Chapter 6
“POV–ARYA”
The Ling wall
walked past
me, pausing momentarily to address the maid
“Keep her company” he commanded.
He was out of the chambers before I could call out to him, and a sullen desperation surged within me. He didn’t know I had healing powers, he didn’t know I could help. I moved to follow him, but the maid blocked my path, placing herself between me and the large door.
“You’re not allowed to leave.” she said with a stern voice despite the fact she was clearly panicking.
“I can help” I pleaded. “I have healing powers. I can heal Calista”
The maid’s eyes widened in surprise, then squinted in skepticism.
“Y–you’re lying If you had healing powers, his majesty would’ve brought you to see Calista himself,” the maid said, her voice wavering.
“I just got here, he doesn’t know.” I said, stepping closer.
“You’re not allowed to leave and that’s Ena-”
I reached out my hand and held hers before she could finish, golden light sipping out of my palm and healing the smallest I’d noticed on her wrist. Her eyes widened in surprise and wonder as she watched nie,
“Please, take me to her. Lurged
The maid besitated, glancing nervously in the direction the kingad gone. But the desperation to save Calista outweighed her fear of defying the king’s orders. She nodded and whispered. “Come with me.”
I was led out of the grand chamber and down a series of winding corridors towards the hospital. The urgency in the maid’s steps matched the pounding of my heart.
When we arrived, the scene was chaotic. Attendants surrounded a young girl who lay motionless on a bed, her breathing shallow and Labored. I’d expected to see a teenager, but the girl was indeed no more than a child. if the lycan territory was like anything I’d heard, then this girl was either royalty or of noble blood. This many attendants and supposeil healers wouldn’t be employed for a commoner.
We pushed our way through the panicking attendants url we reached the child’s bedside. 1 caught sight of the lycan king who stood nearby. The gathered crowd had made it difficult to see him at first glance, and his gaze was fierce when he finally noticed us.
“What is she doing here?” the king demanded, glaring at the maid.
“Don’t blame her. She followed your orders to keep me company,” I said quickly before anything could happen.
“Go wait in the chambers, mate, I’ll handle this,”
I ignored him and took the child’s hand in mine. Everyone suddenly stopped chattering in panic and stared at me. Even in the midst of this small crowd. I could still make out the king’s gaze and my wolf stirred. The mate bond was making me too sensitive to his mere presence.
Focus Arya, there’s no time to let your wolf control you.
I took a deep breath and felt the familiar warmth of my healing powers flowing through me, enveloping the child in a warm, soothing light. I could feel my powers working to mend her internal injuries and stop her bleeding. The process was draining, and it took longer than usual for the bealing process to complete. Everyone watched in silent awe as I fought to bring Calista back from the edge of death
Gradually, her breathing steadied, and not long after, the healing process became complete. The dullness of her skin faded and her vitality was restored, and I breathed a sigh of relief. The attendants gave a loud cheer and clapped. That had been more exhausting than I’d expected
“You saved her!” The maid cried, throwing her arms around me and sobbing. I suspected she was the maid in charge of caring for Calista or she was somehow related to her, though the latter was hard to imagine. I gently patted the maid’s back whilst staring at the still sleeping child, a relieved smie spreading across my lips.
The king’s gaze flickered from Calista to mine, looking shocked but incredibly pleased at the same time. He smiled and my wolf whimpered, responding to the approval of our mate. I struggled to ignore the pull of the bood and immediately looked away, hating the effect he had on me.
“By the goddess, there hasn’t been a healer amongst our kind in the last millenia! The seer has been saved!” A man who I assumed was the pack doctor from his dressing exclaimed as everyone cheered in unison.

I wanted to correct the impression and tell him I wasn’t a lycan but a healer from the Aeternum pack, until I recalled my pack breaking the treaty was the reason the child was put in this condition in the first place. How would they react if they knew I was the she wolf being convicted for the crime of almost killing one of their kind!
Almost as if he’d read my mind, the lycan king placed a reasuring and somewhat possessive hand on my lower back.
He glanced at the pack doctor, and I think they had a small mind–linked conversation before the doctor turned towards everyone present.
“Calista will need
time to rest before she wakes up. It’s best we all leave” he said.
Everyone made their way out of the room and as I was about to follow suit, the king held me in place.
“Stay” he commanded.
The last thing I wanted was to be left alone with him, but his grip wouldn’t even let me move an inch away from him.
Soon, everyone was out and the pack doctor closed the door behind him.
“I find it hard to believe any pack would send someone with such rare abilities to her death. Were you forced to take the blame for this crime? Who sent you here to die?” he asked, his eyes probing in a way that told me there was no room for lies
I battled his intense gaze, struggling to pull away but his eyes kept me locked in. I could barely stand due to exhaustion and side effects of the moon sickness, but I was determined to never show my weak side to anyone ever again.
“Is this your way of thanking me for saving the child?” I asked, raising my brow mockingly.
“She wouldn’t have needed saving if not for your pack,” he countered.
I winced and looked away from him. I’d almost forgotten I was supposed to be a wanted criminal.
“You look pale. The healing process must’ve drained you. Let’s continue this conversation after you’re done resting, alright?” he said in a tone that suggested he wasn’t asking for my compliance.
Before I could think to refuse, Calista’s eyes fluttered open. Joy swelled in my chest as I watched her sit upright, and the king smiled in relief. I was so glad I’d managed to heal her.
But what happened next was the worst thing I could’ve ever imagined.
The moment Calista’s eyes met mine. her pupils turned white, like the eyes of a ghost. I immediately panicked, thinking she was dying until L noticed her entire body was glowing with a strange, ghost–like aura. In that moment, I remembered the pack doctor had referred to her as a seer
Calista hovered above her bed like an ancient spirit, and I stood there, petrified. Her face contorted in pitiful sadness as she raised her index finger to point at me. Then she opened her mouth and spoke in many deep voices all at once.
“Arya Blackwood of the Aeternum pack, youngest child of Alpha Alexander, by the rise of the second moon, you will die a bloody death with the child in your womb.”
