Chapter 3
I grabbed my bag and stood up after hearing that. “Alright, I’m leaving now. By the way, since you’re the one who fired me, don’t forget to send my compensation to my account.” With that, I walked out of the office without looking back.
Once outside, I called my brother, Martin Knight, “The deal’s off. Andrew fired me.”
Martin sounded shocked. “Andrew? Your boyfriend? You’ve been with him since college, and now he’s firing you?”
I told him everything that had happened, and Martin slammed his hand on the table in frustration. “End things with him now. That guy’s a jerk. I’ll find you a new guy–tall, built, loyal, and perfect for you.
“I’ll cancel the deal, too. Without you, his company wouldn’t even be in the running for this.”
That night, I got home feeling a bit bitter. All the effort I put in, and it ended like this.
Martin noticed my mood and immediately understood. “Olivia, come work with us. You know the company, you have shares in it. You can choose anyone you want to collaborate with.”
I thought it over for a moment and immediately agreed.
