Chapter 105
“Mrs. Foster, Grace interjected hurriedly. “I just checked the weather forecast for Cresthaven, and they’re predicting heavy rain for the next few days. Traveling now would be risky with the slippery roads, and getting wet would be quite undignified, especially for such an important occasion as meeting your future granddaughter–in–law“!
Mrs. Foster paused, considering Grace’s words. “You’re right. I’ll wait until the rain stops. I wouldn’t want my future granddaughter–in–law to think I don’t take her seriously
After all, it’s not easy to find a granddaughter–in–law, and they certainly can’t afford to scare her away.
“Oh, Grace! Make sure we have enough herbal remedies stocked up. No deer antler or ginseng? We need to get more. The girl is too thin, and I bet she needs a boost. These will be perfect for nourishing her.”
“As soon as the rain ceases, we’ll head over to see her. Her health will rely on your masterful herbal cooking.”
“If we get her health in order this year, maybe next year, she’ll bless the Foster family with a chubby grandchild “Oh, what a future to look forward to!” Mrs. Foster clapped her hands in delight, her smile wide and warm.
Grace shared in her excitement.E
The eldest son had everything going for him, except for his rather cold demeanor.
She couldn’t understand how rumors painted him as a womanizer or suggested he had issues in that department, which prompted Mrs. Foster to schedule appointments with over ten specialists. Fortunately. Liam had put a stop to it.
Liam had assured her, “In those romance novels, the CEO is always the handsome, powerful lead. Rest assured, Mrs. Foster, the boss is perfectly healthy.”
Mrs. Foster wasn’t convinced. “What’s all this talk of being a monk? If he keeps this up, he’ll end up celibate for life.”
“By thirty, most men have kids running all over the place. If he’s not interested in women, surely something’s wrong? Liam, tell me honestly, does Sean like men?“Ü
Liam shuddered at the thought and quickly excused himself from the conversation.
Grace glanced at Mrs. Foster sitting on the sofa, shaking her head. Having an elder in the family is a treasure, and now that they knew the eldest son had a girlfriend, the old lady could finally have some peace of mind.”
Meanwhile, in Cresthaven, at the Linwood household…
After a restless night, Adah finally remembered Claire. The memory of Claire collapsing, her head bleeding profusely, sent a wave of guilt and pain through her.
“Why is Claire so stubbom? Vanessa has such a pleasant personality, but Claire just can’t seem to get along with her.”
“She must still resent Vanessa for taking her place as the Linwood familly’s heiress. This child… I just don’t know what to say.”
Adah sighed deeply as she descended the stairs.
The blood–stained carpet from the night before had been removed by the staff, leaking the living room pristine as if nothing had happened.!!
Adah went straight to the storage room, hesitated for a moment, and gently knocked on the door!!.
She waited for a response, but none came.!!
“Claire, are you awake?” Still no answer.
She pushed the door slightly, noticing it wasn’t locked. The door creaked open, revealing an empty room.
Adah’s heart sank. She rushed upstairs, her dress swishing as she hurried to the room specially prepared for Claire, the one designed like a princess’s dream.
Everything was in perfect order. The bed was untouched.
Panic surged through Adah, Regret filled her heart–regret for her actions the previous day, regret for not controlling her emotions, regret for not tending to Claire’s injuries sooner,
Images of Claire’s fainting form, her head covered in blood, her face so pale, flashed through Adah’s mind, each one piercing her heart with guilt
