She didn’t submit a letter of leniency.

Chapter 8 The Perfect Wedding Gift
After Jasmin was caught stealing, she tried to pin it on me yet again. This time, the punishment for her crime was going to be severe.
Rebecca and Henry were so desperate that they used their connections everywhere and spent over 1 million trying to bribe the judge and the police, but they were swindled by a con artist and received nothing for all their efforts.
They reported it to the authorities, but the con artist was never found.
Rebecca and Henry fought constantly, and things even got physical. Both of them ended up with visible injuries. Rebecca even had to be hospitalized for a few days.
Despite all the tricks they pulled, nothing could change the outcome of the trial.
Jasmine was sentenced to twelve years in prison.
On the day of the verdict, she cried so hard that she lost her voice. Her legs gave out, and she couldn’t even walk. The court bailiff had to drag her away.
Henry looked completely dejected. Rebecca cried until she passed out twice, and the atmosphere at their house was shrouded in an oppressive gloom.
I went to their house with Lucas by my side.
“When do you plan to give me the house and the money?” I asked calmly.
Rebecca’s face flushed with anger the moment she realized I was there to collect my debt.
“You heartless leech! You’ve already ruined Jasmine’s life by sending her to prison, and now you want to take our house and money, too? Are you even human?”
She glared at me with her teeth clenched, and she looked like she might hit me.
In the past, Joziah would step in, take the hit for me, apologize, and try to smooth things
over.
Fortunately, Lucas was here, and he shoved Rebecca aside.
He stood in front of me, clearly more enraged than I was.
“You’ve told so many lies that you have started to believe them yourself. Jasmine stole money. Naturally, she deserves to go to prison for it. How is that Kaelyn’s fault? And as for the house and money? Those were hers to begin with! How could you even claim that she’s stealing from you?
“You’ve taken so much money from her parents and lived in her house rent–free for all these years. The fact that she didn’t charge you interest or rent was already a kindness. And now you’re treating her inheritance as if it’s your own. Don’t you have

Henry stepped forward with a pitiful expression upon seeing that Lucas wasn’t easy prey

like Joziah. “Kae, we were the ones who raised you. Are you really going to push us to the brink like this?”
I stepped out from behind Lucas. “I’m only taking back what belongs to me. How is that wrong?”
Since they refused to return what was rightfully mine, I filed a lawsuit and requested enforcement from the courts.
I didn’t stop there. I also compiled everything my uncle and aunt had done over the years into a detailed PowerPoint presentation and posted it online. I even reported them to their workplaces.
They embezzled my parents‘ inheritance, defamed and assaulted me multiple times, and tried to bribe judges and police officers. Their actions were beyond disgraceful.
Both of them were promptly fired from their workplaces.
The court transferred my parents‘ house back into my name. Meanwhile, my uncle and aunt’s savings, which were pretty much a pittance after their stunt of trying to bail Jasmine out, were swindled away by con artists. Their house was auctioned off, and the proceeds, over 1.5 million dollars, were deposited directly into my account.
They had barely more than 40,000 left between them. It was clear to them that the days ahead were going to be rough.
Joziah had gotten used to me, always catering to his needs, enduring everything silently. After we broke up, he went through a few relationships, but none of them worked out. Eventually, he tried to win me back.
I didn’t hesitate to expose all his plans against his father and brother. On top of that, I reported his company for tax evasion.
Joziah was furious as he confronted me in disbelief. “Why? I loved you with all my heart. Why would you do this to me?”
I looked him in the eye and said coldly, “Because you’re a lowly person.”
Then, I blocked him.
He was left scrambling to deal with the fallout from his family and his collapsing company and was far too occupied to ever bother me again.
I had been seeing Lucas for three years. I could tell that we had good chemistry. So, we decided to take things to the next level and get married.
On the day of our wedding, the Roach Family’s company officially declared bankruptcy.
I have to say that it was the perfect wedding gift.
