After my break, I took up a project called Raise the Sails. One year later, I was awarded Best Actress, fulfilling my dream. Without my infamy as a ‘mistress” and Jonathan’s company helping me out, I became an ambassador for three luxury brands.
A director famous for sci–fi movies in Hollywood was considering me as a leading actress. My career was rising, while Lawrence and Melissa’s lives were… bad.
In one year, Melissa had gone from a celebrity to a nobody. The best job she got was a supporting role in some web drama.

Chapter 8 Confidence
After my departure and the ruination of Melissa’s reputation, Starlight Entertainment plummeted. It was difficult to even keep things up and running, let alone get the company listed.
Lawrence didn’t want to lose out to his ex–wife, and that made him short–sighted. He tried to pimp in order to get more resources, but that didn’t help with the profits. He had a bad reputation in the industry now.
The night I won the award for Best Actress, I ran into Lawrence on my way home. In fact, he specifically came after me. He reeked of alcohol and looked like he had been living in the dumps.
“I’ve been thinking a lot this past year, Zoe. I love you, but I showed it incorrectly. I… I was never loved as a child, so I had no idea how to love someone. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have
done what I did.”
The proud Lawrence was apologizing to me. There was a plea in his eyes, as well as a sliver of hope. “We’ve been together for ten years. Can’t you give me a chance?”
I gave him a tissue paper out of pity. “Go home. It’s cold out here.” Then I went home with my assistant, smiling. I locked him out.
No matter the reason, he should never have hurt me. He only regretted his actions because he was a failure now. If his company had been listed successfully, he would have laughed at me and called me a short–sighted woman. I would then become an insignificant part of his life, just like Melissa.
Fortunately, I was never one to rely on others. I could gain success all by myself.
