Chapter 8 Confidence
I sued Melissa, the sock puppet accounts‘ owners, and the other slandering trolls. That got me 450 thousand in return. All of that money was donated to charity, and everyone praised
- me.

After some consideration, I joined Jonathan’s company, much to Harold’s chagrin.” Jonathan, I can’t believe you only charged Zoe twenty percent of your operational costs just so she would join you! And you got your uncle to manage her money? You scheming, plotting bastard! I can’t believe we thought you were an airhead!”
That was what Harold said to Jonathan’s face. Even so, that wasn’t enough to calm him down, so he complained to anyone who would listen, calling Jonathan a scheming fox. Even when he was on a variety show, he complained to the camera.
The director wanted the drama to expand, so he got me and Jonathan as surprise guests. The director asked, “Mr. Rivers, what do you think about Harold’s actions lately? He’s been telling everyone that you are a scheming fox.”
Facing the camera, Jonathan said coolly, “He failed to recruit Zoe, so I can understand him. Just let him say what he wants. I don’t want him to go mad with envy. We should show him some pity, don’t you think?”
Harold was so annoyed that he almost declared they were no longer friends. I ordered two cups of extra–sweet milk tea and promised to get him Jonathan’s sister’s number before
he calmed down.
Though Harold had a playboy persona when he was facing the public, he was a surprisingly loyal person. He had been crushing on Jonathan’s sister for three years, but he still didn’t dare to ask for her number.
Every time they met, he would go red in the face and lose all speech abilities. For some reason, Jonathan always managed to make sure Harold and his sister never stayed in the same room alone. Maybe it was just his luck as an airhead, or he was actually a scheming
fox.
After my break, I took up a project called Raise the Sails. One year later, I was awarded Best Actress, fulfilling my dream. Without my infamy as a ‘mistress” and Jonathan’s company helping me out, I became an ambassador for three luxury brands.
A director famous for sci–fi movies in Hollywood was considering me as a leading actress. My career was rising, while Lawrence and Melissa’s lives were… bad.
In one year, Melissa had gone from a celebrity to a nobody. The best job she got was a supporting role in some web drama.
