Chapter 8
The police contacted me for a statement about Vivian’s
matters.
The policeman who took my statement was an elderly policeman, patient and experienced.
After I gave him my statement, I told him what had been bothering me.
It was the biggest doubt in my previous and this life.
Though Vivian got caught, I still had no idea how she managed to copy my essay.
I wondered if the cop could shed some light.
He pondered for a moment and then observed my study. Finally, his eyes settled on my glasses.
He asked me if I could take off my glasses for him to take a look.
Without hesitation, I gave him my glasses.
Frowning, he held my glasses and examined them for a while. Suddenly, he realized something.
“Got it!”
I looked at him, puzzled.
He pulled out a miniature toolkit from his pocket, which he

always carried with him, and then took out a very tiny screwdriver from it.

He used the screwdriver to remove the screw at the front of the glasses and then pulled out a bundle of wires as thin as a strand of hair.
Along with the wires was a micro camera.
The camera was extremely tiny. It was hidden within the crevices of the screw, and no one would ever notice it without close inspection.
I froze.
Noticing my expression, the policeman nodded, not surprised.
Such things were rarely seen in daily life; even few police officers had seen them.
It was highly sophisticated and was typically used by national spies.
He had been a cop for decades and busted a few spies, so he had seen such a thing before.
Although it was a micro camera, its functionality was incredibly powerful. It could take candid photos and even pinpoint someone.
Suddenly, I knew everything. No wonder Samson could always track me down no matter where I was.
He must be behind it.
A month ago, he insisted on dragging me to play volleyball. I had no choice but to go with him.

Soon after we started playing, he hit me right in the head with the volleyball.
My glasses were out of shape.
While apologizing, he said he’d buy me a new pair of glasses.
Mad as I was, I forgave him when I saw how exquisitely designed the new frame was.
Now that I thought about it, he must have started planning since then.
I shuddered at the thought.

The one who had been plotting against me was the one I spent every day with.
I immediately handed over the proof to the school leaders.
In my previous life, after everyone was convinced I plagiarized Vivian’s essay, I was expelled from school and barred from retaking the SAT.
I’d never allow that to happen.
I swore to make Vivian pay; I’d like to see how she could get away after everyone knew the truth.
Also, Samson wouldn’t get away with it.
I wrote a report on the matter that he helped Vivian plagiarize and anonymously sent it to the school leaders of MIT.
He had always been proud of being a teaching assistant at MIT.

Well then; I might as well ruin the thing he cared about the
most.
I wanted him to know what it felt like to have his entire world
ruined.
