Chapter 317
With the holidays around the corner, Sienna and Tara were busy preparing for Christmas Day.
As arranged with Rosie carlier, Sienna headed to the nursing home two days in advance to pick her up.
Since Sienna wasn’t a direct relative, it actually took some time to complete the paperwork.
“Finally done!”
After returning. Sienna helped Rosie pack her things hope I didn’t forget anything. If I did you can borrow mine.”
“Okay,” Rosie replied with a smile, nodding.
Cu
“Hey,” Sienna suddenly exclaimed, looking bewildered. “Why do you have so many Christmas goodies here!”
“Is it a lot” Rosie’s eyes were a bit unclear. “Jane said they came from the nursing home.”
The nursing home really thought this through.”
Sienna casually flipped through the items, feeling a strange familiarity… These items were just like the ones Josiah had sent her a few days ago.
The stuff from the nursing home was surprisingly nice.
Sienna frowned, sensing an indescribable feeling bubbling up inside her.
“Sienna” Rosie had finished getting ready. “Can we go now!”
“Sure!”
snapped back to reality and went over to help Rosie up. “Let’s go home.”
Sunshine Neighborhood was pretty safe. Daniel had no idea she was there, so they could enjoy the holiday without worry.
The day before Christmas Day, bright and early, Joyce woke up. Sienna dressed her in a red sweatshirt, tying her hair into two little buns on the sides, and even added a touch of red lipstick on her forehead.
All done!*
Joyce dashed to the mirror and couldn’t stop admiring herself. “Wow, I look fabulous!”
“Ha!” Sienna couldn’t hold back her laughter.
“Haha,” Rosie chimed in, also grinning. “Joyce is so adorable!”
Joyce turned around and corrected her, “Rosie, it’s fabulous, fabulous.
“Right, right” Rosie laughed, switching her wording. “I misspoke. It’s fabulous!”
Sienna ruffled Joyce’s buns. “Be a good girl and play with me, okay? I can’t see very well, so you have to take care of me, alright?”
“Yeah, I know”
Joyce nodded seriously and then asked, “Mom, when is Josiah coming over!”
The little one hadn’t forgotten Josial’s promise.
Upon hearing Joyce’s question, Sienna paused. Ever since that night, she hadn’t heard anything from Josiah
He probably wasn’t back in Jelacrity yet. She wasn’t sure if he’d be able to come tonight.
“Mommy, mommy Joyce tugged at her mother’s shirt. “Hurry and tell me!”
“Joyce, sweetie.”
Tara jumped in, smiling to help Sienna out of the tight spot

It’s your secret pact with Josiah. Your mom doesn’t know either. Besides, look at the time! He said he’d come over to keep you company for Christmas Eve It’s still bright out, we’re not in a rush”
Do we have to wait until it’s dark?” Joyce pouted, peering out at the glaring afternoon sun. “Oh, fine! I’ll just go hang out with Auntie”
All day long had been busy and bustling. The Christmas eve dinner was prepared by Sienna and Tara together. Although there weren’t many people, they still set up a huge table. To avoid waste, they made sure each dish was in modest portions.
“Rosie.” Joyce sat on the steps, passing a dish to Rosie. “You should eat this”
Thanks, Joyce Rosie smiled gently. “You’re such a little angel!”
“Yep!” Joyce replied, munching on her food while keeping an eye on the window. “Mom, it’s getting dark”
“Keep eating, sweetheart Tara said, pulling out a napkin to wipe Joyce’s mouth. “Josiah is having dinner with his family right now too.”
“Oh, right.“Joyce replied.
As the evening approached, winter days grew shorter. Once the sun dipped below the horizon, it was suddenly patch black outside.
Sienna flipped on the TV. The four of them–three adults and one child–sat on the couch, watching TV and snacking.
“Mommy, has Josiah and his family finished dinner yet?” Joyce nestled in Sienna’s arms, already feeling a bit sleepy.
“Not yet Sienna replied, glancing outside to avoid Joyce’s disappointment.
She continued. “Josiah is still having drinks and taking his time with the food”
“Oh “Joyce’s eyelids began to drop further ‘So, Josiah will come, right?”
“Are you sleepy. Joyce
Sienna asked, not wanting
to dismiss her concern outright. “Why don’t you take a little nap! I’ll wake you
when Josiah gets here.”
“Okay” Joyce murmured, unable to keep her eyes open anymore. She burrowed deeper into her mother’s embrace. “Mommy, remember to call me when Josish arrives.”
“Ok” Sienna replied.
Slowly, Joyce drified into a deep sleep. Sienna gently picked her daughter up and carried her to the bedroom, tucking her under the covers.
It was already past eight, and Sienna felt a slight pulse of uncase at her temple. If Josiah had returned to Jeiacrity, he definitely would have contacted her by now.
OPM, at Jeiacrity International Airport, in the VIP exit, Josiah hurriedly stepped out with Yvette, followed closely by Chester and James.
He held his phone to his ear, speaking with Zach. “I’m in the garage. Okay, we’re heading straight over
He glanced at Yvette, who looked worn out. “We’re heading to the garage.
Yvette nodded, appearing more tired than usual “Okay”
Once at the garage, they met up with Zach, Josiah looked at his watch. “How many cars are ready?”
“Two”
“Alright,” Josiah confirmed, then instructed Zach, “take Yvette to the Flynn family home. Grandma and Howard are waiting for her
“Yes, Mr. Flynn,” Zach replied.
“Josiah, Yvette interjected, puzzled. “Aren’t you coming with me?”
Josiah shook his head. “I have something to take care of.”

“What is it…”
“Wette,” he internipted, urgency in his voice, Tm in a hurry and really need to leave
He led Chester and James to another vehicle.
As the car pulled away, Yvette stood still, perplexed. On an occasion like this, how could anything be more important than reuniting with family!
Meanwhile, in the car, Chester, who was driving, suddenly changed demeanor. “Mr. Flynn, something feels off with the car.
“What do you mean!” Josiah straightened up, alarmed.
“It’s the brakes!” Chester frowned, panic creeping into his voice. They’re not working!”
James added, “Someone tampered with the car.”
“It’s not just the brakes; the steering wheel is messed up too
The car sped forward uncontrollably, heading straight toward a concrete pillar in the lot
If they hit that, it would be a disaster–total wreck, no survivors.
“What do we do now!”
Jump, Mr. Flynn! It’s the only way!”
barking
The car’s speed was still climbing, and although jumping was dangerous, it was their only option.
“Okay.” Josiah nodded.
The three exchanged quick glances, all thinking the same thing. They grabbed the doors, yanked them open, and leaped out simultaneously.
Behind them. Yvette and Zach followed closely, slamming on the brakes.
“What’s going on?” Yvette shouted as she bolted from the car, “Josiah!”
“Stay back!” Josiah shouted just as he heard the sickening sound of metal colliding with concrete. The car slammed into the pillar.
Josiah had just landed when the force of the jump sent him sprawling to the ground. Further aggravated by the impact, the jolt caused him to tumble violently, almost knocking him out.
“Josiah!” Yvette’s eyes filled with tears, a mix of fear and anger surfacing as she wanted to rush to him.
“Ms. Young!” Zach quickly grabbed her arm, stopping her. “It’s too dangerous. Mr. Flynn wouldn’t want you risking yourself for him!”
As Josiah hit the ground, a sharp pain shot through the back of his head. Everything blurred, the world around him fading into darkness.
Instinctively, he raised a hand to cradle his head, feeling something warm and sticky. The metallic scent of blood filled his senses… It was his own.
