Chapter 6

Apr 24, 2025

Game On, Elena

The moment Elena saw the news flash across her screen, her heart dropped. She stared at the TV, her face pale as Ashley’s smug grin filled the screen.

The recording of Demitri’s betrayal and her confession about manipulating the fertilization process of the eggs—was now public knowledge. The whole world would know what they had done.

“That bitch!” Elena hissed, slamming the remote onto the coffee table. She whipped out her phone, her fingers shaking as she dialed Ashley’s number.

Ring.

Ring.

No answer.

“Of course she’s not picking up,” Elena muttered, her voice thick with fury. She threw herself onto the couch and typed out a scathing message.

“You think this is over? Think again, Ashley. You’re going to regret crossing me. You haven’t seen the worst of me yet.”

She hit send with a smug smile, certain the threat would make Ashley shake in her boots. But just as she leaned back, basking in her own arrogance, the door to the room flew open with a force that rattled the walls.

Demitri stormed in, his face contorted with rage.

Elena froze. She had expected him to be mad, but this? This was something else.

“Demitri!” she gasped, standing up quickly, trying to compose herself. “What’s going on? Why are you—”

Before she could finish, Demitri was on her. He didn’t even think twice. His hand shot out, and with one swift motion, he slapped her across the face.

“How dare you!” Elena shouted, her eyes wide in shock. She stumbled back, clutching her cheek.

Demitri was shaking with anger. “How dare I?!” he shot back, his voice a low growl. “How dare you ruin everything we’ve worked for? Eight good chances, Elena! Eight! You made sure we lost every single one of them!”

Elena blinked, her cheek still stinging. “You think I’m going to let that woman’s egg become our baby? Of course not!” she snapped, her voice rising with the heat of the argument.

Demitri clenched his fists. “You deliberately made sure no baby would come from those eggs! You were the one sabotaging everything! You didn’t care about us, about our future!”

“Don’t you dare blame me!” Elena shouted back, stepping closer to him.

Demitri took a step back, his eyes cold and unfeeling as he stared at him with disappointment. “I’m done, Elena. I’m done with all of this.”

Elena froze, her heart skipping a beat. “What do you mean, ‘done’?”

He didn’t answer right away. Instead, he turned toward the door, his jaw set, his back to her.

Elena moved towards him, desperation creeping into her voice. “Demitri, wait!”

She reached for him, her hand brushing his chest, her fingers pleading for him to stay. But Demitri flinched, and with a swift motion, he pushed her away.

“I said I’m done,” he repeated, his tone final. “This is over.”

“Well, I’m just getting started,” Elena retorted, her voice filled with venom as she watched him walk out.
