Chapter 318
“Josiah Yvette broke free from Zach and dashed toward Josiah, kneeling in front of him.
Her brows furrowed deeply, lips pale. “How are you? Where are you hurt?”
Just then, she noticed Josiah moving his hand away from the back of his head. She held his hand. “Let me see”
At the sight of blood, panic surged through her.
“You hit your head?”
Before he could respond, she whipped around and glared at Zach. “Get the car here now! We need to go to the hospital–immediately!”
Turning back, she gripped Josiah’s arm. “Can you move? Can you stand?”
“I can.” Josiah managed with some effort as he rose to his feet.
Chester and James had both come over. They were injured too, but still able to move relatively well.
Zach had already brought the car around. Yvette linked her arm with his. “Hurry, get in
“Alright”
Josiah bent down to enter the vehicle. Just as Yvette was about to follow, he stopped her. “Yvette, you don’t have to come. I’m not going to the hospital.
“What?” Wette exclaimed, bewildered. “You’re hurt like this, and you refuse to go to the hospital”
Suddenly, it hit her–just before the accident, he had mentioned he needed to take care of something.
Yvette’s frustration boiled over, and she stamped her foot. “Don’t tell me you have something else to deal with!”
“Yes“Josiah confirmed with a nod
He glanced back at Chester and James, who instinctively got into the car with
with him; naturally, they were going to stick with Josiah
Josiah then turned to Zach. “I’m in a hurry. Arrange for another vehicle and make sure Yvette gets home safely
“Don’t worry, Mr. Flynn”
“Josiah,” Yvette called out.
Yvene suddenly tightened her grip on the car door handle. “No matter where you plan to go, you can’t. You have to go to the hospital–right now!”
She locked eyes with Josiah, tears brimming in her eyes, her body trembling slightly, and she stood her ground.
Josial didn’t have time to waste and shot a quick look at Zach-
Zach understood immediately and pushed Yvette aside.
“Let me go!” Yvette protested, trying to break free, but Zach held her tight.
“Drive!” Josiah instructed
Yvette could only watch helplessly as the car sped away.
It wasn’t until the car was far off that Zach finally released her. “Sorry, Ms. Young”
“You–1
Yvette glared at Zach with fury.”
fury. “You better tell me where he’s going!”
Zach shook his head. “Ms. Young, it’s
it’s best
you don’t ask about this.”
“Don’t ask?” Yvette narrowed her eyes, making a wild guess. “He’s not meeting Sienna, is her

Chapter 318
Zach fell silent. Well, that must be it. For Sienna, he was willing to risk everything
The clock on the wall ticked slonely past eleven.
Sienna frowned, glancing at her phone repeatedly, but it remained blank.
Looks like Josiah wasn’t coming tonight.
Sienna sighed softly, hoping that Joyce would sleep soundly through the night; otherwise, she’d be disappointed.
Even if that didn’t happen, she knew she’d wake up feeling down tomorrow.
Sienna felt a pang of annoyance. Josiah shouldn’t have promised Joyce anything. It was so hard to calm a child’s disappointment.
“Siennal
“Huh?” Sienna snapped back to reality, recognizing Rosie calling her. “What’s up!”
“Nothing. You were thinking about Mr. Flynn, weren’t you?” Rosie smiled.
“No” Sienna quickly shook her head in denial.
Rosie smirked. “Oh, so it’s because of Joyce, right?
“Yeah” Sienna admitted, handing Rosie a handful of shelled pistachios.
Rosie popped one in her mouth and continued, “No matter how you slice it, you can’t completely cut ties with him, can you?”
Sienna paused, her fingers frozen mid–shelling as she suddenly looked up.
“Just like you and the Flynn family, they took you in and helped you, but they also hurt you. That’s the truth”
Rose sighed. “If you could just hate them without any reservations, it would be simpler.. I totally get that feeling.”
Just like what happened with her and Daniel… with him abusive and unfaithful over and over.
But when it came down to it, she owed him. Even if it wasn’t her intention, Daniel’s personality had twisted after that wedding night incident–he
was a victim too…
The two women sat across from each other, sharing their understanding.
“Try this…”
“There’s no more coffee. I’ll go make another pot”

up when a knock sounded at the door. She turned around sharply. At this hour…
Sienna had just stood up
Knock, knock, accompanied by a deep voice from outside, “Sienna”
It was Josiah, he was back in Jelacrity. She glanced at the wall clock–half past eleven.
“Sienna” Rosie called from the couch. “Why aren’t you answering the door?”
“Oh!” Sienna snapped back to reality and rushed to the door.
As she opened it, there was Josiah, wrapped in a black coat, head down, grinning at her. “Sienna, I’m here!”
His sparkling eyes, dark and bright like a pair of shining stars, reminded her so much of Joyce when he wanted to be praised.
“Come in.” Sienna hesitated for a moment bin stepped aside,
“Ok!” Josiah walked in. He paused, surprised to see Rosie there. “Rosie!”

“Mr. Flynn, Rosie greeted with a smile, standing up from the sofa and then looking over at Sienna. “Sienna, I’m my room! I’m ready to sleep”
n feeling tired. Can you help me to
“Alright.” Sienna nodded.
Sienna hurried over to hug her. Rosie laughed sofily and said, “keep Joyce entertained tonight and watch the fireworks together. See you next year!”
“Yeah, see you next year!”
As Sienna stepped outside, Josiah was on the couch, peeling an orange. When he saw her, he clapped his hands and jumped up.
Joyce’s asleep!”
“She went to bed early,” Sienna replied.
Josiah nodded. “Then I’ll go grab her.”
“Why do you need to wake her?” Sienna stopped him in a hurry.
“To see the fireworks! I promised her, and 1 can’t break that promise,” he said earnestly.
Sienna raised an eyebrow in surprise. “But we’re in the city. Where are we going to see fireworks?”
Even tonight, firing fireworks in the city was prohibited.
“Don’t worry,” Josiah replied, giving her a reassuring look. “I’ve got everything arranged to make sure Joyce gets to see the fireworks.”
He tiptoed into Joyce’s room. The little girl was sprawled on her bed like a tiny frog, sleeping soundly.
Josiah bent down, carefully scooping her up and cradling her in his arms.
Joyce snuggled closer, finding a cozy spot, totally undisturbed.
As he exited the room, Josiah motioned for Sienna “Could you pull back the curtains! And turn off the big light!”
“Sure,” Sienna said, though a hint of confusion flickered in her eyes. She followed his request,
Josiah glanced at the wall clock. It was almost time. He looked down at the little bundle in his arms.
“Can we wake her up?”
Without waiting for Sienna to reply, he shook his head. “Never mind, we’ll just go with it”
The sky suddenly lit up outside.
“Sienna, look?”
Sienna shot up. her eyes
widening as brilliant fireworks burst in the sky, looking like flowers blooming and trees twinkling.
But that wasn’t even the most astonishing part. The next firework exploded, and to her disbelief, it spelled out “Joyce” in stunning colors
“What are you waiting for? Grab your phone and take a picture! I need to show it to Joyce tomorrow. I didn’t lie to her,” he said excitedly.
“Okay”
Sienna quickly picked up her phone and opened the camera.
The colorful lights reflected on her face. Beside her, Josiah was cradling their daughter with a warm smile on his face. “Merry Christmas, Sienna.”
“Merry Christmas, Sienna replied, glancing at him with a smile.
Suddenly, Josiah leaned down and rested his head on her shoulder.
“Josiah: Sienna frowned, instinctively trying to push him away. “Come on, let go!”
“Thud” In an unexpected move, she accidentally pushed Josiah to the ground.
But even as he fell, he kept a tight hold on Joyce, protecting her in his ar
