Chapter 16

Luna Aquamarine’s POV

My muscles were screaming in agony as I shifted positions on the bed. Every movement sent a jolt of pain through my body.

My eyes drifted to the blood–stained sheet.

I always thought I’d lose myself to someone I was in love with. Someone who loved me.

And not a monster who I found myself bound to.

There was a sudden knock on the door, “Luna Aquamarine?” A gentle voice called out.

I turned to see a young woman with a kind smile enter the room. She was followed by several other maids carrying trays of food and drinks which were placed on the table.

Some carried bundles of clothes and other things.

“I’m Juliet, your maid. We’ve been instructed to help you with your needs.” Her eyes roamed over my body.

But I knew what she was more interested in. My flaws.

But she didn’t seem all that different from me.

Her skin was extremely pale, but her hair was as dark as coal, and her eyes were as blue as the clear sky, but they were also as sharp as a fox.

Like a dark, ethereal beauty.

Juliet gently helped me out of bed and supported me as we walked to the bathroom while the other maids went about their duties.

In the bathroom, she helped me inside a wide tub filled with warm water and fragrant flowers. As I relaxed into the warm water, my muscles began to unbuckle.

Suddenly, a rustic smell hit me like a slap across the face, making my nose wrinkle. I sniffed again, confused. I clearly remembered the scent of flowers when I came in, so why was I smelling something…. Bitter?

My ears perked up at a low, rumbling sound. My eyes were heavy, but I forced them open.

Juliet stood beside me, her eyes closed and her lips moving slowly In her hand, she held a jar filled with clear liquid.

As I watched, she tilted the jar, and steamy clear liquid flowed into the bath water. The moment it touched the clear tub water, it began spreading a deep red hue through the bath.

1 felt a shiver run down my spine as I tried to sit up, but she gently pulled me down.

“Relax, Luna,” Juliet said with a soothing smile. “It’s just a healing potion.”

Why in the Goddess’s name were potions allowed here? And the chants-

Then something clicked

Attack with the Vines, Purple cold flower, potions and chants??

I gasped and stared at her wide eyes

Witches!

I hadn’t even seen one before, and the idea of one living among the pack seemed impossible

How is she not burnt on a stake or stoned to death?

My mind swirled with these questions as the potion began to take hold, and my hunts grew heavy, weighed down by a wave of calm that spread through my bones

When she finished washing me, she helped me back to the main room and sat me on the bed. The fresh sheets were a welcome change

I took my time to properly check out the room.

It was twice the size of Alpha Felix’s room. But it felt rather….. bland. Empty? Lacking in more ways than 1.

I let out a slow breath, feeling my tension ease. But my curiosity remained, and I couldn’t help but wonder what other things this pack has that aren’t quite like mine.

It prickled at first, but then the pain quickly subsided.

Juliet held up a red–sleeved gown, her eyes assessing it. “Primus Alexander would love it. It showcases the mark while discreetly hiding the…other signs.”

I felt a flutter in my chest as she helped me into the dress. I knew she was talking about the other red spots Alexander had inked into my skin.

As she brushed my hair and hummed a tone, a sense of calm washed over me. It felt weird being taken care of this way. It kind of reminded me of how Kath…

My heart skipped a beat. I grasped Juliet’s arm, “Juliet, I came here with a friend from my pack. Her name is Katherine. Where is she…?”

“Oh, then I guess she would be around somewhere,” she replied curtly.

My heart pounded in my chest at her words.

Guess?

What did Alexander and Levi do to her? He certainly wouldn’t see her as a prisoner.

Or would he?

I searched Juliet’s face for clues but her eyes were fixed on something else.

“Now time to eat!” Juliet’s cheerful tone brought me back to reality.

“I’m not hungry,” I lied.

“You need to eat Luna,” she said firmly while shaking her head. “Primus Alexander ordered us to prepare food fit for you. Including potions for your… Fertility.”

I didn’t budge. How on earth could I eat when I haven’t even seen Kath yet?

She sighed, “If he finds out you didn’t eat, he’ll be very angry. And trust me, Luna, you don’t want that. It won’t end well for you and your friend”

Juliet’s warning tone made my heart sink.

It’s not up to a week, yet he’s already doing this Using Kath against me? I clenched my fist at my side and released a shaky breath.

Reluctantly, I drank the tea but avoided the food.

She even explained the hierarchy system. “Primus Alexander: The leader and founder. Kyrexeis: Second–in–command and advisor.

I remember Alexander referred to Levi as Kyrexeis before.

“Lykoi: Elite warriors and protectors. Syntagma: Scouts and border patrols. Kynigos: Providers and suppliers.” she finished.

I made a mental note of each level she mentioned. It was quite similar to other werewolf packs.

Primus/ Alpha.

Kyrexeis/ Beta.

Lykoi Delta.

Syntagma/ Gamma.

Kynigos/ Omega.

“Aqua!” A voice echoed, pulling me out of my thoughts. I turned back to see a figure running up the stairs towards us with arms wide open.

“Katherine,” I breathed out in relief as my legs carried me over to her.

Her arms wrapped around my waist as we met in a hug, and it felt like a huge boulder had been taken away from my shoulder. “Are you – OK?” we asked at the same time as we pulled back.

Then she turned me around as if checking for bruises or wounds. Katherine’s eyes shone with tears as she held me tightly.

“I’m so glad you’re okay,” she whispered, releasing a shaky breath. “I feared you were dead. How are you still able to move after all the things that happened last night?”

“Last night?” I stared at her confused.

“His men didn’t say anything, just that you were safe. But you seem….. different.” She stared at me for a long time, and neither of us spoke.

Different? “I don’t understand.”

Katherine opened her mouth to speak, then she closed it back. She glanced around at the guards and glanced back at me. “Let’s go somewhere private,” she whispered.

Juliet escorted us to the garden and signalled others to excuse us. “We’ll continue later, Luna; when you need me, just call for me,” she said as she walked away.

“What happened, Aqua,” Katherine asked worriedly.

I told her everything that happened from when Alpha Felix’s guards separated us till last night. I watched her eyes widen and her hands covering her open mouth,

“Oh my! Aqua An heir?” She whispered. “For him?” She asked with wide eyes, and I nodded.

“We already did it last night,” added, looking down and biting my lip

“Did it hurt soo much? Was he rough? Are you sore?” she threw these questions at my face all at once. The noise that came from the tower last might was terrifying,” she added, her hands rubbing her arms as she shivered.

Last night was terrifying

The last thing I remembered was Alexander going berserk and biting me like I was food for a hungry beast.

It was soo embarrassing that I could not even look at Alexander in the face properly this morning.

I rolled my eyes and continued, “Kath, he even used his tongue on my-”

I stopped.

I heard a loud ringing in my ear as goosebumps spread all over my body. The sound of Kath’s laughter faded away in the distance as my senses seemed to feel… cloudy.
