Chapter 240
“Yvette.” At that moment, Howard saw the madness in her eyes,
Howard handed Bobby to Miranda. “Be good, Bobby. I have something to do. Stay with Great–Grandma, okay?” He then turned to Miranda,
“I know. I know,” Miranda didn’t need him to explain. “Go ahead. Don’t worry. I’ll take care of Hobby.”
“Thank you, Grandma,” said Howard.
“Alright” Miranda held the bewildered Bobby and soothed him with heartache. “Don’t be afraid, Hobby. This is a grown–up business. It has nothing to do with you. Come home with me.”
Children were sensitive. Bobby could feel that Miranda truly loved him. He nodded obediently.
“Good boy. Let’s go said Miranda,
Yvette rushed out the door, got into the car, and drove forward recklessly.
The orphanage was built on a mountain in Galiralle. This area was mountainous. By the time Howard took his men out to chase after her, Yvette was long gone.
Howard had a rough night. He was still recovering, having woken up from a coma for only a few months after several years. Now he felt a dull pain in his legs and head
Hervey could tell. “Mr. Howard Flynn, why don’t you go back first? I will find Ms. Young“”“
Howard frowned. Tm afraid that even if you find her, she won’t come back with your
Hervey had no words to refute this.
Over there, Miranda put Hobby in the car. Seeing Howard’s predicament, she walked over and said. “Howard, you can’t push yourself too hard. Come home with me.”
Howard besitated. “But Grandma…
“How about this?” Miranda said decisively to Hervey “Contact Josiah and ask him to come over. Yvette may not listen to you, but she’ll listen to Josiah,” The rest of her words were directed at Howard.
Howard hesitated “Grandma, it’s too late to trouble Josiah, and besides, this is my
business…
“Don’t be a stranger,” Miranda insisted. “We’re family. What’s yours is his. If something were to happen to you, how could Josiah live with himself? Be good and listen to me.”
She glared at Hervey. “What are you standing there for? Hurry up!”
“Yes, Mrs. Flynn.” Hervey nodded
At four in the morning. Josiah was awakened from a sound sleep by the ringing of his phone. He picked up the phone and glanced at Sienna beside him
Sienna was a light sleeper and was already awake.
She closed her eyes. “Go answer it outside.”
“Okay” Josiah took his phone and tiptoed out the door. “Hervey, what’s up?”
Hervey truthfully explained what had happened, apologizing, “Mr. Josiah Flynn, Mr. Howard Flynn is tired. Mrs. Flynn asked me to contact you. Sorry to disturb your rest
After hearing hin
him finish, Josiah rubbed the space between his eyebrows. “Tunderstand. It’s alright. I be right there.”
“Okay, Mr. Flynn” Hanging up the phone, Josiah sighed deeply. For Howard and Yveite, he couldn’t refuse. It was just. He didn’t know how to tell
Sienna about this.
He pushed the door open, sat down by the bed, and hesitated. “Sienna.”
Sienna’s back was to him, her eyes tightly closed. “Are you done? Can I sleep
I sleep now! Turn off the light. It’s dazzling”
“Sienna,” Josiah said with difficulty. “I have to go out
Sienna suddenly opened her eyes and turned over. “Now
Josiah took her hand and said softly. “Yes. It’s Howard. He has something going on.
“What happened to Howard!” Sienna couldn’t help but ask when she heard that. She also treated Howard as her brother. “Is he unwell?”
“No, not at all” Seeing her worry, Josiah hurriedly shook his head, both reassuring and explaining. “Howard is fine”
“Then what is it?” Sienna frowned, pressing him. “Isn’t Flynn Group still under your Full
management?”
Silence followed her words. Josiah frowned at her, considering how to broach the subject. Their eyes met in a silent exchange.
In an instant. Sienna understood. A soft smile touched her lips. “It’s Yvene,” she stated, not as a question but as a fact.
Josiah’s heart skipped a beat. He tightened his grip on her hand, afraid of her anger, “Sienna, L”
“Go ahead,” Sienna said calmly. It must be urgent, calling you away in the middle of the night. No need for explanations. Just hurry.”
“Sienna,” Josiah frowned, his voice laced with doubt. “You’re not angry?”
“I’m not angry?” Sienna shook her head with a smile, but then added. “But if I were and asked you not to go, would you stay!”
Josiah was speechless. His expression spoke volumes.
“See?” Sienna gave a faint smile. “Whether I’m angry or not won’t change anything. Why should I waste my energy?”
She pulled her hand away and gave him a title push. “Go on, then. She’s waiting for you”
Josiah hesitated ‘Sienna.
Sienna ignored him and glanced out the window. “It’s very late. Im going to sleep. You should go
Josiah stared at her face. He felt like she was angry, but he couldn’t stay. “Well then, I’ll be going”
“Hmm,” Sienna said with a faint smile and nodded.
Josiah got up and went into the cloakroom. When he came out, Sienna was already lying down, her back still to him.
Suddenly, Josiah’s chest tightened, and he felt a pang. “Sienna, I’m leaving”
“Hmm..” Sienna maintained her previous posture and replied softly. She said nothing more and didn’t look at him.
Josiah waited another two seconds, but all he got was silence. He had seen that it had started to sleet while he was changing in the dressing roomt He bent down and touched Sienna’s face. “It’s slecting outside. It’s cold. Keep the blanket on”
Sienna’s eyes were closed, and she seemed to be falling asleep. She didn’t even answer him.
“Well then, I’m leaving Josiah froze for two seconds, then withdrew his hand, turned, and left the room.
The moment the door closed, Sienna opened her eyes, her gaze clear and calm.
That was close. She almost messed up. Tonight, while making Greek yogurt for him, she thought about being with him, just for a moment. What a silly, scary thought. Luckily, a call took Josiah away and snapped her out of it.
In the car, Josiah gripped the steering wheel, his brows furrowed in extreme frustration.
His mind was racing, wondering, “What is Sienna doing now! Is she asleep? She is a light sleeper, so she shouldn’t have fallen asleep so easily. But then why didn’t she say anything when I left
I said it was sleeting outside, but she didn’t seem to hear. She didn’t tell me to be careful. Earlier, when she made Greek yogurt for me. I felt she was getting closer. But now, she’s back to where she was
The phone rang. It was Yvette. Josiah collected himself. Yvette,” he called out
Yvette said in a trembling voice, Josiah, I’m so scared…”
