Chapter 3
Tania’s case was quite special. I had never handled similar cases before. It was a difficult one for me.
After all, I had to take the patient’s physical condition and the medication’s side effects into account.
I had tried my best, but only Tania or her baby got to live.
As the baby was too could only choose to save Tania’s life.

The other doctors present all looked grim. They knew it given Tania’s wound, it was hardly possible for her to have a baby again.
But her vital signs allowed no hesitation.
I looked up at my assistant by my side.
“Go and let the patient’s family sign the critical condition notice. Tell him her current status and that the baby can’t be kept.”
Then, I was about to focus on stopping the bleeding and sewing up the wound when I felt a gut–wrenching pain in my stomach.
A surge of tearing sensation just swept across my body, making me almost kneel.
I had to sit down and take a rest. The good thing was that the operation wasn’t in the critical moment yet. My colleague could cover me up.
I took a deep breath and finally felt better in a while.
Then, I pushed myself to finish the hardest part of the surgery despite feeling unwell.
More than two hours later, the operation was finally over.
Tania was under observation for a while. We didn’t wheel her out of the operating room until we made sure her vital signs were stable.
As soon as I got out of the door, my legs went limp and I nearly fell to the ground.
The other doctors hurriedly came and held me.
“Thank you so much. You’re pregnant but you still made it through the operation.”
“You’re such an amazing doctor. It’s our honor to learn from you.”
“Rest assured. We’ll report this to the director. You should definitely be rewarded for this.”
I touched my belly and my lips twitched.
It didn’t matter. I didn’t plan to keep the baby anyway!
I was escorted back to my break room.
Before I entered the room, I saw Antonio rush at me with his face fierce- looking and fists clenched.
He kicked me in the belly before others could react.
“It’s you, a useless doctor, who killed my kid.
“I knew the doctors here were unreliable. You can’t even handle that illness.”

“Hmph, don’t be shy. Show everybody your face!”
He grabbed my hair and pointed the camera at my face.
The moment he saw me clearly, he was completely dumbfounded. He took a few steps back in disbelief.
“Why is it you? Why are you here?”
