Chapter 326
Rosie was at the care home. Amy dressed her in a coat, hat, and scarf. Rosie chuckled, “It’s just a few steps; isn’t this too much?”
“It’s necessary. How could it not be?” Amy was older than Rosie. She replied disapprovingly. “It’s windy outside. It’s better to be cautious.
“Alright, Ell listen to you, Amy,” Rosie said.
Let’s go.” Amy smiled and linked arms with Rosie as they walked out the door.
Since it was Christmas Day, the care home had organized some New Year activities, gathering those who couldn’t return home to ensure no one felt lonely. Of course, the activities were voluntary for those who preferred quiet.
Naturally. Amy persuaded Rosie to come. When they got to the activity room, Amy found a place and helped Rosic sit down. “Ms. Miller, wait here for a bit. I’ll get you some snacks. There will be a show soon. We can enjoy it together.”
“Okay,” Rosie nodded with a smile, taking off her coat and placing it on the chair next to her to save the spot for Amy-
Suddenly, she realized someone had moved her coat “Excuse me.”
Rosie widened her eyes and turned to the person. “My caregiver takes this seat. I can’t see, and she sits next to me to help. Could you please find another seat?”
However, Howard just sat there. Rosie’s eyes widened more. She thought. This person is annoyed. How rude and inconsiderate:
Howard casually placed her coat on the chair beside them and looked at her. He thought, ‘Hmm? Is she upset? Howard smiled. Tasked your caregiver to move over one seat. Is that okay?”
Rosie thought. That voice… She was surprised and muttered. “It’s you
Howard nodded. “Yes, it’s me, Happy New Year”
Rosie’s expression softened I into a gentle smile. “Happy New Year. Didn’t you go home for Christmas Day?”
Howard replied. “Yeah, I just got back. How about you?”
“Me too, Rosie replied
Amy returned, carrying two plates of snacks. Seeing Howard, they nodded quietly.
Howard took one of the plates and handed it to Rosie. “Let me take it. If you need help, just ask me.”
Rosie smiled g
gratefully, thinking how kind he was. She offered, “Thanks. You can help yourself too; I can’t see, so you’ll need to get it yourself.”
Thanks, Howard said.
“You’re welcome.” Rosie replied.
On stage, someone was putting on a show. Rosie listened to the lively sounds, while Howard wasn’t interested. He was concerned about Rosie’s eyes, wondering if they were getting better. He thought, Are they still swollen? Is her head still hurting?
Howard swallowed and asked softly, “Are your eyes alright?”
“Hmm?” Rosie turned her attention to him, paused, and then laughed, “They’re okay, except I can’t see.
Howard frowned, “I heard that some peop
people can’t see, but they still feel pain and discomfort. How about you?”
Rosie tilted her head curiously. “So others experience this too? I wasn’t feeling well yesterday, but after seeing the doctor and taking so

Rosie found a piece of candy on the dish and handed it to Howard. “Here, a sweet treat for the New Year. Things will only improve.
“Okay” Howard took the candy, a smile spreading on his lips.
After the event, Howard walked behind Rosie as they returned. At her room’s door, Howard stopped her, “Hold on.”
Rosie turned back to look at him. “What’s the matter?”
Howard reached into his pocket and took out a box. It was a pencil case. He handed it to Rosie. “This is for you, a New Year

Howard said. “Just take it. The company gave it out at the year–end party, and I don’t have any use for it. If you don’t want it, I’ll just throw it away” Rosie hesitated and replied, “Okay, thank you”
“You’re welcome. Howard replied.
Rosie accepted it, rubbing it slightly. “What is this?” As a designer, she quickly figured it out when she touched it. Her eyes widened, “Is it a drawing pen?”
Howard nodded. “Yes. I wasn’t sure if you’d find it useful”
Rosie smiled, I definitely will. I’m in design”
Howard raised an eyebrow, “Really? Isn’t that convenient? A happy accident. I’d say
It was a pleasant surprise for her. Rosie laughed. “Then I’ll keep it”
“Yep.” Howard said.
Rosie turned to walk inside but suddenly remembered something and turned back. “By the way, it seems we haven’t introduced ourselves yet. My

Outside the corridor, down the steps, by the flower bed, Yvette stood there, her eyes filled w
with shock and disbelief.
Howard frowned, quickly descended the steps, and walked straight to her. Without a word, he grabbed her wrist. “Let’s talk outside.”
suddenly
Yvette, feeling dazed with her head throbbing painfully, hadn’t fully come to her senses when Howard dragged her out of the courtyard Suddenly, she snapped back to reality. “Howard! Let go of me!”
Howard abruptly turned back to her with a serious tone. “Calm down. Whatever you want to know or ask, I’ll tell you”
“Really?” Yvette’s eyes slowly turned red as she let out a bitter laugh. “Are you ready to talk now? Didn’t you keep assuring me that you hadn’t betrayed me or had someone che?”
Howard furrowed his brows and remained silent.
“Speak up!” Yvette’s eyes were filled with anger as she grabbed his collar, her voice sharp and piercing. “Howard, have you gone mute?”
