His earlier confidence evaporated. He stiffly turned around and tried to drag Ashley and her mother away.]]
Ashley was completely confused:
“Dad, why are you running? Weren’t you going to help Mom and me get revenge?“|||
Ashley’s “dad” was frantic. When Ashley refused to leave, he slapped her across the face.]
Holding her cheek, Ashley stared at him in disbelief:[]
“Dad, you hit me? You’ve never hit me since I was born. Is this your idea of helping me?“]
Ashley’s mother saw her daughter get slapped and grew angry too, grabbing her “husband” and demanding an explanation.[]
The man was panicking like an ant on a hot pan, unable to explain.]
Just then, Jackson walked over with me.
He looked sternly at Ashley’s “dad” and said coldly:
“Mr. Reed? Or should I call you Driver Daniel Carter?“]

Hearing this name, Daniel’s body trembled, and he fell to his knees:]]
“Mr. Reed, I’m so sorry…“]]
Ashley was shocked:
“Dad, what are you doing? Why are you kneeling to this impostor?”

But Daniel ignored her, desperately clutching Jackson’s legs, begging forgiveness.]]
Meanwhile, Jackson maintained his cold expression, saying nothing. I’d never seen him look so stern before.
By now, Daniel’s forehead was covered in cold sweat.[]
The surrounding students were as shocked as Ashley:]
“Wait, so Olivia’s dad is the real Reed Industries CEO? We’ve been helping Ashley bully Olivia–will she take revenge on us?“{}
“Ashley, say something! Didn’t you claim Olivia’s dad was the impostor? Why is your dad kneeling to him?”
“We helped you wreck Mr. Reed’s car. Will he make us pay for damages? You said you’d take responsibility.”
Ashley seemed just as confused, continuously looking to her father for answers.)
Jackson glared at Daniel:[]

“You can explain yourself, or we can continue this at the police station. Your choice.“[]
Daniel wiped the cold sweat from his brow and immediately said:[]
“Mr. Reed, I’ll explain everything. Please don’t take me to the police.“[]
As it turned out, Daniel Carter was a distant relative from Jackson’s hometown.[]
He had come to Chicago right after turning eighteen and became Jackson’s driver.[]
He had worked for Jackson for over fifteen years, often driving luxury cars to deliver documents on Jackson’s behalf.[]
But at some point–perhaps inspired by Jackson’s wealthy lifestyle–he had developed the idea of impersonating my dad.]
Because his build and facial features somewhat resembled Jackson’s, he found an underground artist who made him a human skin mask.]
Then he went to the county offices and legally changed his name to Jackson Reed, even using his disguised appearance for his new ID photo.
So when he posed as a wealthy bachelor to pursue Ashley’s mother, no one suspected anything.
That’s how Daniel Carter, wearing Jackson Reed’s face, married Ashley’s mother and had Ashley.]]
Using his position, he embezzled company funds to support this mother and daughter.
He even had the audacity to claim that the townhouse near campus was a gift he bought for Ashley.[]
He had carefully maintained this charade for years, never expecting to be caught.]
I was curious how Jackson had recognized Daniel.[]
Jackson sighed and explained that after working with Daniel for so many years, how could he not recognize him?]
During Daniel’s time with the Reed family, Jackson had never treated him as just a driver. He always looked after him, even paying him twice the salary of regular employees–all because Daniel was a relative from his hometown.[]
