Chapter 2 Doomed
Enzo’s livid face went pale. He almost had the security haul the man out. It turned out he was the son of the Cordova Group’s owner.
It was beyond Enzo’s wildest dreams that he could socialize with the Cordova family. But now, thanks to Sierra, the heir to the Cordova Group was at his banquet.
Thinking of this, Enzo pushed Madelyn away, walked to Jamal, and said fawningly. “Mr. Cordova, I’m flattered that you’ve come to our banquet. Your presence makes our humble home glow.”
What a weathercock. A tinge of aversion appeared in Sierra’s eyes. She didn’t know Enzo was such a hypocrite. He used to be good to her only because she could keep Carissa alive.
Jamal glanced at Enzo coldly. “I came to take my sister home, not to attend the Giada family’s banquet.”
The temperature in the room seemed to drop to zero.
The powerful Cordova family didn’t spare Enzo’s feelings.
Enzo, who was in his forties, had never felt so oppressed. He suddenly couldn’t utter a word.
Overwhelmed by jealousy, Carissa blurted out, “How’s it possible? She’s only my dad’s adopted daughter. She grew up in an orphanage. How can she possibly be a member of the Cordova family? This must be a mistake!”
Jamal had heard her conversation with Sierra earlier. He glared at Carissa and remarked, “You’re the one treating my sister like a free blood bag?”

The look in Jamal’s eyes shot daggers, and his voice seemed to come from hell. A chill crept down Carissa’s spine. She was sweating all over.
Scared, she tried to come up with a retort. “My parents…raised her. Why can’t I use her blood?”
Jamal snorted. “You can. But the Cordova family’s blood has a price. You’ll pay with the Giada Group!”
A sensation occurred.
The Cordova family meant what they said.
Since Jamal had said so, the Giada Group would no longer exist the next
day.
“No! Please no!” Enzo’s legs went soft. Frightened, he begged for mercy.
Jamal only gestured to Sierra with his eyes. “Sierra, let’s go.”
For the first time in her life, Sierra knew how it felt to be protected by family. Her heart was filled with warmth. She nodded and turned to leave.
“No! Sierra! You can’t be so ruthless to us!” Enzo shouted.
Jamal blocked his way and glanced at him condescendingly. “You didn’t think they were ruthless when they ganged up against Sierra.”
Enzo was reduced to silence. He hated himself for not defending Sierra earlier.
If he had known Sierra was a Cordova, he’d have spoiled her.
Jamal turned around coldly and declared, “Without Sierra, the Giada family will no longer exist. The ones wanting to end up like the Giada family can stay.”

With that, he strode away.
Afraid, the guests hastened to leave.
Enzo slumped to the floor. He knew he was doomed.
Carissa gaped with astonishment. “Dad, do something! If the Giada family collapses, what about my medical expenses?”
Although the surgery went well, she still needed to take medication, and it cost a fortune.
Enzo shoved her and wished to strangle her right there and then. “Go away! Sierra wouldn’t have turned against us if it wasn’t because of you. Our family wouldn’t have ended up like this!”
Sitting on the floor, Carissa looked at her dad in disbelief. She had never imagined he’d treat her like this.
“No, no way. The Giada family won’t collapse.” The Cordova family wasn’t almighty. Her family wouldn’t fall.
Enzo was devastated and passed out.
“Honey!” Madelyn hurried to catch him and took him to the hospital.
Carissa was left alone in the house. She still couldn’t believe Sierra was a Cordova.
Two hours later.
At the Cordova’s manor.
Sierra had never thought she could come to this forbidden area one day. This place was off–limits to commoners. Unexpectedly, her family lived

here.
Jamal opened the car door and extended his hand to Sierra. “Sierra, we’re home. Everybody is waiting.”
“OK.” Sierra nodded calmly.
Jamal stared at Sierra. All this had happened fast. He had assumed Sierra would be sad to leave the Giada family. To his surprise, she had shown no sign of uneasiness and was unusually composed.

ve a royal feeling. Sierra felt it was too dramatic.
Her identity was complicated. She didn’t like being surrounded or being the center of attention. She dreamed of living in a plain house and being herself. It turned out her biological parents were more powerful than the Giada family. It meant she needed to be more careful in the future.
She walked into the big house. There was a passage in an ancient style. Modern famous art works were hung on both sides. At a glance, Sierra knew they were worth millions of dollars at least.
Her family was tasteful.
That then, she spotted a familiar painting and stopped.
smiled, “This is ‘Daughter of the Ocean‘ by the genius painter
ey S. Woodward. Grandpa paid a fortune for it.”
Grandpa has good taste…” Sierra couldn’t help smiling.
It was just a doodle by her. Unexpectedly, someone liked it and spent

millions on it. She had figured the buyer must be a rich moron. It turned
out to be her own family.
