Chapter

The next day, I went to a corporate presentation to introduce our products

I gathered my materials, triplechecked everything, and headed to the destination

Just as I parked in the underground garage and opened my car door, several dark figures suddenly flashed past me

A sharp pain struck the back of my head, and the next second, everything

went black as I lost consciousness

I don’t know how much time passed before I slowly opened my eyes

I found myself facing the cold, damp cement floor of the parking garage. I struggled to get up, waves of pain radiating from the back of my head

Looking around, I saw no one

Everything I had been carryingmy documents, phone, and car keyshad disappeared along with my attackers

In that moment, I suddenly remembered Cedric’s earlier hints and Bethany’s suspicious behavior, and my heart sank

Only my watch remained on my wrist

Glancing down at the time, I realized I had just five minutes before the presentation was scheduled to begin

There was no time to return to the office for new materials, so I pushed through the pain and walked into the venue alone

Chapter

Standing on stage, I fought through the throbbing pain and dizziness, delivering the presentation word for word using knowledge I had rehearsed countless times and sales techniques I knew by heart

The audience erupted in enthusiastic applause

My vision kept darkening, making it impossible to see the faces below clearly, but I could still feel one familiar, intense gaze

Cedric’s eyes had changed. In that instant, something pierced my heart, and I quickly looked away

The client company was extremely satisfied. After discussing future

cooperation, I borrowed their phone. I initially wanted to call Herbert to pick me up, but decided I needed to report to the police first

Just as I walked out of the building, I saw a familiar tall figure across the

way

I had no idea your professional skills were so impressive. You truly amazed me, Ms. Yates.”

Cedric walked toward me step by step, but I ignored him, forcing my weakened body to move in the opposite direction

You always manage to surprise me”

He suddenly stopped, his gaze sharpening as he grabbed my arm

What’s wrong? Why are you so pale”

My vision went black, and I collapsed

When I woke up, the graywhite ceiling of a hospital room stared back at me

The diagnosis was a mild concussion; my head wound had been treated and bandaged

Cedric hung his head and said, I’m sorry. I never thought Bethany would go this far. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure she’s punished. Don’t take what she said to heartwe’re not back together. We never actually dated. We only had a business relationship, and she was the one who contacted me this time”

Why are you telling me all this? His talking was making my headache. worse. Mr. Palmer, are you confused about something? You have not relationship with her, and you have no relationship with me either. There’s no need to flatter yourself with explanations.”

He clenched his fists tightly, and for the first time, those typically calm, composed eyes revealed confusion and helplessness

Even in my previous life, I had never seen him look like this

I smiled contemptuously and said, Cedric, has anyone ever told you how disgusting your fake kindness is? When you said you liked me, I nearly threw

up.”

After Cedric left, a nurse who recognized him came to chat with me

I responded with brief answers, completed my discharge paperwork, and left

I have to admit, one of Cedric’s talents that contributed to his success was his

persistence

Bouquets appeared on my desk time after time. Sally teased, Mr. Herbert

Chapter 91

Palmer is so romantic. Even though he sees you every day, he still insists on sending flowers.”

I shook my head and tossed the large bunch of roses into the trash

They’re not from Herbert. Just from a clingy man who’s not worth my

attention.”

Sally suddenly gasped, What’s this?”

I looked at the red velvet box in her hand

A diamond necklace lay quietly inside, radiating dazzling light

Sally looked at me hesitantly. Ms. Yates, should we throw this away too?”

After thinking for a moment, I said, List it on a secondhand website. The money can be used for your bonuses.”

Sally cheered as she ran out

While Cedric was trying to win me over, he hadn’t completely cut ties with Bethany

More accurately, Bethany had latched onto him

She held leverage over Cedric, and I found their mutual exploitation and undermining of each other quite entertaining

Bethany no longer pretended to be innocent, fully revealing her greedy and selfish nature

This was possibly her last chance. Since she had agreed to help Cedric steal

my documents, they clearly had made a deal. Though she couldn’t make Cedric truly love her, as long as she could marry him, she would consider

herself the winner

But how could Cedric be controlled by her? His attitude toward Bethany grew increasingly cold until he finally stopped answering her calls and messages

giving her the complete silent treatment

Bethany wasn’t one to back down easily. After being thrown out of the Palmer Group building, she completely turned on him, going directly to reporters to accuse him of using and abandoning her. But even this failed to get her a meeting with Cedric

Because he was busy forcing Herbert out of Palmer Manor for good

When we were moving out of Palmer Manor, Bethany appeared again

Carrying the designer bag Cedric had given her, she watched me leave

Palmer Manor with satisfaction

You ended up exactly where I said you would. Jeanette, I told could never have a better life than mine.”

Is that so?I smiled indifferently

She still hadn’t grasped reality

you that you

I wasn’t like her in my previous life, thrown out with no job or savings, forced to live on the streets

I had my own career, my own partners and friends

I hadn’t wasted all my energy on a man

After leaving Palmer Manor, I could still live well

After our first batch of products sold out, I paid off my loans and even moved to a new office building

Just as we were raising our glasses in celebration, Herbert’s call suddenly came through

Jeanette, check the news quickly. Something’s happened to the company!”
