Chapter 369
There was a few seconds of silence. Josiah’s voice, soft and low, finally broke the quiet. “Yes, I like you. It’s true. How could I not like a girl who literally saved my life?”
Josiah…” Yvette’s heart eased, and tears shimmered in her eyes.
Josiah’s gaze darkened, and his voice grew heavier as he continued, “But Yvette, you and Howard have been together for over ten years. Not once did I feel a hint of jealousy. I only felt happy for you two”
As he spoke, the light in Yvette’s eyes began to dim. Josiah took a deep breath, as though he could no longer hold back. “Do you understand what this means!”
“No…” Yvette’s heart raced, shaking her head frantically in disbelief.
Josiah stared at her, his voice growing even softer. “What I feel for you is just gratitude. To me, this kind of feeling has nothing to do with your gender, or maybe it goes beyond gender.”
He always treated her as his lifesaver. That was why, all these y
years, he had protected her without condition and just wanted her to be happy.
“No!” Yvette shook her head, tears streaming down her face. “It’s not true!”
“It’s getting late.” Josiah looked away, his arm twitching slightly. “You’re tired. You should rest.”
Clearly, he didn’t want to continue this conversation. However, Yvette had already backed herself into a corner. “Josiah, don’t leave!”
She called out, her voice desperate, her eyes frantic. “I get it! It’s because of your grandmother, right? You’re worried shell oppose it, aren’t you?”
As the head of the Flynn family, Miranda could never stand for any scandals within the family. That was why, years ago, she made Yvette choose between the two boys. Later, she even arranged for Josiah to be with Sienna
The more Yvette thought about it, the more certain she became. She almost convinced herself. “How about we leave the Flynn family? Would that be okay? I’m willing to leave with you, Josiah!”
“Yvette.” Josiah’s voice was soft but full of hesitation.
Yvette said. “I know you’ve built your own career these past years!”
Josiah tried to interrupt, but Yvette was already spiraling, her thoughts clouded by obsession. She smiled through her tears, saying. “Even if we leave the Flynn family, with your abilities, we can live just fine. Yes, let’s leave the Flynn family!”
She gripped Josiah’s arm tightly as if she had already made up her mind, “We’ll leave the Flynn family. If we leave, we can be together.
“Yvette!” Seeing that she wasn’t listening, Josiah snapped in a sharp voice as he interrupted, “Listen to me, okay?”
Yvette froze and finally stopped. “Okay.”
“This has nothing to do with Grandma. Josiah frowned as he shook his head slowly but firmly, “Yvette, I don’t have romantic feelings for you. Do you understand?”
Yvette trembled, her heart breaking into pieces, but she still sh
I shook her head, unable to accept it. “I don’t believe you!”
Josiah rubbed his forehead and sighed deeply. “Don’t you know what kind of person I am! I don’t give in to things I don’t want, not even if my grandma pressures me. Even after Sienna and I were married, I still kept my distance.”
Even after the marriage, he still neglected Sirma.
Josiali continued, “However, when I want something, no matter how unwilling she is, I’ll still go after it
Yvette thought, Every sentence is about Siennal‘ She let out a biger laugh. “Then what about me? Do I not mutter to you anymore?”
“No.” Josiali shook his head and said carefully, “To me, you’re like a sibling, just like Howard,”
Yvette let out a silent, bitter laugh. “Then what about Sienna is that love? No, I don’t believe you” She questioned him sharply.
She said, “Maybe it is love, but is there really everlasting love in this world? Didn’t Howard once say that he would only love me forever! It’s all 1/2

nonsense!”
Yvette’s emotions flared up again. She grabbed Josiah’s arm, her eyes glowing with a strange intensity. “Josiah, forget about Sienna. Starting right now, just think of me as your beloved one. We can be together”
“Calm down, Yvette!” Josiah seized her wrist, firmly prying her hand off. “Our situation has nothing to do with Sienna. Even without her, it would still be impossible for us because I’ve never had romantic feelings for you. You, 1, and Howard–we’re family.”
There was a pause, and then Josiah added. “Even if I hadn’t met Sienna, I would fall for someone else.” The truth was clear–it would never be her.
Yvette froze, her grip on his hand loosening little by little.
Josiah took a step back, pausing for several seconds before turning around. After walking a couple of steps, he stopped and glanced back at the still- seated Yvette. “Sienna has already agreed to my proposal. We’re getting married.”
Without another word, he turned and left the ward.
Yvette sat there in the wheelchair, her gaze unfocused. She could hear him talking to the nurse outside, giving orders, “Keep an eye on her. Don’t leave her alone again”
“Understood. Mr. Flynn,” said the nurse.
Yvette sneered and thought, Is he worried that I might “do something drastic” again?
“Ha, I won’t do this. He and Sienna are getting married, aren’t they? How could I just give up on everything? I have to stay alive and watch if they really can make it to the end
She looked down at her legs, thinking. They are all happy together, and what about me? Am I just supposed to die alone? No way!
The weather slowly warmed up, and mornings came earlier. When Josiah arrived at Sunshine Neighborhood, Sienna had just gotten up and hadn’t had a chance to freshen up. Tara was busy in the kitchen, and Sienna came to open the door.
“Good morning,” Josiah said, holding a bouquet of fresh flowers in one hand and a bag from Tasty Bites in the other. “Freshly baked egg tarts. You and Joyce both like them, right?”
Sienna took the bag from him, not saying much
Josiah said, “Tll go check on Joyce.
Sienna said, “She’s not awake yer”
Josial said, “That’s fi
‘s fine. I’ll just stay with her.”
Sienna didn’t stop him. She unwrapped the flowers, found a vase, filled it with water, and arranged the flowers inside.
Soon, their small talk filled the room.
“Good morning, Mr. Flynn j
Joyce said in a cheerful voice.
“Good morning, Joyce. Josiah handed her a dress. “Wow, your dress is so pretty!”
Joyce twirled in front of him, beaming with pride. “Wow, I look so beautiful!”
Josiah raised an eyebrow. “You’ve always looked pretty”
Joyce blinked, her expression serious as she said, “You’re right. We’re both pretty humans!”
