Zoey couldn’t see anyone, but she definitely heard the door creak open and footsteps approaching. “I gotta hang up. I’ll catch up with you later, she whispered to the other end.
“Alright,” Hazel replied.
After hanging up, Hazel suddenly remembered a family with the last name “Cordon“, though it wasn’t “Horton Zoey had mentioned. She thought to herself, The Gordon family? That’s a top–tier, billion–dollar dynasty.
People would kill just for a chance to meet someone in charge. Zoey’s just an ordinary girl. I don’t believe she’s got any connection to them. I’m probably just overthinking this
Back in the ward, Zoey wore a soft smile as she ended the call and said, “Hi, Mr. Horton
Levi was a bit taken aback, and he asked, “How’d you know it wasne?”
“I can recognize your footsteps, Zocy explained in a sweet tone
Levi was amused by her answer, and he thought to himself, ‘She might seem a bit clueless, but she’s got sharp ears
I came to let you know that the overseas doctor has been scheduled. They’ll be here to perform your surgery days. Once it’s done, you’ll be able to leave the hospital, Levi sag
Zoey’s heart leaped in excitement. “Really? After the surgery, I’ll be able to see the world again!”
“Not right away. You’ll still need some time to recover,” Levi explained to her.
a couple of
However, that was enough to make Zoey want to jump for joy, Inside, she was screaming. “Yes! I’m going to be able to see again!
The blue sky, the green trees, and the warm sun… all of them will come back into my world: Tears started streaming down her face without her even realizing it.
Sitting on the bed, pale and fragile, she looked heartbreakingly delicate as she cried. Levi stared at her, a flicker of helplessness passing through him. He thought, Again Jeez! Why does she cry so much? I hate fragile women. They’re just
Too much trouble.
Zoey suddenly remembered something and hesitated before speking. “By the way, can you find me a place to stay after I’m discharged? I don’t know where I can go now…”
“We’re married. You can live with me, Levi replied. He had already bought an apartment near her university. She could move in once she was out of the hospital
Levi thought if she behaved, she could keep the title of “Mrs. Gordon” for as long as she wanted. But if she stepped out of line, Levi wouldn’t show mercy
“Thanks” Zoey said, but a question popped into her head, and she blurted it out, “Wait, does that mean we’re living together?”
Levi gave her a sly grin and teased, “What do you think, my dear wife?”
Zoey immediately realized how dumb her question was. Of course we’ll live together. We’re married. Anyway, living with him is still better than going back to that so–called home, she scoffed herself inwardly.

The thought of living under the same roof as a man she barely knew made Zoey’s cheeks flush with heat. She gripped the blanket tightly, feeling a mix of nervousness and an unexpected tinge of excitement, her heart racing a little faster with each thought.
Just then, Levi’s voice interrupted her reverie. “What’s on your mind?”
Zoey quickly shook her head. “N–nothing,” she stammered, feeling embarrassed. If he knew what was going on in my head, he’d probably think it was hilarious.
I haven’t even seen my husband’s face yet, and I’m already worried about whether he’s good–looking. Hopefully, he’s not too ugly… I’m kind of shallow like thar, she muttered in her mind.
Taking a deep breath, she shifted the conversation. “Mr. Horton, can you do me a favor?”
Levi raised his eyebrows and replied. “Go on.”
“Because of the car accident. I missed my college registration, and they say one of my immediate family members has to go in person to complete the paperwork. If not, they’ll cancel my enrollment.”
Levi’s expression remained calm, though his quick mind had already pieced together what she was asking. “You want me to handle it for you?”
Zoey nodded, anxiety creeping into her voice. “Yeah. My family completely against me going to college. If they find out they’ll probably tell the school to revoke my spot. Her face tensed slightly as she thought about her family. They just wanted to marry her off and get her husband to support them all
With a quiet hum, Levi gave a sample nod. “I’ll take care of it.”
After leaving the ward, Levi called his assistant. There was no need for him to handle this personally; his assistant could manage the paperwork. After all, Gordon Group had donated to universities for years, and Zoey’s school had several buildings funded by his company. Levi knew the principal would bend over backward to do whatever he asked.
Midway through the call, the assistant hesitated for a moment before bringing up what had happened in the car. Levi’s face darkened instantly as he heard that. I see,” he said, his tone dropping. He had known Zoey’s home life wasn’t ideal, but he never thought it was worse than he’d imagined.
Selling off a young girl, fresh into university, to a 15–year–old cripple for money… What kind of parents would do that? No wonder she’s so delicate and always on the verge of tears. Turns out she’s been through hell. Levi thought, his anger rising
“Mr. Gordon, about Mrs. Gordon…” the assistant continued to say cautiously.
With a frown, Levi cut him off in a cold voice. “She’s not part of thy family yet. Don’t let me hear you call her thar again” This marriage had been arranged by his grandmother, and Levi had never agreed to it willingly. Hearing Zoey called “Mrs. Gordon” only added to his annoyance.
His assistant quickly corrected himself, “Understood, sir. Should I refer to her as Ms. Miller instead?”
Levi gave a curt nod. “That’ll do.”
The Gordon family had brought in the most advanced medical eam from overseas and flew them into Brandor on a private jet. As Zoey was being wheeled into the operating room, she nervously grabbed Levi’s jacket, her voice trembling like a frightened kitten. “Mr. Horton… I’m scared
Everyone around her froze, shocked at her boldness. Everyone hew Levi was a germaphobe and couldn’t stand women getting too close.

Chapter 6
There had been countless models and celebrities who had tried to scheme their way into his bed, some even stripping down right in front of him, only to be thrown out without a second glance. Those who didn’t know their place were blacklisted
The onlookers couldn’t help but wonder. Who is this girl? She actually dares to grab Mr. Gordon’s clothes? Surely he’s going To shake her off without a second thought, right? But to everyone’s utter disbelief, Levi didn’t push her away, nor did he snap at her.
The man known for being ruthless and tight–lipped, the heir to one of the most powerful families, did something unimaginable. He actually comforted her and said, “Relax, I’m here.”

To everyone present, it was just like the ninth miracle in the work. ‘Mr. Gordon is comforting someone, and a especially The thought running through everyone’s mind was the same, ‘Is this really the same Mr. Gordon we know?
Soon after Zoey was wheeled inside the operating room, a nurse came out and called for Levi “Mr. Gordon, we need a family member of Ms. Miller to sign the consent form.”
“I’ll sign, Levi replied without hesitation.
The nurse blinked, clearly confused. “But you’re not her immediate family. Legally, you can’t sign for her.”
Levi shot her an icy glare, and the chill in his eyes was enough to silence any further objections. Terrified, the nurse scurried back into the operating room, where she found out from her superior that Levi was, in fact, considered Zoey’s immediate family.
“But they don’t even share the same last name. What kind of family member is he?” the nurse asked.
Her superior’s face remained unreadable as she replied. “That’s one of your concern. Just focus on the surgery
The operation lasted four hours. When Zoey was finally wheeled out, her eyes were wrapped in white bandages. Her face was so small, and the bandages covered most of it, leaving only the tip of her nose and her delicate chin exposed.
It felt like she’d been asleep for ages. When she woke up, the darkness that had surrounded her for so long was gone, replaced by a faint glimmer of light. Even though the bandages were still there, she could sense a soft, hazy light filtering through and reaching her eyes..
“I can see something. Zoey exclaimed.
Levi’s calm voice came from above her. “You can’t take off the bandages just yet.”
Only then did Zoey realize Levi was in the room with her. Zoey said to him, “Mr. Horton, I didn’t cry at all during the surgery. Am I brave?”
Levi put on a smile and replied, “Yeah, you are. So I’ve got you a gift
