Chapter 1
In the city hall, Antonio Kaufman was strolling through his phone next to
- me.
I stared at the application form. A complex feeling washed over me.
In my previous life, I was so excited to marry Antonio that I couldn’t. sleep.
Meanwhile, Antonio and Stella Parrish were up all night, having sex in our new house. The sheet was soaked by blood and sweat.
By morning, his shirt reeked of blood.
But he didn’t bother to change it, even though it was the most important. day of my life.
“I have work. Go home by yourself.”
I nodded calmly. “Sure. I’ll be just fine.”
Before Antonio left, he added, “Since we’re married, there’s something you need to know.
“Stella isn’t just your sister. She’s mine too. Stop being jealous of her.”
I was aware that Antonio took all the things I did to please him for granted.
And no matter how many bad things Stella did, she’d always be a sweet, lovely girl in Antonio’s eyes.
Looking into the mirror, I was swarmed by memories.
At our engagement party, Antonio and Stella made out in the bathroom.
My parents offered him a job in Seavista. He insisted on taking Stella. just so she could “see the world.”
Mom gave me a gold bracelet for my wedding. But Stella was the one who wore it.
Even when I was sent to the ICU, Antonio stayed in Seavista for Stella.
And I had heard my daughter ask me indifferently, “Mom, why can’t you just let Dad go?”
Just because Stella asked to see him, Antonio abandoned me without hesitation, not caring about how I felt at all..
Hearing the dialing tone in the phone, I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms.
When I snapped out of it, my blouse was soaked by sweat.
In this life, I vowed not to make the same mistake.
I picked up the pen, steady and sure.
In the spouse’s name section, I wrote Stella’s name instead of mine.
If they loved each other so damn much, they could have each other-
forever.
I handed the form to the clerk.
With a marriage license that had Stella’s name, I walked out of the city hall, breathing a sigh of relief.
In my previous life, besides me and Stella, Mom couldn’t have more children due to her poor health.
So, my parents went to an orphanage and adopted Antonio..
Antonio was the perfect son, so Dad wanted to train Antonio to be a governor official like him.
Dad even thought about marrying Stella to Antonio.
But Stella refused, “Grace loves Antonio. I can’t hurt Grace.”
So, I was ordered to marry Antonio.
Later, I finally understood Stella’s choice. She didn’t wanna marry an adopted son.
Stella wanted to marry up and enter the upper class. Antonio could only be her stepping stone.
When I came home, the door of my bedroom was open.
Then I heard Stella’s soft voice. “Would Grace be upset if she finds out you come to see me?”
“She’s always so petty. Don’t mind her.”
Stella buried her head in Antonio’s chest and pouted.
“Would you still love me after you marry Grace?”
Antonio ruffled Stella’s head and answered fondly, “Of course. You’re my precious.”
“Make a vow.”
“I vow that I’ll love Stella as always even after I get married
Tears ran down my face as I watched the two kiss deeply
Even though this was the second time I lived through it, the hurt waSTI’T any less painful
