Chapter 406
“Ugh.” Sienna clutched her head in pain, her emotions spiraling out of control.
The door was pushed open and Conner rushed in. Both of them approached her with quick steps.
Conner asked, “What are you doing here?”
Cedric replied, “What did you say to Sienna? Why is she acting like this?”
“Sienna,” Cedric sat down on the edge of the bed and hugged her. “It’s me, it’s Cedric. I told him to leave. He’s gone now.”
“You’re still not leaving?” Conner said, not bothering to hide his disgust for Josiah. “Sienna doesn’t want to see you.”
Josiah pursed his lips, clenching his jaw. He glanced at Sienna, then suddenly turned around,
The ward door closed behind him, and Josiah squeezed his eyes shut.
It turned out Sienna was unwilling to even meet Josiah…but while she could ignore him, that doesn’t mean he could just ignore her.
Josiah looked at Gilbert, frowning. “Mr. Hardin, I need to discuss something with you…”
“Go ahead,” Mr Hardin replied.
“There’s no surveillance footage, but what about a witness?” Josiah asked.
“A witness?” Gilbert froze. “Where would we find a witness?”
He had gone over the entire incident in detail, and there was no…
Josiah curved his lips upwards, “If I say there is one, then there is one.”
“This…” Gilbert was taken aback before it dawned on him. “You mean…”
“Why are you so surprised?” Josiah gave him a sideways glance. “Gilbert, you didn’t come this far in your career without using some tricks of your own, right?”
Gilbert couldn’t refute that. Still, he was curious. “You trust her that much? She and Reyna fought; she might have pushed her…”
“If she says she didn’t, then she didn’t,” Josiah interrupted him impatiently. “I’ll take care of it. If anything goes wrong, just pretend you know nothing. It’s on me.”
“Don’t be too hasty. If it doesn’t work out, you’ll be charged with obstruction of justice. It might be tricky, but we won’t lose this case…” Gilbert said.
“I can’t wait any longer,” Josiah said firmly.
*Sienna is scared out of her mind. Besides, I promised Joyce that her Sienna would be home by tomorrow…” he continued.
Josiah couldn’t break his promise, disappointing Joyce.
“The door to the ward behind them opened suddenly. Cedric walked out, his expression monotonous. “Sienna’s IV drip is almost empty, I’ll go get
the nurse.”
“Oh, okay.” Gilbert hurriedly stepped aside, then glanced at Josiah, asking, “Do you think he overheard us?”
“So what if he did,” Josiah raised an eyebrow, nonchalant. “When it comes to Sienna, he’s one of us.”
“That’s true. Gilbert agreed.
The next morning, Reyna woke up to Tania helping her wash up and drink water.
There was a knock on the door and Gilbert walked in with his assistant. “Mrs. Fischer and Ms. Fischer,” he said.
Gilbert’s face was expressionless, his emotions unreadable. His voice, however, was cold and menacing. “I’m here to ask if you two know that making false accusations is a crime.”
“False…false accusations?” Reyna froze and looked up at Tania.
Tania panicked, swallowing nervously. “We didn’t make any false accusations.”

“No” Gilbert raised his voice and shook his head, smiling “But the eyewitness said otherwise:
“Eye eyewitness?”
“Yes,” Gilbert said, still smiling. “That day, when you were talking, someone happened to pass by and saw everything.”
The smile faded from his face, replaced by a solemn look.
“Sienna never pushed you. You fell on your own. This is a false accusation, which is a crime.”
Without missing a beat, he asked his assistant, “Tell her how long the prison sentence is for false accusations.”
“According to the law, false accusations lead to three years of imprisonment, criminal detention, or public surveillance. In severe cases, the sentence can be three to ten years of imprisonment.”
“Did you hear that?” Gilbert stared at Reyna’s pale face, satisfied.
I’m here to inform you that we have found the eyewitness. We will be suing you for false accusation.” He glanced at his assistant. “Let’s go.”
“Mom!” Reyna cried out in fear, grabbing Tania’s arm. “What do we do? You were the one who told me to accuse her!”
“Shut up!” Tania snapped, exasperated.
It was true. Accusing Sienna had been her idea, but she hadn’t expected there would be an eyewitness.
“All you do is cry!” Tania shouted at her.
“How dare you yell at me! Hey, don’t leave!” Reyna called out to Gilbert.
Reyna couldn’t hold back any longer and shouted at Gilbert, “It wasn’t me! It was my mom, it was my mom’s idea!”
“Reyna, Tania trembled with anger, “Shut up! I did this for you!”
As soon as Gilbert heard this, he turned around immediately, “Ms. Fischer, think carefully. This is not a joke. You will be held responsible, not your mother.
I’ll tell the truth,” Reyna swallowed her saliva dry, “Sienna didn’t push me. I was the one who grabbed her. But I lost my balance and fell forward…*
“That’s what the eyewitness said.
Gilbert said seriously, “Ms. Fischer, it’s not too late to withdraw the lawsuit now. But once the court hearing starts and the eyewitness shows up, it’ll be too late?
“Okay, Reyna had lost her mind, so refusal was not a choice. “I’ll withdraw the lawsuit now.”
Reyna withdrew the lawsult. When Sienna received the news, she was still in the hospital. Her fever had subsided.
After Gilbert wrapped up the procedures at the police station, he rushed over to explain the situation to Sienna.
“That’s the situation, Ms. Shaw. If you feel okay, you can go home now,”
After hearing his explanation, Sienna pondered, “You’re saying there was an eyewitness that day?”
“Yes, Gilbert nodded with a smile. “It’s all thanks to this eyewitness.”
“Really?” Sienna nodded. “Can I meet him? I’d like to thank him…
“Well…” Gilbert hesitated. I’m afraid that’s not possible. The witness is under protection. Unless they need to testify in court, it’s best not to disturb
them
“I see.” Sienna smiled, not pressing the matter further. “Alright then.”
Please rest well Gilbert stood up to leave. “I’ll pass on your gratitude,”
Shortly after Gilbert left, Conner and Cedric arrived.
Sienna had packed her things and was ready to be discharged. “You two came. I’m fine now.”

“Sorry to worry you. Sienna gave a weak smile.
Unlike that year, when she was left to defend herself and felt utterly alone….she had people backing her up this time. An eyewitness, Conner, and Josiah who believe in her.
Ultimately, she escaped unscathed.
The suffering she endured that year did not befall her again.
“Sienna.” Cedric frowned, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. “You just recovered from a fever. You should rest more. Joyce is waiting for you too. Let’s go back.”
“Haha. Conner chuckled, watching them. He leaned closer to Sienna and whispered, “Sienna, Mr. Brawne’s not bad. Much better than Josiah”
He nodded towards Cedric. “Mr. Brawne, could you please give my sister a ride back? Sienna, give me a call when you get home?
“Okay,” Cedric replied.
Josiah sat in his car, watching Cedric’s Pagani drive out of the hospital. He clenched his fists.
Beside him, Gilbert glanced at Josiah, “I told you to go in, but you didn’t. Now look, she’s gone with Cedric, and you didn’t even get to see her.”
Josiah shook his head. “As long as she’s okay.”
There was no need to meet. He didn’t want to upset her again.
“Oh, Josiah, Gilbert said, both helpless and regretful, “If you knew it’d come to this, why did you get divorced in the first place?”
If only he had known…
But then again, who could truly foresee the future?
