Chapter 304
Rosie wasn’t the type to crave excitement, but since everyone would be sharing the same courtyard and seeing each other often, she felt it was nice to have someone to chat with. The convalescent home was just too quiet.
Rosie asked Amy, “Who’s moving in! How old are they? Is she an auntie, a sister, a little girl, or, someone around my age?”
Amy couldn’t help but chuckle. She said, “Ms. Miller, did you ever consider it might be an uncle, a brother, or a little boy?” She wondered why Rosie assumed the new neighbor to be a female.
Rosie was taken aback; she hadn’t thought of that. She asked, “So, is it a gentleman?”

Rosie nodded in agreement. She said. “Makes sense”
After a while, the courtyard returned to its peaceful state.
Rosie guessed that maybe the moving was done and everything was organized. But there was still no sign of activity as if her new neighbor hadn’t arrived yet.
As the sun began to set, Amy helped Rosie back inside, and Rosie forgot all about il

Amy helped Rosic put on her coat and guided her to sit in the courtyard, even placing a blanket on the chair. She said, “Ms. Miller, don’t move. I’ll bring out some tea and snacks.”
Rosie smiled and nodded. She said, “Okay I’m not a child; I won’t move around”
Amy said, “Tll be right back” Then she turned and went inside.
Rosie sat alone, the sun warming her body so pleasantly that she squinted her eyes in contentment. Ever since she lost her sight, her hearing had become incredibly sharp.
She could clearly hear the leaves rustling gently and the gentle flow of the nearby artificial lake. Suddenly. Rosie’s eyes widened, her ears perked up and she sat up straight.
She heard a baby crying. She pursed her lips and unconsciously clenched her hands. She stood up abruptly and started feeling her way towards the
sound.
The crying grew clearer to her ears. She murmured, “It’s right here.”
When Amy came out with the tea and snacks, she noticed Rosie was gone. Her face turned pale. She shouted and ran out. “Where are you, Ms. Miller? Where did you go? Ms. Miller! Ms. Miller!”
Amy didn’t go far when she saw Rosie standing by the pond. Amy’s heart leaped into her throat. She screamed, “Ms. Miller!”
Rosie was startled by Amy’s voice and suddenly came to her senses. She was confused, thinking, “Where am It Why am I here? Suddenly, her foot slipped.
Jeiacrity had experienced two days of continuous rain, and the muddy ground by the lake was wet and slippery. Rosie lost her bulance and fell into the pond
Amy who had caught up was terrified. She shouted, “Ms. Miller! Help! Somebody, please help!”
Although it was an artificial lake, it was deep enough–10-17 feet–to easily drown someone.
The icy cold water quickly enveloped Rosie, rushing into her nostrils. Instinctively, Rosie opened her mouth to call for help, “Save..” but not a single syllable escaped before water filled her mouth.
Rosie shook her head in agony. Her clothes, soaked d with water, became heavier, pulling her down towards the bottom of the lake.
Suddenly, there was a splash as someone jumped into the lake.

Chapter 301
Just as Rosie was about to suffocate, she felt someone wrap their arms around her waist and slowly bring her to the surface.
Amy stared in shock at the water. The security guard who had rushed over, ready to dive in and save Rosie, was also stunned. They looked at each other, all speechless. They couldn’t believe Howard jumped in himself
Howard, drenched from head to toe, carried Rosie to the shore. The security guard quickly moved in to help pull them out.
Rosie coughed, turning her head to spit out the lake water she had swallowed.
Amy hurried over to support Rosie. She said, “Ms. Miller, quickly, get up. You need to take a hot bath right away.”
Rosie nodded, but as soon as she tried to stand, she fell back down. She was still shaken and her legs were weak.
“Let me carry her,” the security guard said as he stepped forward, extending his arm towards Rosie.
Howard frowned, blocking the security guard’s arm. He said. “Hold on! I’ll do it!”
The security guard paused, stepping back silently. Amy also tactfully moved aside.
Howard stepped forward, bent down, extended his arm, and lifted Rosie horizontally into his arms.
Rosie’s eyes widened as she felt a strong unfamiliar presence envelop her. Although she couldn’t see, she knew it was Howard who had saved her.
Feeling awkward in his arms, not knowing where to place her hands, Rosie looked up earnestly and said. “Thank you for saving me?
Howard glanced down at Rosie in his arms and smiled slightly. He replied, “You’re welcome
Rosie thought. His voice is quite pleasant
Worried that Rosic would catch a cold, Howard quickly made his way back to the townhouse.
Amy had already drawn a hot bath. She pointed towards the bathroom and said, “This way.”
Howard nodded and carried Rosie into the bathroom, then came back out
By t
the time Rosie finished her hot bath and came out, Howard was gone. The doctor had already been there to check her over.
At that moment, Amy brought Rosie some water. Rosie thanked her and sipped it slowly.
Amy questioned. “Ms. Miller, didn’t I tell you not to wander off? What were you doing just now?”
Rosie’s brows furrowed slightly as she shook her head in confusion. She replied, “I’m sorry for the trouble. I’m not quite sure myself, I heard a baby crying
Amy was confused and pressed on, “Why would you go towards the sound of a baby crying?”
Rosie was even more puzzled. She replied, “I don’t know. She questioned herself, “Why would I do that?”
“Don’t worry about it, Amy interrupted her, “Finish your water. It’s so cold out, and that lake water was freezing”
Rosie nodded and then asked, “By the way, do you know the gentleman who saved me?*
“Not really.” Amy said, “He’s the new neighbor next door
Rosie was slightly surprised. She asked, “Has he already moved in?”
Amy replied, “Yes. It’s been two days now.”
Rosie thought, This gentleman must be very quiet, seemingly not one for much fuss!
Next door, Howard took a bath to wash away the chill. After he got dressed and came out, he saw Amy waiting for him
Amy recounted her conversation with Rosie in detail. Then she said, “That’s everything.”
Howard waved his hand and said, “Understood. You may go. Take extra care of her. If you’re ever too tired, I’ll arrange for someone to relieve you.”
Hearing this. Amy felt a jolt in her heart. She replied. “Got it” As she was leaving, she pointed to the table and said. “Mr. Flynn, I left the water there. Remember to drink it.
Howard nodded. He walked over to the table and picked up the water. He thought. She heard a baby cry and ran towards it, yet not understanding why. Her condition is more serious than I have imagined.”
Howard frowned, rubbing his aching thigh. He hadn’t fully recovered yet, and he had been pushing himself too hard today…
