Chapter 35
Those ominous warnings echoed in her mind.
Claire’s chest heaved with intensity, her bangs quivering slightly with her mounting anger. She fixed Ethan with a piercing stare, her eyes practically shooting daggers. “Was it you?”
Ethan straightened a little, his hands casually folded on his lap, his expression unruffled, exuding an air of aristocratic indifference. “What are you talking about? I honestly have no idea.”
“Mandy got expelled from school. Did you have a hand in that?” Claire’s voice was like ice, strained through clenched teeth. “Ethan, I’m warning you, leave May and Mandy alone, or else…”
He narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flickering in their depths. Just a servant’s daughter, yet Claire was reacting so fiercely. She cared so much for outsiders but was always cold and distant towards her own brother, How was that fair?!
Feeling increasingly agitated, he ground his teeth and asked, “Or else what?”
Claire’s voice was steely. “Ill take you down with me.”

A pang shot through Ethan’s chest. “I’m your elder brother, is this how you treat me?”
Claire remained silent, her cold, unyielding gaze speaking volumes.
They locked eyes, the tension between them thick in the air.
Suddenly, the shrill ring of a phone shattered the silence. Ethan glanced at the screen–May was calling.

He shot Claire a knowing smile, taking the call under her watchful
May’s desperate voice filled the room, “Master Ethan, please, I’m begging you. I wouldn’t call if I had any other choice. Could you use the Linwood family’s connections to stop the school from expelling Mandy? She’s my only daughter, and I’ve worked so hard to raise her. She’s so close to graduating college, and if she’s expelled now, her future is ruined…”
As Ethan listened to May’s pleas, his gaze never left Claire, scrutinizing her every reaction.
Claire’s hands clenched into fists, her nails digging painfully into her palms.

had no idea that Ethan was behind it all, yet she naively
Knowing the truth but powerless to assist May herself, Claire could only pin her hopes on Ethan once more.!!
She spoke with restraint, “Help her.”
Ethan raised an eyebrow, covering the phone’s mouthpiece with his hand. “I’ll help her if you apologize to Irene. Get Brian’s forgiveness, and May’s daughter will be fine.”
Claire’s eyes glistened with anger, tears threatening to spill, yet she had no choice but to concede. “Fine, I agree.”
Seeing her capitulate, Ethan wasted no time assuring May, “Don’t worry, your daughter will be okay.”
Ending the call, Ethan stood up. “Ill drive you.”
“No need. I’ll call a cab myself.” Claire refused flatly
“I can drive faster,” Ethan pressed, but Claire’s next w
words hit him like a slap, leaving no room for dignity.
She said coolly, “Being around you makes me sick.”
With that, she turned and walked away.
Ethan’s face flushed a deep red, his temples throbbing with suppressed anger. Try as he might, he couldn’t quell the fury boiling inside. In a fit of rage, he kicked the coffee table in front of him X
The china crashed to the floor, shattering into pieces, the spilled tea soaking the carpet.N
“Claire, don’t push it!” he shouted at her retreating figure.
He just couldn’t understand why, even when he tried to appear vulnerable before her, she couldn’t be the obedient sister she once was. Why did she always have to oppose him?2
