Chapter 8
The next moment, I forcefully pulled my hand away from his grip.
“If you remember all that, then there’s no need to ask me. Your heart belongs to Juliette. In the past, I unknowingly came between you two, but this time, I’ll let you be. And we won’t have a daughter together. Lastly, I wish you and Juliette a lifetime of happiness.“}
With those words, I turned and walked away without a trace of regret.}
In the past, I might have suppressed my feelings, pretending to be happy while clinging on. But now, I felt a serene sense of release. Letting go was surprisingly easy.
I never anticipated that my wedding to Benjamin would coincide with Elijah’s.
Juliette was pregnant, and Elijah had to adhere to their plans and marry her.”
He appeared at the ceremony with the scent of whiskey lingering, watching Juliette approach him in her wedding gown from afar.}
For some reason, he suddenly envisioned Anastasia in a wedding dress, marrying him in a previous life.}
“Eli.”
He heard Anastasia’s voice and looked up in surprise.
But as he focused, the bride before him was Juliette, smiling at him.
“What’s wrong? Didn’t sleep well last night? This is the wedding we’ve always dreamed of. You need to pull yourself together. I can’t let anything mar our perfect day.“>
Elijah listened, feeling a wave of indifference wash over him.
Suddenly, he understood why his life had come to this point. It was all due to his obsession with what he couldn’t have in the past.”
Out of guilt, he felt he owed Juliette.}
But he forgot that after that fire in a previous life, he had already let Anastasia into his heart.”
“No, I need to find Anastasia. I need to tell her…“}
As the officiant continued with the ceremony, Elijah abruptly left Juliette, turning and running out.
He even knocked over a bouquet as he left.
Juliette’s face turned pale. “Elijah! Do you know what you’re doing? You can’t leave me!“}
But there was no response.}
With the groom gone, the guests buzzed with whispers and speculation.
“They say the groom was forced into this. Could it be true?“}
“Look at the bride’s face. They say they got married because of the baby. Apparently, she tricked Elijah into it. Who knew he would actually flee the wedding!“}
Juliette was furious, unable to accept being left at the altar. She ran after him, holding up her dress.
But she didn’t expect to be hit by a drunk driver, thrown into the air on impact.
Lying in a pool of blood, Juliette watched Elijah close the car door and drive away without looking back.
“Anastasia, don’t marry him!“>
Elijah burst into the room just as Benjamin and I were exchanging rings.
His voice drew all eyes to him.”
Elijah looked pale as he watched me, dressed in white, marrying someone else. Tears finally fell as he knelt before me, pleading for me to reconsider.
“Anastasia, I was wrong before. I was blind to my own heart. It’s always been you.“}
“Give me another chance, please. I still want to see you marry me, to watch our daughter be born.“}
“This time, I won’t leave. I’ll stay by your side, with you and our daughter.”
Before I could respond, Dominic stood up.”
“This guy’s lost it! Security, what are you waiting for? Get him out of here!“}
The guards swiftly removed Elijah, and the ceremony continued. I shot a grateful glance at my brother as our wedding proceeded without a hitch.
Though some guests recognized Elijah, his appearance at the wedding displeased the Calloway family. To protect my reputation, my

in–laws took swift action, leading to the Kensington’s downfall.
Three months later, I saw Elijah for the last time.
He had lost everything, looking like a beggar with nowhere to call home.}
Without the trappings of wealth and power, Elijah resembled a down–and–out wanderer, far from the charming man he once was.
“Sweetheart, hop in. I got you and the baby your favorite, a durian mille crepe.”
Benjamin opened the car door, helping me, with my growing belly, inside.”
I turned back, giving him a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, darling.“}
When I glanced back again, Elijah was gone.,
Maybe this was truly the end of our story, and perhaps that was for the best.”
