By the time I reached the ballroom entrance, the doors were already locked.
The music inside was so loud that they couldn’t hear us knocking.
The principal stood nearby, frantically trying to call the homeroom teacher several times, but the music drowned out everything. No one paid any attention to us.
“If the door won’t open, break it down!”
“Yes, sir, I’ll call security right ow” The principal’s hands shook

We peered through the windows.
Antonio was on stage with a microphone, addressing the crowd.
“Today is my daughter Nina’s 18th birthday party. Thank you all for taking the time to attend, and for your understanding and care for her.”
Emily’s homeroom teacher chimed in from below with praise.
“So Nina takes after her mother! No wonder she’s so beautiful. I thought you were her sister earlier when Nina didn’t call your ‘Mom‘!

aging like fine wine!”
Our company makes lighting fixtures and isn’t named after a surname like other companies. I guess that’s why everyone at school except the principal, who had met me, believed Antonio was the CEO.
Linda looked smug. “You’re too kind, Ms. Collier. I think you’re wasted as a homeroom teacher. I have a word with the principal later about promoting you to department head.”
The teacher beamed with joy, while the principal next to me was sweating profusely.
“What nonsense is Ms. Collier spouting!”
Linda invited everyone to be seated, but Nina called out to Emily, who was sitting in the corner.
“Emily, you bastard child of a homewrecker, who said you could sit? Get up here and hold my dress!”
“Okay.” Emily meekly walked up.
The students below started gossiping.
“I wondered why Nina hated her so much. So she’s the child of a mistress!”
“I’ve known for a while. It’s normal for wealthy families like. Nina’s to have multiple children. Look, her mom knows about Emily, and seems fine with it.”
“What a tramp. It’s disgusting to even be in the same class as her.”

As they spoke, someone stuck out their leg to trip Emily. Emily didn’t dare resist, continuing forward even though her knee was scraped and bleeding.
My blood pressure skyrocketed. Are they here yet?!”
“Yes, yes, security is downstairs with the equipment!”
If it weren’t for the steel bars on the windows, I would have burst in immediately.
As soon as Emily reached Nina’s side, Nina grabbed her hair and shoved her face into the cake the strawberry one I had
ordered, Emily’s favorite.
Not satisfied, Nina pushed Emily down along with the cake, causing the whole room to erupt in laughter.

“Emily, your uniform is all dirty now. How about I show some mercy and lend you an outfit?”
Linda objected, “Why bother with her? Is she worthy of wearing your clothes? Those are all hand–picked by me and very expensive!”
“Mom, stay out of it.”
Emily held back tears and nodded.
As she was about to get up to change, Nina blocked her way.
“I said I’d lend you clothes, but did I say you could change this afternoon? You’re covered in cream. If you dirty other places, the cleaning staff will have extra work. Change right here!”
The male students started to cheer.

“Let’s see if the homewrecker’s daughter has a good figure!”
Emily looked hopefully at Antonio wishing her father would say something on her behalf.
But all Antonio said was, “What are you waiting for? Do you really think you’re my daughter? You piece of trash, if you don’t behave, I’ll send you to work.”
Holding back tears, Emily raised her hands to unbutton her uniform.
I shouted desperately towards the inside. Just then, security arrived with a chainsaw.
I grabbed the chainsaw from the guard, opened the door, and charged in.
“Antonio! You dog! You’ve been fooling around with the maid Linda behind my back, and now you dare let your illegitimate daughter bully mine!”
