidated.
In that heavy atmosphere, Yvette fell silent, reluctantly releasing her grip.
Sienna let out a faint, cold laugh, smoothing out her wrinkled collar before stepping aside to avoid Yvette, as if pretending Yvette wasn’t there.
The long wait stretched on, with dawn approaching. Finally, the doors of the operating room swung open.
“Doctor” Howard was the first to step forward.
“Mr. Flynn,” the doctor replied, removing his mask with a discerning expression. The surgery was successful. Your brother is currently stable.”
“Currently!” Howard repeated.
The word sent a jolt of fear through him. He narrowed his eyes. “What do you mean by ‘currently? Be clear.”
The doctor paused, continuing, “Mr. Flynn, your brother was brought in a bit late, missing the optimal window for surgery. For now, we just need to wait for him to wake up.”
ent Yvette shooting a furious glare at Sienna, clearly indicating that it was all her fault.
His words sent
Sienna lowered her gaze, remaining silent.
Howard’s brow furrowed tighter. “When will he wake up?”
“That is hard to say. He may wake up in the next moment, or it might take two or three days. It could even be three years or more.”
The unsaid words hung heavily in the air.
Sienna’s heart tightened at the familiar sentiment; she recalled that year when Howard had that terrible accident–the doctor had said the same thing
What had happened then? Howard had been in a coma for four ye
r years.
The doctor continued, “Let’s get
et the paperwork done to transfer him to a
a regular room. He’ll need close monitoring for 72 hours. If he wakes up within that timeframe, he should be fine.”
Howard took a deep breath, keeping calm as he nodded. “Alright.”
At that moment, Josiah was directly transferred to the VIP suite.
He lay asleep, a breathing mask strapped to his face and monitoring equipment surrounding him.
Once everything was settled, the doctor turned to Josiah and said, “Howard, if possible, please have family and loved ones stay close to him and talk
to him”
The doctor turned to Josiah and said, “Howard, if possible, please have family and loved ones stay close to him and talk to him.”
He pointed to the patient’s ears. “Even though Josiah is in a coma, he can still hear you.”
Howard nodded, fully aware of this from his own past experiences with comas.
“Howard, I’ll be in the duty room. Just call for me if you need anything, and I’ll come by to check regularly.”
“Ok” Once the doctor left, Howard turned to Sienna and Yvette. “Let’s go see Josiah.”
He led the way, with Yvette right behind him and Sienna trailing at the end.
As they stepped inside, the first thing they heard was the rhythmic sound of the ventilator and the beeping of the monitor, while a nurse jotted down notes at the side.
Standing at his brother’s bedside, Howard furrowed his brow. “Josiah, I believe in you. You’re going to pull through and wake up
Then, as if remembering something, he glanced at Sienna. “Sienna…
–
soon.
Just as he started speaking, Sienna suddenly turned and walked straight toward the exit.
“Sienna,” Howard said.
“Sienna!” Yvette called out.
Sienna seemed to ignore them, pressing forward without a glance back. She picked up her pace, and before she knew it, she was running.
She had to get out of there. Right now.
