Chapter 7
We had a great time playing until sunset.
At the parting time, I saw tears in Tommy’s eyes as he waved goodbye to me.
I asked his grandmother for their contact. I decided to help.
Tommy.
After spending a day with him, I grew fond of him.
When I took a taxi back to the hotel, I saw Daniel.
He still had that proud look, waiting for me to speak first.
I walked past him without looking at him.
But he grabbed my wrist.
He looked down and stammered, “We need to talk.”
I took him to a nearby food stall and sat down. He seemed. uncomfortable, not knowing where to put his hands.
I naturally ordered food and said, “Is the property division done?”
He looked a bit flustered and said, “No.”
Chapter 7
“How much longer will it take?” I asked.

Our conversation was like a business talk. He usually seemed so confident, but now he looked lost.
He hesitated and then said, “I hope you will reconsider our marriage. Ryan needs a complete family.”
I raised an eyebrow and said, “If he needs it, then give it to him. Don’t you have someone ready for that?”
He softened a bit. “If you are worried about Ivy, I can explain. She is a talented person I hired. The birthday party was just a coincidence with the welcome party.
“Ryan is young and naïve. He shouldn’t have called Ivy ‘mom‘, and I have scolded him for it. He even asked about you during dinner.”
This was the longest conversation we had in seven years of marriage.
But I found it annoying.
I looked at him coldly and said, “I just find you all annoying.
“Your coldness and ignoring me is annoying. Ryan’s disloyalty is annoying. Seven years of being a plain housewife is annoying.”
I suddenly tapped my head and said, “By the way, Ryan called me an old nagging lady. He has a diary. You can read it if you
want.
Chapter 7
“If not for that diary, I wouldn’t have decided to divorce you.”
Daniel was a respectable man, and what I said made him uncomfortable.
But instead of leaving, he said, “Emily, I’m sorry for ignoring you all these years.

“I thought you were just angry and wanted a divorce. But I was the one who was angry all these years. At first, I hated you because of the kidney transplant with your brother. But over time, I knew you were kind and always gave in to me.
“I held a grudge and didn’t let myself care. Our start wasn’t good, and I always thought you married me for money.”
I didn’t disagree. “You’re right. I did it for money.”
Daniel smiled bitterly and shook his head.
He said, “If it was for money, you could have used the kidney transplant to live comfortably.
“You love me.”

Seven years in vain, give love back
Chapter 8
I paused and then took another bite of meat.
“So what?” I said.
He suddenly got excited and grabbed my hand. “If you love me,
can we start over?”
I pulled my hand away and wiped it.
I said, “If love worked, I wouldn’t have suffered for seven years trying to melt your heart.
“Daniel, do you need love?
“Your parents love you, so they spent a lot to find me for the transplant. Ivy loves you, but you won’t divorce me for her. Ryan loves you and is always against me because of you.
“You have so much love around you. Look at me–my parents and brother are dead, my husband doesn’t love me, and my son doesn’t love me. I’m the one who needs love.
“Since no one loves me, I’ll love myself. That’s why I’m leaving
you.”
He looked pale and confused.
I wiped my mouth and leaned back in my chair.
