Chapter 19
Bryce, hands in his pockets, chuckled, “Looks like Grace is going to have a little sibling soon.”
Antonio shot Bryce a glare, his lips parting as if he wanted to say something, but he stayed quiet out of respect for Barrett.
This was a tough situation. Barrett had given Antonio orders to start wedding preparations right away.
Zelma pretended to thank Barrett, but Antonio took her with him.
This was the place where he and Grace had stayed for a while.
Zelma, her hair a mess, got tossed on the couch. She smiled softly at Antonio, who was fuming.
“Zelma, you’re really asking for it,” Antonio snapped, glaring at the woman who made him gross.
Zelma slowly settled onto the leather couch, smoothed her disheveled hair, and spoke in a low voice, “Antonio, you wouldn’t dare defy Mr. Kaufman’s orders, would you?”
Antonio sneered. It was no secret how much he valued filial piety. What a smart trick indeed.
He leaned in, his hand on Zelma’s neck, and said with a creepy smile, “Zelma, guess why I chose you?”
Zelma was struggling for breath, gasping for air. She had considered many answers to his question, but there was one

she just couldn’t pin down.

It was Grace. Yet, Grace was his niece. How could they even be together?
“Because you look a bit like Grace. Got it? Since you’re set on marrying me, don’t regret it.”
Antonio shook off Zelma, grabbed a handkerchief, and wiped his hands clean. Zelma might have had plans, but she didn’t ask if he was in.
Back at the Kaufman’s home, Barrett was caught up in the preparations for Antonio’s wedding.
Once he had dealt with the sudden rush of tasks, Barrett finally exhaled in relief.
“Grandpa, have some food. You’ve been busy all day,” Grace said, bringing over dinner.
Barrett waved her off. “I’m so stressed out by Antonio. I don’t have any appetite.”
Bryce had been at Barrett’s side, lending a hand. Barrett recalled that the Huffman family had built an amusement park downtown.
“Bryce, you and Grace have been busy for so long. I heard your family opened a new amusement park. Take Grace there to relax.”
Barrett was most concerned about Grace’s future. As he aged, he feared most that Grace would be left alone, parentless.
Barrett had watched Bryce grow up, and Bryce was a great

guy. Barrett was hoping his match–making would pay off.
The nights in Wintervale weren’t as biting as those in Benbury, but Bryce still wrapped a scarf around Grace’s neck.
“What do you want to play?”
The Huffman family had most of their stuff overseas, but this amusement park was built just for Grace. It had been in the works for years, and now it was finally ready.
Grace pointed to the top Ferris wheel. “Let’s hit that. I’ve always wanted to ride it since I was little, but Uncle Antonio was never free.”
A soft breeze was playing with her bangs.
With a grin, Bryce ducked down to smooth her hair, took her hand, and walked to the Ferris wheel with her.
The park was brand new and not crowded yet, so they didn’t have to wait and hopped right on.
Bryce heard that confessing at the top of the Ferris wheel worked better.
Grace gazed at the view gradually sinking below, feeling a bit emotional.
She hadn’t really spent much time in Wintervale. After Antonio brought her back, they moved to Benbury in just a couple of years. Most of the Kaufman Group’s business was there. Wintervale was more like a retirement spot for Barrett.
All of a sudden, she felt warmer. Grace glanced at Bryce beside her. He was quiet, like he wanted to say something.

Fireworks exploded in the distance, lighting up the sky.
“Grace, I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?” Bryce asked gently, watching her with hopeful eyes.
He was waiting for her answer, just a simple yes or no.
“Yes,” said Grace.
