Chapter 7
After breakfast, lan mysteriously told me he wanted to take me somewhere.
He used to play tricks on me on my birthday when I was little. So, I was alert.
“Ian. you’re not a kid anymore. Stop acting childish.”
But he didn’t give me a choice and put me into the car.
“You’ll know later. It’s a surprise.”
To keep it mysterious, he even made me wear a blindfold after we got there.
I got out of the car. Birds were chirping, and the fragrance of flowers wafted into my nostrils.
I removed the blindfold and found myself in a manor, surrounded by lavenders.
There was an exquisitely designed swing among the flowers.
“So? You like it?”
Ian winked at me.
He was being mischievous. I was certain he didn’t prepare all this.
The next second, a magnetic voice came from behind me.
“Grace, this will be your home from today on. Happy birthday!”

I was always attracted to beautiful voices. They made me happy.
I turned around. When I saw the man, I was amazed for a moment.
If I wasn’t mistaken, this must be my future husband Patrick.
He was standing among the flowers, with a tall and inverted triangle figure. The smile on his face was like the warm and soft sunshine.
He was like the hero of a trendy drama.
My heart skipped a beat. With a smile, I said hello and thanked him.
In return, he gave me a property ownership certificate and some keys.
I was stunned to see that the certificate was issued three years ago. It had my name on it.
I looked at Patrick in shock.
“These are…”
Ian couldn’t wait to solve the mystery.
“Patrick designed all this, and he supervised the project. It took a year to complete it. The inspiration was you.”
Me?
But I didn’t know Patrick three years ago.
As if he had read my mind, Ian remained quiet this time.
He pushed me in front of Patrick and left.
“Grace, you two talk. I have to go back to the company.”
Birds sang, and flowers bloomed.

Patrick pointed at the swing and motioned for me to have a try.

Standing behind me, he pushed gently. The breeze stirred my long hair and brought his fresh scent into my nose.
He told me a story, and my memory came back.
Ten years ago, Patrick and I were trapped in a fire. His parents had just died. Watching the fire roar, he lost his will to live.
When the burning door fell, I dragged him aside and sputtered to encourage him.
I didn’t remember what I had said except that before we passed out, he said he’d repay me if we survived.
After I came to the hospital, I tried to find him but failed.
I had thought he didn’t make it and grieved for a long time.
“Grace, if it weren’t you, I would’ve died in the fire.”
Having experienced a disaster together, I felt closer to him immediately.
I teased, “So, you wanna repay me by marrying me?”
This tall and handsome man didn’t remind me of the sad, pitiable boy at all.
He’d changed so much.
Before he could answer, I smiled, “Just kidding. I had a boyfriend before I came back. He and I…”
Patrick pushed the swing higher.
“I know. If you marry me, he’ll be in the past. It’ll be just you and me in

the future.”
His words wafled in the wind. I wasn’t sure I had heard him clearly.
But when I met his earnest eyes, I knew I didn’t mishear.
I couldn’t help blushing.
