Chapter 184
With her eyes closed, Sienna blurted out without thinking. Don’t hold me like this. Lean’t sleep.
“Why? We used to always sleep like this, didn’t we?” Josiah was a bit taken aback.
Sienna incered, “You also said it was before. Do you think today and the past are the same! I don’t want you touching me for now.” Even though she retumed with him, it didn’t mean everything was resolved
Josiah’s arm stiffened slightly around her. “Not for now! How long would that bel”
“I don’t know. I can’t answer something I’m not even sure about myself” Sienna shook her head. Deep down, she thought that if she was pregnant right now, then “for now” might as well mean forever.
As Josiah remained silem. Sienna raised her voice. “You don’t agree?” She wasn’t afraid of his disagreement because she thought he still needed her for Yvette.
Sure enough, after a long silence. Josiah surrendered. “Alright” But just as the words left his mouth, he held her even tighter.
Sienna felt confused.
Before she could react, Josiah whispered in her car, I’ll do whatever you want. But can you promise me to forget Cedric and try to make things work with me!
With that, he let go of her. “Goodnight,” he said, then turned over so they were back to back.
Sienna’s eyes widened in the dark, her mind in a whirl. “What does he mean by that I thought we were just in care about my feelings? Isn’t that a bit much? I don’t even mind that he still likes Yvette”
n this together. Why does he suddenly
Eventually. Sienna was too exhausted to stay awake and finally fell asleep. In a daze, it seemed like Josiah got up several times to replace the ice parks, give her some water, and even change her sweat soaked pajamas once.
As dawn approached, things finally quieted down, and Sienna fell into a deeper sleep. When she opened her eyes again, still a bit dazed, she realized she was all alone in the room.
She was awakened by her phone’s ringtone. It was Joyce calling from Tara’s phone. “Hello, Joyce,” Sienna said, her voice soft.
“Mommy.” Joyce called sweetly. “Yesterday you left without saying goodbye. When I got home, you weren’t there.”
“Are you angry!”
“Just a tiny bit. Mommy, are you feeling better? Is your work too exhausting?
Sienna’s heart swelled with warmth and love. Joyce was her little angel, and no matter how difficult Josiah could be, she would handle anything for her. Joyce, don’t worry. I’m doing just fine.
After finishing the call with Joyce, Sienna glanced at the clock and realized it was almost noon. Feeling refreshed and without any discomfort, she
threw off the covers and got out of bed.
She walked over to the window and pulled back the curtains. Sunlight burst in, making her eyes sting. She squinted and raised her hand to shield
them.
Just then, Josiah walked in and called, “Sienna”
Sienna turned around, bewildered as the watched him stride over, brimming with anger.
“Can’t you take good care of yourself?” Josiah closed the gap in a few quick steps, wrapped an arm around her waist, and lifted her as if she were a child.
“What’s the matter? Sienna asked, completely puzzled. “Why’s
‘s he so angry all of a sudden?
“You’re asking met red lier on the bed. “Wait right here. He turned and dashed into the coatroom. Moments later, be returned with a pair of socks and crouched at her feet. He held her ankle, stretched the socks open, and gently pulled them onto her feet.
Sienna’s feet were as delicate as she was, but her toes were round. The toenails were neatly trimmed to match their shape, with no polish, revealing their natural pink color, looking quite cute.
After putting on her socks, Josiah hesitated to let go. His earlier annoyance about her bare feet on the floor had almost completely faded.

He spoke again. His tone was still somewhat scolding. I
but gentler this time. “You just
got over a fever. You shouldn’t be walking around barefoot
Sienna blinked. Huh? It’s indoors, alright? Outside, it’s snowing heavily, but here, we have a 24–hour fresh air system. Plus, the hardwood floors are carpeted. It’s not cold at all: it’s actually pretty warm!
“Moreover, remember when you ended up in the hospital with stomach cramps during your period? Don’t step on the cold floor barefoot anymore. Even when I’m not around, you need to be cautious, Josiah said, cradling her feet in his hands to warm them up.
What’s he doing? Sienna felt a bit panicked. She couldn’t help but remember his words from last night about forgetting Cedric, not to mention how he stayed up all night, getting up several times to check on her.
“What’s up with him? Why is he acting like this? Is he afraid that I’ll change my mind and decide not to stay with him, letting Yvette down? Yeah, that’s got to be it she thought, struggling to come up with any other explanation.
Figuring she had understood. Sienna relaxed. She pulled her feet from his hands and said nonchalantly. I get it. You don’t have to nag
Josiah stood up and gently smoothed her slightly messy hair. “Hungry? Want something to eat?”
“Yeah.” Sienna nodded. She started to feel a bit hungry.
“Great. If you’re thinking about food, it means you’re getting better.” Josiah breathed a sigh of relief, feeling a bit proud of himself. “Good thing I brought you back. The fever went down overnight.
After a pause, he added, “I’ll have someone get the meal ready and bring it up here. You can eat in the room, okay?”
“No” Sienna frowned. “I don’t want the room smelling like food.”
Josiah raised an eyebrow at her high standards. He bent down and picked her up. Tll carry you downstairs. You haven’t eaten for long, and you won’t have the strength to walk.”
Once downstairs, the hourly servant had already set the dining table. Looking at the feast laid out, Sienna pressed her lips together, deciding to make an exception today and eat a bit more than usual,
Josiah noticed her subtle expressions. He picked up a crab cake and placed it on her plate. “Go ahead and eat. Once you’re healthy again, you can worry about your figure. You’ve skipped enough meals; indulging just this once won’t make you gain weight.”
“Alright.” Sienna was convinced and picked up her fork.
Josiah watched her with a warm smile when his phone rang. It was Zach calling. He picked up the call and stepped aside, saying “Yeah, it’s me. Go abrad…
It was about work. Sienna’s fever had just broken that morning, and Josiah didn’t feel right leaving her, so he hadn’t gone to the office. Zach kept in touch with him while handling what he could. For things he couldn’t handle, he’d consult Josiah for advice.
The phone call was dragging on longer than expected. Sienna had already finished her meal, but he was still on the line. She hesitated, glancing down at her feet, only clad in socks–he had carried her down without shoes.
Just then, her phone rang. “Hey, Rosie,” she said as she picked up the call
Rosie asked with concern, “Are you alright? Is he treating you okay?”
“Yeah, and my f
my fever’s gone, Sienna replied
That’s a relief,” Rosie said and then sighed. “He seemed so scary, but I guess he must be good to you, right? You two probably had a misunderstanding. Anyone who would fly a helicopter across cities to take you to a hospital can’t be all bad, can they**
