Chapter 31
Asher’s Pov
As I strode down the hallway. I could feel my wolf growling inside me, itching for a fight. I had to control it, to focus on the task at hand. I needed to find out where my warriors were gathered, to gather them for an attack on the rogues.
by warriors” I demanded.
I burst into the room where Caden was, my eyes blazing with fury. “Where are my
Caden flinched at the sound of my voice, but he quickly composed himself. “They’re in the armory, Alpha”
I didn’t bother acknowledging him, just turned on my heel and stormed towards the armory.
The armory was a large and spacious room, located in the heart of the Packhouse. It was the main storage area for all the weapons and equipment used by the pack’s warriors. As I entered the room, the smell of oil and metal filled my nostrils. The walls were lined with shelves, which were stacked high with various types of weapons swords, axes, spears, daggers, and more. Each shelf was meticulously organized, with every weapon in its proper place.
The center of the room was dominated by a large stone table, where weapons were sharpened and repaired. Several benches were scattered around the room, where warriors could sit and rest while they waited for their weapons to be ready. The room was well–lit, with large windows that allowed natural light to filter in during the day. At night, oil lamps and torches provided ample illumination.
I walked towards the stone table and saw that several warriors were gathered around it, sharpening their weapons. They looked up as I entered the room, and I could see the fear in their eyes. They knew that something was wrong, and that I was angry, I approached the table, my eyes scanning the weapons on it looking for the best one to take with me.
“Where are the rest of the warriors? I asked, my voice sharp and cold.
“They are on patrol, Alpha,” one of the warriors replied. “We are the only ones here.
1 gritted my teeth. I needed every warrior I had to find the rogues responsible for the attack on my pack. “Get word to the patrols,” I said. “Tell them. to gather at the border. We need to find these rogues and take them down
My generals who were present as well cowered when they saw me, knowing that they were in trouble for being insensitive. They knew that I was in no mood for their excuses.
“What is going on here!” I growled, my eyes sweeping over the
group.
They shified nervously, avoiding my gaze. One of them finally spoke up. “We were caught off guard, Alpha. We didn’t expect the rogues to attack us like this”
I snarled in frustration. “You should always expect the unexpected. You know that I turned to the weapons rack and started pulling outs weapons. handing them to my generals. “Gather your men. We’re going after those rogues.
There was a flurry of movement as the generals rushed to obey my orders. I could feel my wolf inside me, pulsing with anticipation. It was time for us to take back what was ours.
I stormed out of the armory, my boots pounding against the ground with each step. My thoughts were a jumbled mess, a mix of anger, frustration, and confusion. As I made my way down the hallway, I could feel the stares of my generals burning into my back, but I didn’t care. They knew they had failed me, and I was not in the mood to sugarcoat anything.
The hallway seemed endless, stretching on and on until I finally reached the staircase. I took the steps two at a time, not bothering to slow down even though I could feel the tension building in my muscles. I needed to get outside, to feel the open air on my face and clear my head.
As I reached the bottom of the staircase, I could see the light streaming in from the open doorway. The sound of voices and movement drifted
and I took a deep breath before stepping outside.

The moon was high in the sky, casting a mysterious glow over the courtyard. I could see the warriors gathered in groups, talking quietly amongst
themselves.
Some were sitting on the benchies, while others were pacing back and forth. I could sense their unease, their uncertainty about what had happened the night before.
As I stepped outside, my eyes scanned the are
area, searching for any sign of danger. I saw some of them warriors gathered in a group, waiting for my command. I took a deep breath, trying to calm the rage that still coursed through my veins.
Just as I was about to speak, Michael stepped forward, his eyes meeting mine. “Alpha, we just returned from the boundary,” he said, his voice steady.
I raised an eyebrow, surprised. “And?”“”.

“We found no sign of any rogues,” he replied.
I felt a wave of relief wash over me, but my anger still simmered underneath. “What do you mean? How is that possible?”
Michael shrugged. “We don’t know, Alpha, But we scouted the entire area and didn’t find any traces of them. It’s possible that they retreated back to their territory.”
I clenched my fists, still frustrated that these rogues had managed to attack us so easily. “I want to know how they managed to get inside our territory in the first place. Find out everything you can about them, and report back to me immediately”
The warriors nodded, quickly dispersing to carry out my orders. I turned to Caden, my voice sharp. “Why didn’t you send the warriors out to search the boundary immediately?”
Caden flinched at my tone, but he kept his composure. I didn’t want to risk any more of our men, Alpha. We had already lost too many last night. I thought it would be better to wait until daylight to send them out
I let out a grow still seething with anger. “Don’t ever make that kind of decision again without my approval. Our pack’s safety is my responsibility. and I won’t let anyone jeopardize it.”
Caden nodded, his eyes downcast. “Yes, Alpha. I understand.”
I sighed, trying to calm myself. “Just make sure that it doesn’t happen again. We can’t afford to let our guard down.”
I turned to Caden, who was standing a few feet away from me, and asked him. “How many warriors did we lose?”
Caden’s face looked pained as he responded. “We lost five, Alpha. A couple more are receiving treatment from the Pack doctor.”
1 felt my anger rise again, and I could feel my wolf growling inside of me. This was unacceptable. We couldn’t let this happen again. “Caden, I need you to wait back with some warriors,” I said firmly. “I’m going to the boundary to check something out.”
alone, but I didn’t care. I needed to make sure
Caden nodded, and I could see the worry in his eyes. He knew how dangerous it was for me to go alo that our borders were secure and that we weren’t going to be attacked again
As I made my way down the cobblestone and onto the moat in front of the Packhouse, I could feel the cool night air on my skin. It was a clear night, and I could see the stars shining brightly above me. But my mind was focused on the task at hand, and I didn’t have time to appreciate the beauty of the night.
I shifted quickly and bolted towards the boundary, my senses on high alert. I could feel the tension in my body as I approached the edge of our territory. I stopped and looked out into the darkness, scanning the area for any signs of danger.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, trying to focus on my senses. That’s when I heard it.
A faint rustling in the bushes just beyond our border. My eyes flew open, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. I knew I had to investigate.
I took off at a run, my feet pounding against the ground as I moved towards the sound. I could feel my wolf pushing me forward, his instincts telling me that danger was near. As I got closer, I could see a figure moving in the darkness.
I slowed down, approaching the figure cautiously.
