Chapter 5
After doing all this, Lucy still wasn’t satisfied. [
She emptied the contents of my bag onto the floor. Among the scattered items were a wedding photo of my parents and an exquisite diamond ring.
My mother passed away during childbirth, leaving behind only this photo, which I kept with me at all times. As I grew older, I began to resemble my mother in the picture more and more. [
As for the diamond ring, it was part of my parents‘ wedding bands. When I got older, my father had solemnly placed the ring in my hand, explaining that it was called Desert Star, a one–of–a–kind piece now worth millions. But its value wasn’t just monetary—it carried the memories and love of my parents, making it priceless to me.
I had planned to gift this ring to my soon–to–be stepmother as a gesture of goodwill, hoping we could live harmoniously as a family of three. But never did I imagine things would take this turn.
“Hmph!” Lucy sneered, holding up the ring.
“Looks like Jack’s completely smitten with you. Not only did he give you a villa in Rivera Sea, but he even gifted you this diamond ring.”
Something inside me snapped. A surge of ring back.

“Give it back!” I begged, tears streaming down my face.
But I was too late.
Lucy, right before my eyes, threw the ring forcefully down a drain. [
“No!” I screamed, collapsing to the ground in despair as I watched the ring disappear. My body trembled uncontrollably as my mind went blank, overwhelmed by the loss.
Lucy wasn’t finished. She tore up my parents‘ wedding photo and spat venomously, “Slut! You even secretly took wedding photos with Jack? Let me tell you, dreaming about taking my daughter’s place and marrying into the Torres family is laughable!”
My heart shattered completely. []
Like mother, like daughter–I finally understood where Evelynn inherited her vile personality. []
When I first learned my father had a girlfriend, I was genuinely happy for him and had even urged him to take good care of her. Now, I deeply regretted it. If I’d known Evelynn and her family were like this, I would never have allowed Jack to get involved with my father. []
“Enough! Take her to the hospital before something bad happens,” someone muttered, unable to bear the sight anymore. []
A bystander stepped forward cautiously, trying to intervene. But Lucy’s reaction was swift and venomous. []
“What business is it of yours? Who gave you the right to meddle while I’m teaching this tramp a lesson?” she snapped. []

“Or are you feeling sorry for her now, huh?” |
Her voice dripped with mockery. “Today, I’ll make her watch as my daughter gets engaged to Jack.” []
The person, visibly uncomfortable, stepped back, unwilling to provoke the soon–to–be in–laws of the Torres Group.
Lucy smirked triumphantly at their retreat and turned to the crowd. “Take a good look, everyone. This is what happens when you try to steal my daughter’s husband!” []
Meanwhile, outside the hotel lobby, Evelynn, growing impatient, finally returned inside.
With a frown, she muttered, “Strange. Didn’t Jack say his daughter would be here right after class? It’s almost six, and there’s no sign of her.”
Her frustration quickly turned into rage, which she directed entirely at me. Evelynn stormed over and began kicking me mercilessly in the stomach.
“This is all your fault, you tramp!” she screamed.
“Jack’s daughter must’ve found out about you seducing him and was too humiliated to show up!” [
“So, you think you can steal my man?” Evelynn barked, her voice seething with fury. []
“Drag her to the bathroom! I’ll tie her up and shove her head in the toilet. Let’s clean her filthy body with toilet water!” |
”
As Lucy and Evelynn’s friends grabbed me and began dragging me toward the hotel bathroom, my heart sank into the depths of despair.
I didn’t even have the chance to call for help or contact my father.[]
