That day’s lecture was a total disaster for Lucas.[]
He seemed completely distracted, like his mind was somewhere else. When students asked questions, he’d zone out and stumble through his answers.[]
The whole thing fell flat. After it was over, I didn’t even show my face – just had Quinn walk him to the parking lot.

“All those little everyday things – I never paid attention to them. But now that they’re gone, I realize they were like… part of me.“[
“It’s so hard to change.”
“Maya, I’m sorry. I was completely out of line before. I broke your heart, and I finally get how wrong I was.“]
“Can you give me one more chance?“]]
Looking at his sincere eyes and that pleading smile on his face, I felt kind of dazed.[]
Because this wasn’t the Lucas I remembered.[]
He was always so cold, like we lived in completely different worlds.[]
He never backed down from a fight.[]
