I was eating in the cafeteria when the student council president suddenly posted a photo in the freshman group chat and tagged me.]
“The CEO’s generosity knows no bounds! Donating a swimming pool to the university. We’re all benefiting from having Ms. Reed’s daughter among us.“[]
When I opened the photo, I saw it was of the construction site for the new campus swimming pool.[]
During freshman orientation, I had complained to my dad that the university didn’t have a decent pool.]
I was touched that he’d actually listened.[]
With a smile, I replied to the group:[]
“My dad prefers to keep a low profile. No need to make a big deal about it.“[]
The freshman chat instantly exploded:[]
“I was wondering why the school suddenly had money for a swimming pool. Turns out Reed Industries, is funding it. We’re all getting perks!“]
“Right? I always thought Olivia had that rich girl vibe. She’s the CEO’s daughter but keeps it so low–key.“]
The student council president replied:]
“Olivia, you’re too modest.“[]
“By the way, I heard you were looking for tickets to the Drake contert in the VIP section. I happen to have an extra one. I’ll bring it to you tomorrow.“[]
I quickly accepted:]
“Thank you so much! I’ll transfer the money to you later.“[]
My best friend had been dying to see Drake in concert but couldn’t get tickets
I’d offered to find a scalper, but she was worried about scams and didn’t want me wasting money.
With the concert date approaching, I was thrilled to finally help her out
But just as I sent my message, someone with a vaguely familiar profile picture jumped in
“What are you babbling about? I’M the CEO’s daughterr
“And you. Mr. Student Council President–if your eyesight is that bad, see a doctor stop midentifying my father’s daughter unless you want to get expelled.”
“This swimming pool was funded by my dad with several mullion dollars to maar ME happy Some people have no strme, claiming anything they want

I was bewildered. I clicked on her profile and realized it was Ashley, who had just moved into our dorm afternoon.[]
Since she’d only moved in recently, I hadn’t interacted with her much.[]
Thinking there must be some misunderstanding, I patiently asked:[]
“You’re Ashley, right? Are you confused? Jackson Reed really is my dad.“[]
Ashley heard this and immediately became furious:]
“You just won’t back down, will you? Let me make things crystal clear!“[]
With that, she posted her family registry and family photos in the group chat, taunting:
“Look carefully. Jackson Reed has only ONE daughter. Did you seriously think lying in a group chat would magically make you the CEO’s daughter? Pathetic!“]
“You claim Jackson Reed is your dad–what, are you his secret love child? You don’t even have status, and you dare challenge me? Know your place!“]
I opened the family registry photo and was shocked to see the head of household listed as Jackson Reed.]
And there was Ashley, listed as his daughter.[]
In the family photo, my dad Jackson Reed had his arm around an unfamiliar middle–aged woman wearing heavy makeup, looking blissfully happy.
His other arm was around Ashley.[]
I was stunned.
Had my dad really been keeping a mistress and secret daughter behind my mom’s back?]
While I was still processing this, the same people who had been flattering me moments ago instantly changed their tune.[]
