Chapter 10

Meanwhile, over at the hospital, things were tense. Roy had Angela go through a bunch of tests, and the doctor looked a bit puzzled at the report in hand. “Mr. Roy,” he said, trying to sound reassuring but with a hint of helplessness, all of Ms. Angela’s tests came back normal. There’s nothing physically wrong.

Roy’s expression shifted to one of frustration, his voice as cold as ice. If everything’s fine, then why isn’t she waking up?

The doctor hesitated, feeling the weight of Roy’s intense gaze. He finally spoke, choosing his words carefully. Ms. Angela’s physical health is perfect. The reason she hasn’t woken up might be psychological, ormaybe she’s just resting.

Resting?Roy scoffed, his impatience clear. Are you saying she’s pretending?”

The doctor, feeling overwhelmed by Roy’s intensity, quickly shook his head. No, no, that’s not what I meant. From a medical standpoint, there’s truly nothing wrong with her.

Ignoring the doctor, Roy returned to Angela’s side, sitting by her bed with worry etched on his face as he watched her pale features. He stayed there all day, not bothering to check his phone even when it buzzed with notifications.”

Finally, as evening rolled around, Angela’s eyes fluttered open. Royshe murmured, her voice soft and fragile.% Roy leaned in, his tone suddenly gentle and caring. Angela, you’re awake. How are you feeling? Are you okay?

Angela shook her head slightly, her eyes misty. I’m alright, just a little dizzyRoy, have you been here the whole time?% Roy squeezed her hand gently, his eyes filled with warmth. Of course. You’ve been out for so long. I couldn’t leave you.“2 Angela was moved to tears, her voice cracking with emotion. Roy, you’re so kind to meI don’t even know how to thank you.Roy smiled softly, wiping away her tears. Don’t mention it. Just rest up. I’ll get you something to eat.”

He stood up and headed to the small kitchen outside the ward, returning with a warm bowl of soup. Carefully, he helped her take a few spoonfuls

After a few bites, Angela softly pushed his hand away, her voice tender. Roy, you’ve been here all day. You should rest too. I’ll be fine.Roy felt the fatigue catching up with him. He nodded and grabbed his phone as he prepared to leave. But just as he unlocked it, a message from Emma popped up

[Roy, I heard everything at the club that day. There’s only hate when there’s love. Now that I don’t hate you as much, I guess it’s because I don’t love you anymore. The good thing about being with an older woman is she knows when to hold on and when to let go. I hope you win over your sweetheart. Let’s end things here.

Roy froze, his mind reeling. The clubwhat did he say

Suddenly, he recalled that night with his friends, the careless conversation over drinks. Each word echoed back at him, cutting deep. Feelings? For a practice toy?}]

Emma heard it all

Roy’s heart sank, his hands trembling. It all made sense nowwhy Emma had been so distant, why she kept avoiding him, and why her eyes held a detachment he couldn’t quite place

She had known all along
